Marty is the best for people who want the basic jist of a song enough for it to sound similar and Carl Brown just is the best due to his near perfect accuracy and in depth lessons
THe funny thing about these comments, is there's *at least* one under every youtube guitar tutorial. Making it possibly the 2nd most worthless comment after "first".
Thanks man! Good job! Other ‘teachers’ on RUclips, take note...this is how it’s done! This guy doesn’t leave out the solo...he gives you the whole song!🤘🏻👊🏻👌
I’m glad to see your channel blowing up, I’ve been subscribed for a long time and you have taken me through a great guitar journey for about 2 and a half years and just wanna say thanks man, I wish more and more success comes your way, thanks brotha
I can't seem to follow along with this solo no matter how much I slow the video down. I don't suppose you have the tab for this? All the tab version of this solo I find online don't sound as accurate.
This is the best rendition of the solo I've seen anywhere on the web. Before I attempt to do it myself and probably screw it up, have you by any chance written tab for it?
Ha ha.hi Juliet, nice name btw.i know EXACTLY how you feel.Try Heart-shaped box. It's pretty easy and seriously pleasing to play.I'll be proud of you when you learn it!
Carl Brown so reminds me of the main bad guy Devlin(?), on the Net with Sandra bullock. I love learning from this channel, thanks for all your great work
Hey thanks I used to think the 4th bends were so weird that they were odd bended tritones so thank you very much. I must say though that I am positive that after the 11-13 riff kurt kits an (intentional or not) open D as a pull of from the end of the last note on 13. I've examined this guitar solo for a long time and you gave me the ability to feel I fully comprehend it now so thank you so much!
@@scratchlizard9544 Power chords can be played all over the fret board based on the finger setup so no it's not wrong, but you already know everything about that right?
Hey Carl, Great lesson. by the way, i don't know if you do lessons which include slide guitar, but if you do would you consider doing Love Spreads by the Stones Roses?
How do you avoid the awkward silence in between changing chords? Every time I change a chord the sound completely stops and it doesn’t make the song flow
Kurt really didn't give a shit if the chords he used fit in same scale together. It just goes to show that sometimes learning musical Theory can hinder your songwriting.
I wouldn't say it hinders it. I think it's more accurate to say that it isn't necessary for songwriting. And he might have even understood the musical theory and purposefully not followed it to create an effect. There is no excuse really for not learning theory
Possibly silly question: How come sometimes on the higher strings of the chord you use 2 fingers and sometimes you bar it? I know its the same difference but is one technically more the right way than the other?
Wade M technically the right way of playing power chords is with the two fingers but Kurt played his with the barre and sometimes barred 3 strings with his third finger although this was mostly on accident Tbh I prefer playing with two fingers and the accidental barring sounds cool
You try NOT to do those squeak noises lol. It's when you slide your fingers on the strings, but you need to completely take your fingers off then back on.Sometimes though,it DOES sound better with the squeak, play for a few more months and it will be plain as day to you.
hes playing the chord for a quarter second again before going to the next one, takes his fretting off quickly after he plays it to stop it from actually ringing out
Smitty Smith you have to mute the other strings with your fingers, I used my index finger to mute he unwanted strings. It just takes practice I learned it from smells like teen spirit.
there's not necessarily a "correct" fingering I'm pretty sure James Hetfield plays his power chords with his pinky I actually find it easier most of the time
Can you please be a little slower when talking about the power chords please. Most of the time I hear, this power chord. Can you say the name of the chord and which fret and strings it is please? 😅 I'm not so bright
I used to not understand what he meant too. Go watch marty music tutorials he keeps them super slow and simple and always goes into detail about what notes hes playing. After you start to get familiar with what is what. Come back to this guy and learn thats what i did
5:08min SOLO

so true bro
As I've said it before, to play it correctly you either need to A:"sell the kids for food"
Or B:"be sold as a kid for food"
Lola
I meant lol
Great job! Should have way more views. This is the only correct rendition ive seen of the solo. Fantastic.
What a genius Kurt was to make chaos into art. Thanks for the best lesson on RUclips!!
5:40 solo section
5:10 playing the solo section

You are indeed amazing! That breakdown of the guitar solo. Wow!
Spot on Carl! If I want to see a song taught correctly I know I can count on you.
This is the best rendition of the solo I've seen anywhere on the web. Before I attempt to do it myself and probably screw it up, have you by any chance written tab for it?
I love you for showing the strumming.

Guitar notes repeat many times over the fretboard.
Before learning more songs, you should learn about naming chords.
great lesson. love the solo lesson.
I broke my stings learning this
wtf same
i broke my fingers learning this

Kudos Carl for another excellent tutorial! Greatly appreciated!! :-)
Thank you! What a solo!
Sick amp sound
Axe FX I believe
I think he just blended to chaos solos together to get the final product, cuz that solo is nuts.
enjoy your lessons. some folks can play but a few can teach...Keep putting it out.Any chance you can do pump it up by elvis costello
“Alright now we get to an actual melody” 😭😭
Very helpful tutorial, thanks!
Pay the man 😀
Yay! Now I can go play it acoustically.
(How am I supposed to do that?)
Not how, why.
Hey Carl, Great lesson.

Can you play endless nameless by nirvana from the original nevermind 1991 please and solos
Endless Nameless is not really supposed to have tabs is it? It was just random?
I want it to
Great lessons Carl. When you get around to another Steve vai Vidu should either teach tender surrender or bad horsie
Thanks!
Thank you!

Which pedal do you use in this song?
I learned this song in 1/2 step down would that matter
would that be right or wrong.
The original recording is in standard tuning
Depends on where your playing it.
How you doin those squeak noises in between the chords. 2:50 sorry if noob question I’m new to guitar.

is that solo suppose to be hard or easy?
On the first powerchord why does my g string not ring out when playing
thank you
What pedal(s) were you using?
fav tutorial
As far as the solo goes i'm betting Kurt would want you to create your own kaos.
A- MA- ZING!
WHAT KINDA AMPLI & EFFECTS?
Where do I find the tab
Do I have to bar on the first power chord
Crazy solo!! haha!! LOL
What specific model of Strat is that? Sounds amazing.
its just a normal sunburst fender strat
is this played tuned 1 step down?
Amazing
Not many people can unravel that chaotic solo...awesome job...really wanted to learn that👍🏻
AIC Nutshell would be great.

Are you muting the low E some way, because mine buzzes sometimes.

Handsome before talented makes a huge difference in guitar play, keep up the good work.
Igor M you can’t solo without a premium bone structure
Witch guitar?
I think it's a strat
Whats the tuning
can someone help me? I don't know how to singley strum the power chords without hitting other strings
Smitty Smith you have to mute the other strings with your fingers, I used my index finger to mute he unwanted strings. It just takes practice I learned it from smells like teen spirit.
Thank you!
Very Nuce.
does anyone else find it odd that he's playing power chords with his pinky on the 5th ? Index and Ring fingers are the correct fingering
there's not necessarily a "correct" fingering I'm pretty sure James Hetfield plays his power chords with his pinky I actually find it easier most of the time
5:09
Omh god.. the solo though haha
white room please
what kind of strat is that
Just a sunburst color
My squire has it
It's a '57 reissue with an ash body in sunburst color, I've got one
+FatsharkFun oh okay. Those sound better.
+KitcheT23 carl has a cool video now where he shows all the guitars he uses, you should check it out!

I have to learn this song for my cover group. I suddenly remember why I hate Nirvana.
I DONT KNOW CHORDS 😭
You don't play it differently. You just play your chords elsewhere. Same as me. You are still playing the same notes. Of course it sounds the same.
Solo section was pretty whack, good job though.
You are so handsome!!!
:55
Thanks very much 🤘
What's the tuning
