- A nice tune from Boardwalk Empire season 3, ep. 4. No copyright infringement intended, all credit goes to HBO. The link to the original song: • My Buddy Henry Burr 1922
Lyrics:
Nights are long since you went away,
I think about you all through the day,
My buddy, my buddy,
Nobody quite so true.
Life is a book that we study.
Some of its leaves bring a sigh.
There it was written, my buddy,
that we must part, you and I.
Buddies through all of the gray days.
Buddies when something went wrong.
I wait alone through the gray days,
missing your smile and your song.
Miss your voice, the touch of your hand,
Just long to know that you understand,
My buddy, my buddy,
Your buddy misses you.
The way he has his deaf son touch his throat so he feels the vibrations of his voice. I'm sobbin'
Stephen Graham is one hell of an actor.
for fucking real
I remember the first time I saw him in
This is England
He blew me away!
He is really fucking good, and his development of Capone into almost a completely different person by the end was amazing.
Best song for a dad and son.
Dirty hands, dirty face by Al Jolson is another one that tugs at my heart
Little Pal is good as well
I miss this show so much
Ended way too soon.
Me too :((
Rewatch it! It's on Amazon prime
Don't we all? What a beauty
Me too 😔
Stephen Graham absolutely kills it here, I’d be down to hear him do a whole album like this.
Teared up like crazy the first time I watched this scene.
Me too man. My Pop also called me Buddy. I had to leave the room last night(first time sitting down and watching the whole series)
Me too 😢 and I'm from the streets...
The best ending to a Boardwalk Empire episode!
FreakyGyrations yup then the original son playing right after in the credits
Hands down... It feels good to know so many people felt the same way I did about this scene...
Played this for my son...he's 4, and we love it!!! He deserves an Oscar just for this scene!
From the beginning of the series, I always thought that Stephen Graham was a surprisingly brilliant choice for Capone, but the development that put his character through in this episode just put it to a whole new level. Excellent actor and an excellent scene, painfully emotional. I look forward to seeing more Capone in Season four. Hats off to Graham in this scene.
One day I'll sing this for my son
Any luck ?
Any luck?
Any luck ?
Any luck?
Any luck?
Anyone else's Pop call them Buddy too and just can't help but get teary eyed watching this? Many props to Stephen Graham.
Can't watch this scene without crying a bucket of tears.
My cat passed away last year and he was my buddy. So needless to say, I bawled my eyes out watching this episode.
Makes me think of my son, and how lucky I am that he was born so healthy....
I cry everytime i see this.
It really fit with the last scene we've got of Al Capone and his son in season 5... Great as well.
thanks... my god, how bad i miss my dad ...
=( sorry to hear
Paul Dicola thanks mate
Joey Ganguzza Same my dad was an alcoholic and I miss him
One of the sweetest moments in the entire show, beside when he very sadly says goodbye for good to him later on. Capone was a monster but had softie moments too
Still has yet to find a better version. The lowkey of this whole composition and just the ukulele makes it amazing.
It's a mandolin not a ukulele
This scene always makes me tear up.
I am not ashamed to say that this made me cry
This is tearing me apart guys.
The best scene of Al Capone. Made the tear drops start in an instant.
This show goes so hard with the emotional beats. I tested up during the scenes with Al and his son. The creators made such compelling, complex characters
Surprising how someone as sadistic & violent as Al Capone can be as tender & vulnerable as he is with his son.
This made me cry it was so touching and sweet!
My Buddy Erica
This whole episode just left me a weepy wreck after I rewatched today. The kid who plays Sonny is so adorable.
My nephew Lu was crying when he came home from his first day of school, and he said “no one would play with me”. He’s so tiny and absurdly adorable and looks like me and is timid and socially anxious like me as a child.
When I heard that, I almost crushed the glass I was holding and just held him and held back tears. But he loves school now, so we all have to be there for the children and show them the love that might be lacking elsewhere. They’ll pull through. Very resilient little creations. ♥️
Sent this to both of my sons. This was legit us when they were little and now ones grown and the other one is well on his way. But regardless we still play video games together to hang out when we all have time.
A father singing to his son.
Idgaf if he's one of the most notorious gang leaders, that shit hits me where I live.
It amazes me that Stephen Graham never received an award for all he did on the show.
Thank you VERY much for uploading this
Thank you for your kind words.
I love this. Al Capone is the best.
This is the best drama on TV at the moment. So deep, so thoughtful, outstanding actors.
Capone did alot of bad things in his life, but he never did bad by his son. He also did not want the same life he lead for Sonny, he wanted him to grow up having a better life than he did, and not ending up behind bars.
Agree. He was an amazing father to his son as reported.
this scene was just fantastic
I was in high school when this show was popular, I heard nothing but my mates and my dad talk about this show. This scene is my all time favourite.
I cried when i saw this scene for the first time honestly
Even killers have a soft side
OG with a heart!!!!
I remember watching this scene thanking god for my healthy son and almost tearing up. Such a great actor/scene/show
My grandpa called me his buddy and we pressed our thumbs together
Had a dog named Buddy. He disappeared almost a year ago. Miss him still
My buddy just sent me an ounce in the mail. I love and miss him.
It’s 2021 and still wish they would bring this show back
Jimmy & Al days :(
Jimmy & Richard days :(
Al & Van Alden (George muller) days :)
Such a great scene from a great show.
Damn this made me cry so hard
O'Banion and 2 of his men disliked this video.
Lucky and Lansky disliked it too :(
The federals dislike this, including Nelson Van Alden 🤣
Such a sweet, touching scene.
Killed me. Only had a soft spot for his boy once he figured his son was not like him and needed a different approach to understand his child.
Life is a book that we study..
Some of its leaves bring a sigh.
My bearded dragon just died. His name was Earl but I called him buddy, he was there for me and I was too. But today he passed away. And I’m so lost in life.
Damn I feel so bad for my past self. I’ve found good friends, grades, mental health and just an overall life. Glad I found myself
I used to sing this song to my son everyday inspired by this scene... and then my girlfriend admitted she cheated on me after 2 years, and she left me also. We took a DNA and it's true. There was nothing I could do at that point, and sometimes I think of this scene and come to watch it and it hurts my soul.
The Sound of Perception wait wtf your son u found out isn’t yours?????
Sounds like you dodged a bullet
@@andrewbecker9062 Can't lose what you never had
Sorry to hear that mate.
That hurts horribly, I’m sure. I can’t even fathom it. But DNA doesn’t make a father. Love makes a father. Sounds like you show plenty of it. Stay up ♥️
The first line of lyrics is actually "Nights are long since you've been away"
Great scene.
I keep coming back to watch this one. ♥️♥️♥️
Best scene in BWE
this scene is gold, oen ur eyes
This moves me to tears every time I see it.
The song❤❤❤❤❤
in this scene was very touching, beautiful
I love this series
Thank you for your kind words, much regards!
stuff about fathers and sons always get to me.
A wonderful scene
One of the most touching scene
He was definitely a fantastic father to his lil ones ❤
Good pop, crazy killer..love it
I cry every time I watch this.
I will always remember you gyp rosetti :(
It's deaf, not "death". And that's the reason Capone has his son put his hand on his throat, so he can feel the vibrations.
I've never seen the show but this touched my heart
🎶 Life is a book that we study

Your buddy misses you, yes I do🎶
👨👦GOOD NIGHT👨👦
Best al Capone
Escena muy conmovedora. Excelente serie.
I’m mad I never tuned in. I will now!
He sings this song the best 😢
I would love to learn these strings and play this for my son
Should have done a spin off focusing on al capone
My mimi used to rub my back and sing to me before bed. And it was this song. I've literally never heard it anywhere else in my entire life. She didn't sing the whole thing she would start with miss your voice the touch of your touch of your hand just long to know that you understand my buddy, my buddy your Mimi loves you so. Then she would sing it over but instead of saying my buddy she would say my baby. And she would rub my back. We lost her 3 years ago this October. For years I wanted to record her singing it so I would always have it saved somewhere and if I wanted to hear her voice I can listen to it. And I never did it. And now I cant
This is the father I am. In the truest form.
thank u. so much!
This could make the Devil cry.
MrsNatari really like this video.
Very good.
You have great taste!
Actually I liked all the videos on your channel!
To my baby boy 01.21.12❤
teared up like shit
A: That ain't how you treat a buddy.
J: Is that what we are now?
A: What did you think we were?
J: Accomplices.
A: Ain't that the same thing?
Anyone else thought about Jimmy when they heard this and cried like a Sap? 😭
I sing this to my son now.
Thanks for the heads up, I'll adjust the line. ^^
...surviving is winning, son...whatever it takes...survive...
I watched this scene a long time ago.. I now have a 3 year old son... I get it now!
I freakin' cried seeing this. Awesome. Sniff sniff. :)
How do we get this on Spotify? I’ll sign up for HBO max or whatever come on
good night.
These feels...
Oh fuck...
Really wish i knew how to play this. If theres a link to the music can someone let me know please?
Is it weird I sing this to my cat?
Ask him.
no
I do too. His name is Budd
Be sure to give Budd a pet and a nose boop from me :D
anddyyxx You got it my man
Nucky and Eli reuniting is more fitting of the song than Al and his son even though it's extremely fitting as well. Nucky and Eli's relationship made this scene even more emotional. He tried to kill his brother and overthrow him but later he tried to warn nucky about a setup and everybody treated Eli like shit (respectivly so) and Eli just calls his brother to him on the boardwalk where it all started to spit him some real shit. Brother to brother, man to man. I loved this show. It was perfect.
It’s funny people bother writing “no copyright infringement intended” as if HBO’s lawyers would be like “oh, well they didn’t mean it...I guess it’s okay then.”
Where can I find the Mandolin Chords?
Damn it. Nose all runnin and where's my fucking tissues...seriously, doesn't get much sweeter
pour tout les potes ki ne sont plus la...
... et là je pleure
;)
Guys that little boy is me
That's awesome, man! Part of an amazing series (possibly one of the best ever, in my opinion).
Pretty crazy to think that he was a genuinely good father while being one of the most evil men in our countries history
most evil men our countries history is a dumb thing to say he killed other gangsters
