- Welcome to Day 4 aboard the luxurious Cunard Queen Victoria (and let’s not forget the SS Rotterdam).
We kick off our morning with a delightful breakfast spread at the buffet, fueling up for an exciting day ahead. Afterward, we disembark and take a leisurely stroll over to the historic SS Rotterdam, about 25 minutes walk away.
The SS Rotterdam is the fifth Rotterdam ship and former flagship of the Holland-America Line where she was in service from 1959 until 2007. Today ss Rotterdam is permanently moored in Rotterdam and is open to the public as a museum, restaurant, conference venue, hotel as well as having a number of Escape rooms.
We decided to take the self-guided tour which roughly 13 euros, this allowed us to look around many of the public rooms but also gave us access to formally restricted areas such as the bridge and the captains quarters which you will see shortly.
Upon returning to the Queen Victoria, we indulge in the quintessentially British tradition of afternoon tea, but slightly more relaxes as this time we had it at the buffet.
In the afternoon, it's time to pamper ourselves at the onboard spa, where we unwind.
As the evening approaches, we dress up for a sumptuous dining experience at the Britannia Restaurant. With a backdrop of elegant décor and a warm ambiance, we savour each moment of this enchanting evening onboard the Queen Victoria.

Welcome to our penultimate episode from our Cunard Queen Victoria series! What do you think about SS Rotterdam, would you have liked to experience it back when it was in service?
Hi cruise monkeys enjoying watching your cruise vlog
Thank you! Hope you are having a good weekend!
Wow!! thank you so much for this! My first cruise on Holland America was on the Rotterdam way back in 1995. Such an amazing ship, so beautiful and the artwork was so classic. I am so glad she has found a new home. and you guys have a great channel! I love the two of you being yourselves, it is so great to see! Bonus Port and Cheese, just say yes everytime!
Thank you for the wonderful comment, we’re glad you enjoyed! As you say, I t’s lovely to see she’s found a new home! 😀
Actually, Rotterdam the city, was her original homeport.
@@tonylarussa4046 thank you for that info, good to know:)
The seats on the Rotterdam remind me of the passenger trains when I was a child. The seats would flip the same way from a two seater to a four seater where a group of four could chat.
Those seats are a great idea
Your post just made our evening guys 😀
Yay! Thank you!
So wet! Love the Rotterdam tour - I'd love to see that too. I'm loving this series. Thanks boys! *hugs*
Our pleasure and great to hear you are enjoying the series 😀
Looks like you had a wonderful time. You certainly know how to enjoy yourselves and that's what life is all about. Love the look of the ship, it looks to sophisticated. X
It was a fantastic time! Yeah, it’s a beautiful ship that’s for sure 😍
How cool to see the Rotterdam ❤
It was fantastic! 🥰
Thanks lads
A great day onboard and ashore, shame about the rain, lol looks like you had a lot of fun in the Yacht club :)
It was a really nice day! Can’t let the rain put too much if a dampener on it… Yeah, it was great fun up there and a very late night!
Hi Luke and Gavin,
Another good day ashore, interesting tour on Rotterdam ship.
Like how hardly any queues in buffet!
Keep dancing 🕺
Glad you enjoyed it. There was early any waiting on this cruise, think the only queue was to afternoon tea in the queens room, that is super popular.
Gr8 vlog as usual guys….I loved QM2 and would love to go on Victoria one day. every meal we had in the MDR was excellent, I couldn’t fault it. We always finished with a cheese plate (but our servers had to go on the hunt for Brie) and an espresso. Singapore Slings were our go-to drink and I also had my zodiac sign (Taurus) served in an elephant cup..the canopies were also nice in the Chart room. Looking forward to the next vlog 🎉x
Great to hear you loved QM2 😀 we love our Cunard cruises 😀
Another great vlog. Lush food and lots of drinks. Shame about the rain, as if we don’t have enough in Wales! Xx
Glad you enjoyed! We don’t worry too much about the rain as we’re used to it 🤣
Yes, you don't want to be eating baked beans if you've not got a balcony lol. It's fascinating to see how the ships of not that long ago were, like the Carry on Cruising film almost.
Hahahahha yeah 🤣 it’s really is, you can see where the imputation has come from 😍
Hi Guys, thank you, & wow a time warp for me as this was my first cruise ship in June 99 on a Mediterranean itinerary when I was 23! although for a time, this was named Ss Rembrandt & was Black & Red, before returning to the ownership of H & A lines. Like being on the set of a 60s James Bond movie! 😂.
Keep up the great videos, I enjoy watching them. ❤ Cheryl.
Awwww it’s fabulous we could take you back in time! Bet it’s lovely reliving it and seeing it 25 years on?
Awww thank you 🤩
Thank you! You've made my day!
Another good one lads! ….. My sandwich watch goggles were on and you didn’t disappoint with the bacon butty Luke…. even if they did have the posh ones ready made… yours was more unique and special! Ha ha! Ooh and I am sooo jealous of that hot chocolate on this cold and wet night, but saying that, you two are like a warm ray of sunshine anyway 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it! Aww thank you for the lovely comments too!
That was one posh bacon roll they made up there 🤣
Another fun one guys 😊. SS Rotterdam looked lovely, shame they couldn’t have done the same with QE2 in Southampton. Great dance moves Luke 🕺 😀❤️
Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, that would have been amazing!!!! 🤩
Omg!! The Rotterdam ship looks so amazing! We are going to Rotterdam next month. Think you might have inspired us to go visit ourselves! 🥹 The food looks amazing on this ship and love the star sign drinks 🤤❤️Great video as always! 😍
You should, it’s a great way to spend a few hours! 🥰 thank you!
Great fun on a cold winters night. Shame the bar was closed on the Rotterdam. We will be there in a couple of weeks.
Thank you! Ohhh we’ll keep our fingers crossed you get nice weather as then we believe they have the bar on deck!
I am glad that the only thing Premier Cruise Line changed on her was her name. Which thankfully was restored to its original name!!
💯 as otherwise it could have been a right mess! It’s a lovely ship/museum now
Loved seeing the waterbus, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw it, need to ride on it next time. Food and Drink looked top notch, thanks a lot lads.
Yeah we need to do that next time as looks fun! The food was fantastic fair play and the drinks and service was good too! We loved that some of the cocktails looked good too, not just chucked in a glass 😀
Always wall to wall smiles with you two! Another great video - Cheers!
Thanks so much! 😀
Sailed on Rotterdam when she was sailing for Premier Cruises as Rembrandt. Beautiful ship, magnificent interiors, I remember that we sailed into a Mistral storm and she was a steady as a rock, unlike a modern cruise ship in rough seas. So glad she's been preserved.
You can’t beat a true ocean liner for stability have you sailed on QM2? She’s super stable too!
It’s a shame the QE2 wasn’t preserved and moored in London it would be nice if she was closer to home, we will of course go and visit her in Dubai at some point 🤞🏻
@@CruiseMonkeys I’ve sailed on QM2 a few times and I agree she’s as solid as a rock, extremely stable in rough, seas.
@@CruiseMonkeys As was The SS Norway, ex France. Sailed on her several times including 2 transatlantic crossings, very stable ship with less tendency to pitch, compared to QE2. She rode the waves like the much larger QM2, probably thanks to her Yourkevitch inspired hull design.
You seem to be lucky with your table for 2 in brittania. We always have fixed dining 6pm but tend to get a table next to 2 other tables for 2 and theyre so close its like a table for 6 !
Ah yeah, it can be hit or miss with 2’s, sometimes it may as well be a long table of 6! We were dining late on this cruise, so that may have helped.
You two have the best time . I have never been on a cruise but definitely tempted after watching you guys
You should give one a try! 👍
The hot chocolate looked amazing! Gotta watch out for cream on your mustache, Luke 😂
I especially liked you showing the relationship of walking through the park ahead of getting on Rotterdam, because we’re actually going to be there at the end of April and it’s a pretty good tip!
The ship looks in really good shape, and I think it’s a smart idea to have got that audio guide for €12.
It was also nice to see a bit of Queen Victoria, we’ve not been on her, and are looking forward to doing so for the first time in July.
You guys continue to amaze me with snappy editing done just on the phone! Phone or not, it’s really well done ☺️
Awww thank Bob 🥰
As mentioned to you, it’s a really nice easy walk, quite flat and through some streets. Be sure to head over the the hotel New York!
There are some wonderful guides there, one was telling us all about the cruises he’d done, showing us pictures etc. it was lovely 🥰
Wow, the Rotterdam must have been very posh in her day. There's a conservancy group here in America that is trying to restore the old SS United States. It's so cool that some of these historic ships are still around for people to visit.
Yeah, we bet it was! Would love to have experienced it. It’s fabulous that some of these ships are being preserved 😍
Love your videos!!!!!
Awww thank you 🤩
I've booked for October Spain Portugal 🎉
You are in for a treat 🙌
I love you guys
Awww 🥰
Brilliant vlog, going on the iona on 16th march, cant wait wish you two where coming you both make us laugh x🤣🤣🤣
Have a fantastic time on Iona 🤩
I see Neill again.
🥳 hehe said you would spot him again 😀
Nice video, which conjured up memories for me.
But...
You missed the epic, historic, famous Hotel New York!! You walked right past it, it's gorgeous inside.
And I've been on both ships, and there's no way whatsoever in which QV is "better" than the SS Rotterdam... and it certainly won't exist in 60 years, as it's not remarkable in any way.
In fairness we didn’t miss the New York hotel we just didn’t make a point of mentioning it, we’re more interested in ships not buildings so much.
Regards the s.s Rotterdam it’s a lovely ship and we love the nostalgia and history associated with it but we would with out a doubt much prefer to sail on QV the bathrooms decor etc are far superior and more comfortable.
Much like the titanic I’d love to see it and walk around it but to actually stay on the ship in third class sharing what one or two baths with hundred of other passengers… no thanks.
We can appreciate that the Rotterdam is a magnificent ship and yes totally agree QV won’t be around in sixty years but we’d rather cruise on her in the meantime.
Regards
Luke & Gav
I love the subtitles on these RUclips vids. Just read ' we've grabbed our goats' instead of coats 😂. Just wanted to ask, not sure If I missed it, but your box for the show. Did you pay for the Champers and treats? Also I read that alcohol coffees were not allowed on the drinks package. Is this correct or were you allowed them on the package?
Hahahaha! 🤣
Yeah, that’s around $60 for the box, which includes the champagne and some time in the lounge with the sweet treats before a Cunard Bellboy takes you to your seat. You need to book it, do it as soon as you board - it’s limited space and only done on production shows.
😅😅😅 guy's it's brilliant watching your antics. Don't know how you pack all that booze away though 😅😅
Awwww thank you! We’re not sure either, it’s constant detox at home!
hi guys found you xx not many cruisers on board looks a good ship
Welcome! Believe it was nearly full! Cunard do have a good passenger to space ratio 👍
Was the Malbec the Melodias? Had that on Iona and it was nectar.
Ohh not 💯 sure I’m afraid! Was tasty 😋
Hey guys, love the vids, how do the drinks tokens work? currently looking at going on one of these, they look good for the price.
Glad you are enjoying! On this one we had the package so it included all drinks up to something like $13. If you prefer to pay as you go you can do that too. They have a range of packages available: www.cunard.com/en-gb/activity-types/bars-and-lounges/a-world-of-drinks
did you have a drinks package or did you pay as you go? i see the beers wines spirits package is $85 per day on a 5 nght trip. is that value for money?
We took the package, we pre booked at $70pppd. For us it was good value as we like to drink wines and spirits, as well as coffees and bottles of water, it can add up, particularly as there is a 15% service charge on top of the prices you see in the menu.
Where the dogs went on SS Rotterdam, was that the 'Poop Deck' ?
See what you did there 😉🤣
