However I'm not sure if they take it lightly or not because it doesn't always appear to be said as a half joke or anything but like they're just informing you that they are in fact a bit on the stupid side of the scale. Which is a bit of a culture shock because people in the west don't really talk about themselves that way unless they're looking for sympathy or dislike themselves... Oh yeah that's another important detail I maybe didn't explain clearly enough, the genuine examples I mentioned are strangely neutral as in they're not joking but aren't saying it in a self hating way either. Actually I do wonder why intelligence in particular is treated like it's much more sensitive than almost anything else. Maybe that's a contributing culture thing if you don't make a taboo out of differences in intelligence and treat it more like any other personal strengths or weaknesses such as physical strength or appearance where people compare eachother much more freely. People act almost repulsed if someone brings up their own intelligence as anything above average and always assumed to be bragging regardless of the nature of the context.

I loved watching AGDQ every year but it’s been leaving a sour taste in my mouth ever since my coworker won one of the raffles back when death stranding was just released. He won a ps4 and he still has not gotten word back that it’s even his.
No update sadly, it's been 2 and a half years since he told me about it. The last time I had asked him about it was 6 months later after that; he had asked in the reddit if this had happened to anyone and what to do. They helped a bit and then he reached someone in their support team, had some back and forth to get more information, and then never received a reply again. The last time I talked to him was in 2020, when I moved cities. Unfortunately, that's where the story ends, on a cliffhanger.
No one talks about the metroid challenge no more. If you can make it through every metroid with no deaths, in a single sitting, you get a free samus tattoo. Lots of tattoo artists honor this, i got mine at 20, right after prime 2 came out. I admittedly took some crystal methamphetamine to keep me up, as it takes more than a couple of days. Number 2 on the gb was the most difficult, and i died once on the first prime on some bs too. It took 4 years of trying over n over, but i was lucky to have a ton of supporters. I got samus tattooed right on my neck. My mom was pretty horrified. I told her they turned down my face tattoo designs, and she calmed down. But, ya know what? Every time i look in the mirror, i feel an immense feeling of pride in my accomplishment.

As a Spanish languege native, I'm glad they never changed the names of the pokemon from English, I think the English localizations have been great, only thing I don't like is that while they never changed the pokemon names, they did changed character's names, location's names and move's names. It's kind of weird when the pokemon names sound English but everything else is Spanish. DIdn't know German and French games have different names for some pokemons as well.
Depends, in Quebec, the french part of Canada, they gave us the english names for Pokemon and characters like Ash. Weirdly, it was the same dub as France, but they most likely recorded the lines twice, once with the english name and once with the french name.

The Supreme court at the time ruled that similar mechanics don't make the game and therefor it was allowed. Now you know why there are so many ripoff versions of Monopoly out there and how they keep getting away with it.

People today often talk smack about the N64 controller, however, when it came out, I absolutely loved it and thought it was one of the most well-designed and unique video game controllers ever!!!! It really did give you the best analog control back then too!!!

XE-1AP wasn't "designed" for the Sega Megadrive. It was designed for the x68000, and others like the FM-Towns, NEC PCs, the PC-Engine, etc. The Genesis uses a standard port, that many other systems uses it as well (both before and after the MD).

During the Zelda section I spontaneously thought that if Gerudos are the reason Ganon returns every 100 years... Wouldn't it only make sense if people wanted to completely wipe them out if their existence could be seen as a major threat to the entire world? Yes even if they aren't spawning the antichrist willingly or necessarily taking his side, it would still seem like it could be avoided if there simply were no Gerudos. I think that topic could be used to write a dark and mature story in the series. To let players explore how people in the world feel about it, what possible solutions there could be and maybe even provide answers to why people aren't hostile towards them in the rest of the series. I think it would be a worthy addition to the overall lore as many people must've questioned why the obvious consequences of Gerudos continued existence doesn't result in anyone ever thinking it would better if they were extinct.
There have been canonical genocides in the Zelda franchise, so we’re already partway there. They take place between games and the only knowledge we have is from artwork and a few mentions scattered thru all the Creating a Champion books
Dang, that cancelled Retro Zelda spin off games sounds amazing! Wish it came out! Hopefully more art surface someday and I wonder if any of those concepts will find their way into a future Zelda spin off or maybe the BOTW 2 sequel.
