The sister completely missed the irony of her gleeful reply. I replied, "See you kinda just made my point. An organization wherein a bunch of men in New York dictate what people can and can't wear or dictate grooming, is one of many reasons why I won't join JW's."
Seems the GB are getting desperate to stop losing followers. Making such changes destroys their credibility. They never should have been so harsh to begin with.

@DarthMagog The advent of the internet was the death knell for most religious cults. People can do their own research now. Like Toto pulling the curtain back to disclose the old man pulling the levers.
It won’t be long until they end up saying they threw Morris out because he may have had the edge on pushing policies for claiming to speak to Jehovah so they listened to him. So with these changes they could say Morris held them back.

I don't know. Or maybe he just didn't think to tell me about these new changes that are afoot in the organization. He made no mention about the beard change when it was discovered last year. And yet I'm seeing all the people saying that their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, or other family members are being shown this video update with the bearded Mark Sanderson. I was aware of it. But I wasn't letting on to my father that I knew about the changes. I wonder why he's not telling me. Should I be grateful that he didn't or is there something amiss? I know everybody's different when it comes to organizational things. But with everybody saying that they're getting these updates despite their standings, I'm wondering what I'm not being told. I honestly wonder if my father feels ashamed about these changes. It's quite possible. But I don't want to be too judgmental on him either.
You know, from what I've heard, JW broadcasting has been instrumental in waking up the rank and file. He may actually be questioning, with all this change at such a breakneck speed (Well, breakneck for your average JW anyway.) Might be worth checking in with him later.
Well, this just feels they went from worse to bad.... Like you said, I also think that these changes are made to keep current members and their children. Because the only growth I saw was baptising their children. The years I 'was in' I hardly saw an 'outsider' getting baptised at a convention...
Intermittent reinforcement (checking in on disfellowshiped members, occasional greetings) can encourage people to keep trying to get back in longer and give the JWs a chance to sink their claws in. This is standard psychology, and even though they're late to the party on this one, it's a pretty solid strategy for bringing members back. Their children are leaving the religion, and fewer new people are signing up, and they know it. Their best hope is to bring other people back.
It sounds to me like Watchtower’s concerned about what happens to disfellowshipping witnesses when they’re unsupervised (specifically the possibility of them interacting more with the outside world increasing the chances of breaking their indoctrination). I’m wondering if the new rules are more about keeping an eye on disfellowshipping witnesses so they’re easier to manipulate back into the cult instead of expecting them to do it on their own.
Oh trust me Josh, if they'd just do that, I'd take my mask off, hang up my cloak and leave Watchtower alone. If only they put children first like they claim.

@zoegabriellamcginnis5224 that is a brilliant question Zoe! It's not an easy answer. As it stands, depending on where you live, your Mum *technically* has the right to raise you in any way that isn't harmful to you. That includes instilling cultural, religious and political beliefs usually. At least here in the U.S.A. In my personal experience, a lot of the younger guys and gals just kinda "faked it until they made it." It involved a lot of laying low, paying lipservice and very secretly stockpiling money. Sometimes quietly reaching out to relatives and friends to make an escape plan. All the while keeping their parents/caregivers happy. And, of course, reaching out to the social circle of sympathetic people who understood the challenge. If I were to do my escape again, I'd probably do something similar. On the bright side, you're ahead of me by over half a decade in figuring out what you want to do and don't, and I really commend you for figuring it out early, so please keep that in mind. Drastic action is rarely advised, calm and cool heads prevail in my experience.
In the story of Christ's prodigal son, modified by the Governing Body, when the prodigal son arrived at his Father's house, the Father said to him: Hi, it's good to see you here, and then he went to feed corn to the chickens, while the prodigal son stayed there. standing, with my mouth open, thinking, wow, after 20 years, I return to my Father's house and I only receive a hello, I wanted at least a hug and a cup of coffee, so the sad prodigal son left, two hours later the father meets him on the street, the son says to him: Hi Father, the Father doesn't respond and remains silent and thinking, the governing body only allowed him to say hi if the son goes to the kingdom hall.
It sounds to me like the Watchtower is getting desperate, since it feels like they're doing whatever they can to keep hold of the power and the people they already have. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's seeing this, though, or saying it.
Ohh i just love love love your and Fives introduction ❤ . I wish there would be a movie like that with you and Fives combatting the long haired bearded obese race on a distant planet threatening the minds of other creatures.. ok I'll go lay down abit 😅 thank-you so much ❤
1. Is "better understand Jehovah's mercy" a euphemism for "we know we've f*cked up and torn families apart over tiny things that don't matter in the real world"? If so, wow, I never thought they'd be so self-aware. Maybe even Owen Morgan can have his family back? I'm not trying to be cute, either: if you know who Telltale/Owen Morgan is, TRUST me, he hasn't had it easy. Poor guy. I know about the consequences of shunning from his videos, and if the kid is REALLY young, and the parents aren't at liberty to kick them out of the house yet, they're supposed to confine the kid to their room as much as possible and speak to them as little as possible, while still giving them the necessities of life. But this is both neglect AND abuse, because human contact is another necessity of life. I think I narrowed the list down to six or seven things...? Food, water, shelter, clothing, heat, love...I think that's it. And medical care if you're sick, but I don't think JWs are exactly encouraged to engage with medical science. 2. Hang on, though: this almost sounds like the elders are washing their hands of their own policy. "We won't help you if your parents want to abuse you in accordance with our rules," is what it sounds to me like they're saying. That was always the case, I know, but it sounds more like, instead of actively encouraging the abuse and neglect, now they're just walking away from it so that their institution can't be held legally accountable. Have they been in much legal trouble lately in America, or is this just in response to what's happening over in Europe? 3. Snort, in the cases of you and Owen Morgan, I don't think you'll be getting any calls. You're very VOCAL apostates. It's just the whole breakdown of family relationships thing that kicks me in the gut for you guys. Owen's dad was apparently a real bastard, but his mom is ONLY allowed to talk to him to get him to come back t the religion, and since he won't, they aren't really allowed to talk to one another anymore at all. Unless she leaves it, too. Which she might not. You know the issues: I don't have to tell you. It's just really sad. 4. "SLACKS"! XD And I just "love" how he talks to the congregation like they're toddlers. It's freaking Dora the Explorer.
I assume it's like Vegas. Kingdom Hall Jehovah is fine with business casual to keep the atmosphere of the restaurant, but Bethel Jehovah is like "Nah bro, you ain't getting in here with those shoes."
These are not new revisions but back in the 70s they had these same rules in place but within six months they recall that practise. So it is nothing new. PEOPLE ARE NEW SO THEY WILL NOT KNOW.
@@viviennemorgan7217 Yeah, there has been a lot of changes. Beards, pantsuits for women, ties and suit coats no longer required. It's been a rollercoaster and that's just the dress and grooming changes.
My Lord, I believe that the Governing Body will next allow for the celebration of birthdays and holidays in order to attract new sheep. But they will word it in a way that it would be a “matter of conscience” so there would still be guilt and fear amongst the ones who were there longer. Wonder how these decisions are going to affect the Caleb and Sophia cartoons.
Lol they are scared by the European governments! AND want money back! I could never go back anyway, they've hurt far too many people, but it's a small step in the right direction, ngl. Btw, I'm laughing my socks off, good job, Lord Magog! ❤❤😂
When you spent 20 years not talking with your daughter after she left the congregation because you can't speak with those people, and then you are suddently told that you can 😮😮
What about the people that are dying right now because they can’t have a blood transfusion, but they can grow a beard and women can wear slacks before they die. 😮
As I have said before never been a JW, but from the outside looking in, it seems that they are doing things to seem less cult like, without realizing it makes them actually seem more cult like. Like saying see we do not ignore them (disfellowshipped, disassociated, and ex-JW's) if they come to a kingdom hall they have the privilege of certain members of the congregation saying hi to them, see how nice we are.
I say give it time. You start seeing females taking leadership positions within the congregation just like mainstream Christian. This is due to the lack of male leadership at the local level. They'll probably have older females do shepherding calls for other females. Especially if it has to do with sensitive topics. They may not feel comfortable speaking to older non-relative men.
I sure can. It's in English, it was an Elder's letter that went exclusively to the elders. Ron POMO has a copy on his Twitter, as do I.
G-d told JWs no beards but also told the Amish to grow beards after marriage. Yeah, that tracks.

What’s the difference between visiting Bethel and wearing shirt. tie and attending Kingdom Hall and wearing casual shirts is there different Gods ✔️
Dude, I can't even lie, they fooled me. Of course, the 80s predates me slightly, so that might be why 😅
If they do a U-turn on these changes, it will cause even the most ardent follower to blink.

It's kind of a funny duality isn't it?
I say give it time. You start seeing females taking leadership positions within the congregation just like mainstream Christian. This is due to the lack of male leadership at the local level. They'll probably have older females do shepherding calls for other females. Especially if it has to do with sensitive topics. They may not feel comfortable speaking to older non-relative men.
Slowly but surely it's all coming together for us and falling apart for them.
I am told less and less people are willing to take platform duties and flaking.
Hi Darth. I am italian ex-jw youtuber. You say "Conspiring to end a marriage". Can you tell me the source or the document of this sentence? Thanks
I sure can. It's in English, it was an Elder's letter that went exclusively to the elders. Ron POMO has a copy on his Twitter, as do I. And there's another high quality scan on Reddit here: www.reddit.com/r/exjw/comments/1bi9o4b/hopefully_this_isnt_a_duplicate_post_march_letter/ Take all needed precautions obviously if sharing a device with a PIMI :)
