So happy for you!!!!! Beating cancer is a huge project and you made it!!!!! And what a major step forward for your channel!!!! We love watching your channel!!!
Congratulations on your 1,000 subscriber count and an even bigger CONGRATULATIONS on ending all of your treatments!!!! That is wonderful! Janelle, you look great and I have been loving seeing your beautiful, curly hair grow back. I am envious of those curls, BTW.
Woot! 💃🎊🎊🍾 1000 subscribers and finishing your medicine! Congratulations 🎉. And ranking all the Jane Austen retellings- go gettum’ girl - that alone is quite the feat.
I’m not naturally drawn to retellings, I’m with you that I like it when it’s ‘inspired by’ but also a story in its own right. Some great sounding mysteries in here!
HI, JANELLE!!! BIG TIME CONGRATS on finishing your treatment meds and gaining 1000 subscribers!!! I am so happy for you on both counts. You impart such a great 'keep on truckin' attitude and enjoy your life so much, sharing your happiness and joy, and always so prepared for what you present to us, just like in this video. The best to you always. D
Love seeing your thoughts on all of these! I was happy to see the Tracy Kiely mysteries on your list. I really enjoyed them when I read them years ago! I would love to read them again.
Congratulations on 1,000 subscribers and finishing your treatment, Janelle! I look forward to seeing a new video by you and always enjoy them. I do have Death at Pemberley and The Other Bennett Sister on my TBR, but haven’t read them yet.
👏🏻 Again, big congrats on finishing your chemo! 👏🏻 I'm not a fan of retellings, in general, but I *loved* The Other Bennet Sister so much! Oh my gosh, so good! It's funny, I thought I was the only one who didn't care for Longbourn! 😲 At least I'm in good company! 😉 As always, I had to add a few books to my wishlist! 🤓 Thanks for sharing! ❤️
Congratulations on 1000 subscribers! I’m so glad I recently found your channel. But even more, congratulations on the treatment completion and all the best wishes and prayers for continued good health. Isn’t it amazing the amount of retellings on these six masterpieces. I haven’t read most of these, but I did like Longbourne. I have already added Carrie Bebris and the Joan Aiken books you mentioned along with the finished edition of Sanditon, and will be adding Tracy Kiely now too.💕
Wonderful that your chemo is finished. All the best for the future. So delighted that The Other Bennet Sister came in at number one! I loved that book so much. I've favourited this video because there are so many recommendations I want to follow up on, Carrie Bebris being first and having just finished Mansfield Park I'm keen to read a few of the connected books you mentioned.
I didn't know you were on this "journey" but I am so glad to hear you are done with your treatments. My sister just finished her chemo recently as well. Best wishes for good health. I enjoy your channel so much, even though I don't think I've read any of the books you have recommended on this vid or your other vids, but I did pick up The Vanished Days by Susanna Kearsley that you talked about in another video, and I am really enjoying it so far, so thank you for that. Thought I would start making a dent in my "Janelle says it's good" list! So happy for you that you achieved the 1K subscriber milestone!
Hooray for completing your treatments! And congrats on the 1K subscribers! I always love it when I see a new video of yours. I am just beginning my breast cancer “chapter”. I am looking forward to the day I can exclaim “that chapter is over!” May your next chapter be healthy and joyous! ❤️
I'm sorry to hear that you have to "read this chapter". It's not fun! I hope that all your treatments go well. May you "chapter" be a short one. And your healing journey successful.
@@TooFondofBooksJH I really liked the first book. The Gothic parts of the 2nd book seemed a bit much for me but I thought perhaps a nod to Northanger. I am enjoying the 3rd one so far. They are well written and entertaining.
I am thrilled about both points! You deserve all the love. I wish I could subscribe twice. Your knowledge of books is amazing. I am so glad you are finished with your treatments. I wish you good health and happiness!
Yay for finishing treatments!! Woohoo! And your 1k subscribers, too!! That's awesome!! This is such a great video! I'm reading The Other Bennet Sister right now-should finish tonight and I LOVE it! I picked up Pride and Prescience after you mentioned it in another video so I do hope to get to that one before the month is over. I'm writing down your top ones- thanks so much. 😊
Sadly, I have not read any of these books. But I know where I will start when I begin to be more mindful of reading retellings to especially celebrate Jane Austen, and when I have read her books firsthand other than what I have watched on TV/DVDs. I have read one retelling though: 'Pride' by Ibi Zoboi which takes place in Brooklyn. I did like it as a YA romance as a do not read too much YA. And I did like another book by Zoboi (not an Austen related book) titled 'My Life as an Ice Cream Sandwich' set in Harlem. Anyway, when I become serious about reading Austen retellings I will definitely start with 'The Other Bennet Sister' and the series by Bebris. Thanks so much for all the care you put into this presentation. D.
Congrats on finishing your meds! And 1000 subscribers! This was an awesome list. I have only read Death Comes to Pemberley which I found disappointing. But I loved the trilogy you mentioned by Pamela Aiden. So well done!
This was so helpful because I've tried a couple retellings and didn't care for them.. but you ranked those low as well so I'm interested to try a couple of the ones you ranked higher!
Yay!!!! Goodbye pills! And I wish you healthy days ahead. I'm so happy for you. I love books and all of your comments, etc, but this is the best news ever.😊
Congratulations on 1000 subscribers! I am enjoying your channel so much! Such good news about taking the last of the chemo pills! Thank you for sharing that with us! I totally agree with Eligible and Longbourn. I hated them both, and I do not say that lightly. Thank you for the Carrie Bebris recommendation. I'm really enjoying Pride and Prescience! I just finished reading Jane Fairfax by Joan Aiken and really liked it.
Hi Janelle, I'm so, so pleased for you on both things but especially the health news. I haven't watched all of this video yet as I'm going to take my time to listen to your opinion on these books and will want to stop the video to note down the ones I want to read. Much love from England xxx
You completely deserve 1000 suscribers and even more 😂😂 Yeeey for taking your last pill 👏🏻 I added so many mystery books from this video 😉 and I found the Catherine Bebris mysteries in my ebook library application after watching your previous video 😀😀 I should read Murder at Mansfield Park since I find Fanny annoying even in the original book 😂😂
Most importantly....congratulations!! I am so happy that you are finished with your oral treatment!!! YIPEEE I absolutely so agree with you about Longbourn by Jo Baker was (to my mind) a big zero. I completely agree with you, 1000% !! WOW what a lot of books you reviewed in this project !!
Hello again, I was almost going to read the other Bennett sisters this year, but oh well. The other one I almost read is PD James death comes to Pemberely but I wasn't interested in a mystery this month. Shocking! I know. Well they're still next year because I read a lot of Jane Austen this month. Love and aloha
I remember really disliking AMS’s Emma-it just didn’t make sense with modern day culture and technology! I liked Eligible at the time, but I’ve read some problematic stuff about it since reading it. So both of those would be lower on my list as well. I read An Assembly a long time ago- don’t remember too much about it. I have Other Bennet Sister on my list to read in August-looking forward to it. Congratulations on 1k and on being done with chemo!!
Thank you. This was such an interesting video. Agree with your ranking of Longbourn. I was fine with the part set in the Bennet's household but disliked following the soldier's story. My reaction to The Other Bennet sister was the other way round from yours and with the trilogy , I didn't like the middle book but I loved the first and last. So all back to front from your opinions!
So happy for you!!!!! Beating cancer is a huge project and you made it!!!!! And what a major step forward for your channel!!!! We love watching your channel!!!
Thank you!
Worthy of celebration indeed. Such good news regarding your health. I am so pleased for you.
Thank you, Helen!
Congratulations on your 1,000 subscriber count and an even bigger CONGRATULATIONS on ending all of your treatments!!!! That is wonderful! Janelle, you look great and I have been loving seeing your beautiful, curly hair grow back. I am envious of those curls, BTW.
The curls are a blessing and a curse! But I am so glad that they are growing back!
Woot! 💃🎊🎊🍾 1000 subscribers and finishing your medicine! Congratulations 🎉.
And ranking all the Jane Austen retellings- go gettum’ girl - that alone is quite the feat.

Oh cool! I haven't heard anyone else talk about them!
Congratulations on 1,000 subscribers and finishing your treatment, Janelle! I look forward to seeing a new video by you and always enjoy them. I do have Death at Pemberley and The Other Bennett Sister on my TBR, but haven’t read them yet.

Thank you, Lu! I'm discovering through these comments that my opinion about Longbourn is not actually an unpopular opinion.

Thank you, Emily! That is the big problem with modernizing Jane Austen - it doesn't fit in our culture.

Nice list! I read Eligible last year for JAJ, and I hated it! I could tell you why, but it's probably not worth it.
Fair enough!
