Hi, great interview. Gave me much insight to the path ahead in regards to my journey of becoming a reservist in the army. I am 56y old, physical to keep up with a 35y old and still beat them, good at learning first aid and all else. But age and wisdom might have a problem authority if at times out of place and will have to be constraint controlled during the course of the army process at camp. I look forward to the journey...
Great podcast. I agree with keeping it to 3 weeks and then weekends for the others, to not target only uni students or government workers but everyone else that can’t take more than 3 weeks off/ with families etc. makes me want to rejoin again. Ps. he would be a punish to room with lol
Even if you come back after 5 years you don't do "Kapooka" again per se, you just live on Blamey barracks and they give you the timings for the things you need to go to, you're not living with a platoon
there's not a lot of PT during the 3 week course but in saying that there will be running. The entry test to get in involves a beep test then when you are serving you must pass a Basic Fitness Assessment (BFA) every 12 months for reservists which involves a 2.4k run. Outside of that, running is a very basic skill for a tactical professional so it'd benefit you a lot by starting to work on it
Great video thank you. Im off to kapooka,on monday fulltime l. Keen but nervous 😄 thanks fkr the tips. Just a question. They show you hiw to make the beds? And also the agreement you said you have to memorise are u expected to know that before you go in or they teach u that also?
Good luck with it! They will show you how to make your bed but learning how to do a "hospital corner" before you leave will help. No you are no expected to know the agreement before you leave. Not all platoons do it either. From memory, I can't recall my platoon doing it
good video. i'm in perth and currently at about half the requirement of the PFA (9 pushups of 15, 25 situps of 45, 4.5 beep of 7.5). is the program you are referring to the video an online or in person one? i am just too far to do anything in person over here. i'm trying to get in as a reserves armoured officer, currently waiting for my defence interview.
That's great to hear! My Battle Ready program is a fully online program so that you can do it anywhere in Australia. Learn more about it and how to get started here: info.outperformfitness.com.au/getbattleready
I do have a question, havent really found too much on this and I've seen some differing opinions but do recruits for the reserve course shower in the morning? Or is it, bed making, change into clothes, shave and thats it?
Hi mate. All of my training is online so you can train with me from anywhere. Let's book in a call and have a chat about it. Please visit this link and select a time that suits you info.outperformfitness.com.au/battlereadycalendar
Whem I went in back in 1999, them three jobs listings, what a crock I had 1: Infantry 2: Armour 3: Gun Number, then they told me we have Medic, pay clerk and other ones. So I was pissed but it is what it is the during trade training I was able to Corps Transfer to Armour and happy days. So whatever jobs the are in critical in they will tell you that BS that it isn't available so they will do that to you, and with the psych testing they pulled me up on a question about have you ever thought of jumping off a building etc something like that so I said no, and they expanded on that a bit more. Dam looking at the comments here so many chocos not regulars. Haha I bet you are making you bed at home like you did a Kappoka??? Haha we've all done it mate. Far out - Hallway 12 was mine, Death by Powerpoint omg how can you not sleep through it all. Well that sucks not having your march out at Kapooka bro coz its a way better feeling of achievement so that really suck for you chocos. Another tip if your going in as a full timer make sure your fit for deployment, I say that because there's some cats that end up slacking off and and don't pass their AIRN testing.
If anyone knows how much we get time off per month or per year ? For example flying Back to Perth WA? Is worth it to keep renting your house back home or ?
@nikolan6366 reserves you only do one night a week and the rest you work your normal job so you still need your regular home to live. Full time you will move to different locations so you will not keep renting the house you are in
Hi thanks for that I was meant to say for example my current house I’m renting in Perth WA and if I’m working in NSW or another state , as a full time Best idea is to cancel the rental contract once I’m in ADF or?
3 years! Far out 😮 some good tips and advice, well done 👍
Yeah mate he stuck with it. Thanks

That'd make it slightly more bearable haha

How’d you go bro? I’m going in a month
Hi I am interested to know how much running is done in the 3 weeks basic training? I've never been a runner so it does concern me.

Definitely! The PFA is very misguided with the fitness requirement once you are in
Can you interview someone from airforce please?
Check this one out. There's also another in the "career chat" playlist on my channel

Is this in regard to reserves or full time service?
Both

hi, quick question, If I have a few allergies, can I still join?
that's a question better answered by recruiting but I would say that it'd be case by case with allergies
Fair enough. Thanks for the reply.
I’m sorry to say but he would have been a punish to be around whilst there.
What makes you think that?
Promo_SM 😴
does that mean something?
