i saved this as a large file and took it to my local office depot on a flash drive. They have large format printers and laminators and i had them print a 20x30 and laminate them and it turned out great.

How did you save it that way?

To get your antenna rotater correct, Turn your controller to 360 or north. Then loosen the antenna in the rotater and turn antenna to north, 360. Tighten antenna and your are done.

Thanks for this information Dave, just what I have been looking for. I live in Lydd which is about 3 miles from Dungeness in Kent UK. I put my grid reference in but the only way to get the map was to accept an estimate location which was in my old home town of London, don't know why. I don't think that the direction will be that much affected. Thanks again, very helpful.

The *help* page for *Location* also mentions that you can just enter a Major City or City, State. The *Distance* input is in Kilometers (1.6 mile per Kilo), leave blank for globe.

I was listening to a 40 meter net work the long path to a Japaneses contact from North America (for some reason when I think of DXing - 20 meters and above come to my mind). I believe use of the long path and gray line was a seasonal decision. I guess under the proper conditions, in conjunction with use of the gray line, the long path may work better than the short one in some cases. :) ... I will never be certain of this because all I use is a wire hanging from a tree.

Dave, if one knows the call sign of the ham you are trying to contact, can't one also look up their call in QRZ and go to the "detail" tab, click on it and it gives the bearing from your location to the stn in question plus the short and long distance PLUS when ones license is about to expire, which according to your information yours is about to expire in Feb. 2022!!! 73 es tnx fer all u do!!!

It appears the headings are all true, but I suppose in most parts of the world magnetic isn’t much different? Here in south eastern PA its about 11 degrees different.

That is really great generator, I really appreciate it. However, you need to take into account that boundaries and cities database is severely outdated in Central and Eastern Europe and Asia. Especially former USSR has no boundaries between today's countries, some cities in Poland have their German names as before WW2 and some are just wrong. But it gives you an opportunity to learn some geographical history 😉

I held my Smartphone camera directly above (Zenith) my location on a globe and took a picture. For the other half I didn't worry as I have QRP.

2:34 - I wonder how was this done during the 1940s... I'm sure the Azimuthal Maps back then are as accurate as todays?

David Rumsay has a lot of maps. Also the " Hammond air age map from 1942" it is the same as the gleason map (FE map) from 1892.
