JUST found this video when I searched for Silhouette Cameo Stamping & I'm in LOVE with your thoroughness with the kit! THANKS for all of your hard work! You've made my life a lot easier. LOL!
I find this material repels ink so I gently sand the very top of it with find sand paper and it works great!! I would suggest you put your stamp on a block and genltyl sand it, then stamp. Works like a charm.
Awesome, Kristina. I've been on the fence about this so it's nice to see you "test-drive" it for us first and give us your impressions. Really interesting to see how thin the material is and how the material interacts with the different inks. Thanks!
When I buy cheap stamps, I condition them with an eraser (like sandpaper) and they take ink better. Maybe if you rub one over the whole sheet before cutting the material, you'll be able to use more inks! As for having to arrange the intricate stamps, you could try adhering it to another layer of stamp material that's more "robust" - a thicker version of the image or a rectangle? I guess you could also adhere it to a block, but I that might cancel out the convenience. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for this video. I am considering the Silhouette and I had NO idea you could make stamps on it! I am not sure I need to make stamps...but could be surer cool!
I've sort of scanned some of the comments and haven't found one with my idea yet. How about cutting two of the same item, since it is so small - thin - and stacking them up would work better - a little more oomph to it. Then glue them together somehow if it is better. Commercial stamps are not anywhere nearly as thin as the material they use in the kit. Plus it might help with the unwanted ink on the sides. LOL wouldn't you know, the message just before mine does suggest the doubling up also!
We had a demo of this on create and craft tv last week here in the uk, and it was recommended that if you don't use up a whole sheet of the material, save your project and open it up when you want to reuse the sheet and place your new designs around the original one, then delete the orig design so it doesn't recut. Hth Kathleen Mc x Ps thanks for the review. Unfortunately it is only recommended for use with the cameo and portrait and not my orig graphtec craft robo machine.
Thanks for the honest evaluation. I have been researching stamp making with Silhouette and you video was so helpful. I am curious to know if you could use another type of stamping material that would result in a thicker stamp. I work in polymer and want to make stamps that add texture. Perhaps another video topic? Thanks again!
Cricut also manufacturers stamp material. I bought it but haven't tried it yet. Watching you make this stamp on the Silhouette has inspired me to dig it out and try.
Well, I'm late to the party but this kit is still available and I want to try it. It will arrive tomorrow. Thanks for the info and showing how it stamps with different ink; I'm hoping Gina K's Amalgam ink will be a winner. I would have liked to have seen you use the included ink for review purposes, but the tips to get this to work well are appreciated :)
I would think you could take the printed image and lay a piece of acetate over it then glue the stamp material down to the acetate with glossy accents to keep it in place without having to line it up each time you want to use it? It would mean using repositional tape on your acrylic block but might be worth it? Just a thought. Love your videos.
Such an awesome video! So many helpful tips. I loved seeing what inks it worked well with (versafine surprised me too) and the idea of printing out the image to line it up. Love the idea of just buying the stamping material and mat too. Thanks a bunch! :)
I wonder if it would be possible to do it more like the usual cling stamps we see in shops, by adding another layer of the stamp material to the back of the intricate cut that's just the general shape. Don't really know how to explain my idea, It would end up with a blobby shape on layer 1, then stuck to that would be the "Halloween" script, so you don't have to fiddle about lining all the letters up every time? I haven't used the stamp material, so I don't know how well it would stick to itself, whether you'd need a layer of glue or something, or a different "base" material, but mounting it on an intermediate surface and sticking that surface to your blocks seems like a plan.
Have one of these kits on order. I watched the video from Silhouette and the ink really beads up the first time, so they say to keep inking the stamp until it stops. I think the material really does need 'seasoning' first . As I need Italian wording I make my own designs and my TC Stampmaker sachets aren't always big enough so I'm looking forward to trying out this material . Thanks for your honest impressions - we know we can count on you to do a no fuss test run!
I'm noob to this, but I would like to make some custom tea towels. Are the ink waterproof? What cutter are you using? Do you have a tutorial on what is needed in order to custom cut? I see so many lovely digital downloads online, but no step by step instructions on how to get it from digital print all the way to printed fabric.
LOVE the look! Do you think maybe the other inks would work better if you put down a layer of Versa Mark first? Perhaps it just needed to be "primed" first?
I have been wondering about this product snd thank you for your honest detailed review. I may try it, if it goes on sale, but I an not in a hurry to run out and buy it. Luckily I di ien snd love the amazing Luxe inks, but do think the stamping material looks very flimsy. Ps: I love Silhouette your videos and Hope you will keep them coming. ♡
I don't have a silhouette (due to finances), but this kit seems a bit out of my comfort zone. I tend to over think things and this would drive me crazy hahaha. Tfs. DD
Thanks for that review. I have been debating buying the stamp material and mat. However, I do not have any of the Momento Luxe ink pads...I have mostly Stampin Up ink and 2 Momento Inks. So, I would have to buy some different ink pads to make this work well with the exception of Versamark. So, don't know if I will be purchasing any time soon.
Thank you for posting this review and tips! I bought the stamp material (6.99) and mat (4.99) from Amazon Prime but haven't tried it out yet. I was also wondering if you had ever tried the Teresa Collins stamp maker? I also have that and was wondering what you thought of it? thanks!
Hello, I like it wat you do, you make nice video,s. Can you tel my wat the letter-type you from te stamp from Halloween is on the Silhouette Cameo My English is not so good, but can you my help. Gretige from Philippine from Holland
As usual, you have such amazing ideas. Love your template for arranging your stamp! I wonder if using Ranger Archival ink on the stamp material to create a more receptive 'tooth' on the acrylic would make it better with other inks. I've let archival sit overnight on some stamps, then cleaned it off and found it works very well usually. Just a thought.
please please please.... can you make more videos for the silhouette? santa has brought me the cameo and I'm not using the machine a lot, could you please make more tutorials? I've seen the videos you have and I like all lthem
Patricia, If you want to learn how to really use your Silhouette, what I did was take a class at www.onlinecardclasses.com/ called "A Cut Above". I now use my Silhouette for most of my art projects and love it!!!
I'm laughing so hard on this video I bought the silly kit but my computer won't work with silhouette don't know why so I'm laughing at your problems and wished I hadn't bought it lol

This was SO helpful, Kristina. I especially liked seeing how the stamp material cut out and what inks you found worked best. Thanks a ton for this.
I find this material repels ink so I gently sand the very top of it with find sand paper and it works great!! I would suggest you put your stamp on a block and genltyl sand it, then stamp. Works like a charm.
I think I might purchase this. I plan on stamping more flowers than anything and I think I won't have many issues with this. TFS!

That's so cool I didn't know that we could do that. The things they think of for us crafters

wow. This is so cool!!! It's obviously not perfect but great for DIY stamps
Cricut also manufacturers stamp material. I bought it but haven't tried it yet. Watching you make this stamp on the Silhouette has inspired me to dig it out and try.
Thank you so much for this review. Seems like just getting hold of the stamp material and mat is the way to go. Great video thanks.
Thanks for the review. Very helpful, and I do appreciate the Silhouette videos as I find that wonderful machine quite intimidating!

Really appreciate the review! Saw a tape of this being demoed at CHA and was curious.

I appreciate this demo- tooooo much work for the cost
Just purchased this kit thanks to your video
GREAT video! Thank you so much for explaining everything so well. I feel very confident making my first stamp :)
do you think i can use a cricut to cut the same way? I didn't like the cricut stamp starter kit and heard the silhouette one was better.
Hi there.
With what blade did you cut the stamp with. Can you use the normal blade or is there a special blade for it
Such an awesome video! So many helpful tips. I loved seeing what inks it worked well with (versafine surprised me too) and the idea of printing out the image to line it up. Love the idea of just buying the stamping material and mat too. Thanks a bunch! :)

Did you condition the stamp before you tried to use it. I find that some stamps bubble until you clean it out even file it alittle
Tfs Kristina! I think the material is cheap. Just like when you purchase clear stamps...high quality photo polymer vs. acrylic.
LOVE the look! Do you think maybe the other inks would work better if you put down a layer of Versa Mark first? Perhaps it just needed to be "primed" first?

hi what was your pen tool you were using, didn't quit catch what you said, thanks :)
Hi! Just a heads up, the purchase links seem outdated. Can't find 'em on the page. Thank you for the video! Great info!
This video is 7 years old. I don't think the items are sold anymore.
You can order from South Africa. Its still available here just search for Shop 'n Scrap
Excellent video
Neat!! How are you going to store the stamps you make?
Have you double inked... Versatile and pigment to get some inky tooth? I was concerned the material seemed very thin...
You can get ink to grip on the material if you go over it with a dry magic eraser sponge. Same goes for cheap ready made stamps.
Thank you for posting this review and tips! I bought the stamp material (6.99) and mat (4.99) from Amazon Prime but haven't tried it out yet.
I was also wondering if you had ever tried the Teresa Collins stamp maker? I also have that and was wondering what you thought of it? thanks!
Thank you so mutch for this review, been wondering about this for awhile :-)
Very helpful, thanks!
I wonder if I can use the material on my Cricut 🤔

thanks for this review...very helpful!
Did you try priming with Versamark then using another ink to stamp?
thanks for doing the review
Thanks for sharing this.
do you have any designs on the silhouette designs store?
Thanks for doing such a great review of the kit! I would love to be able to purchase your Halloween file - any chance it will be for sale?
Thank you.
The cute is cute. What's the name of it
Does this work with the Silhouette SD?
Do you think this could be done with the portrait silhouette?
Yes, I believe so
Have you ever tried the cricut version?
How much does the kit cost?
Very sad - this appears not to be available in the UK. I can get a mat but not the stamping material......
Hi, whats the name if the font that you used for the word Halloween? It's a super cute font. = )
It's my own lettering. Sorry, no font. :)
I have tried two computers, two networks, and two browsers, but no sound. Any ideas?
$29
Nope!
TFS!!!
Hi! I'd love to have this Halloween cut design as a free download! ^^ (Y)
