Ravel’s La Valse piano solo version is so difficult to play both technically and musically even for the virtuosity pianists. Scarbo is typically regarded as one of the most difficult piano repertoires in the stage (except for unknown minor humongous pieces such as Liszt’s transcriptions, Godowsky’s paraphrases, and Sorabji). However, I think the Coda of La Valse(from 9:12) is even harder than any of the part in Scarbo.
Pianists who have played La Valse don’t play the Coda 3 chord progressions and most of them play these parts with 2 chord progressions because these parts are extremely difficult even for them.
But, Yekwon Sunwoo did it just flawlessly. Whenever I watch Yekwon Sunwoo play fast 3 chord progressions perfectly, I feel my heart swell.

I was privileged enough to see Yekwon Sunwoo perform this piece in a high school auditorium in Saratoga, CA. The whole building and audience levitated into another dimension. He channeled all the waltzes of the Romantic era into one spectacular mind blowing waltz!

역시나 어떤 라발스보다도 역동적이고 왈츠의 현장을 눈앞에 두고있는 생생함 활력이 느껴지는 연주인듯 마음이 설레고 긴장되는것 같구여 건반하나하나 살아있는것 같음

라이브로 봤던 그때의 충격이 되살아나네요 넘 멋진연주!!

2021: The most outstanding pianist in phrasing of dynamics! Density of notes doesn’t allow appreciation of the nuances of the motifs. It is truly Ravels Opus magnum!!!

몇년전 수원 인계동에서 선우예권씨의 피아노 연주를 듣고 딱히 그렇게 감흥이 느껴지지 않았는데
지금 다시 들어보니 이만한 이상적인 연주를 찾아 뵐수가 없네요
크게 감탄하며 잘 듣고 갑니다,
예전서부터도 이렇게 훌륭하셨는데도 제 귀에 안들어온것 뿐인지...ㅋㅋㅋ
