Great video mate, already installed 11 and loving it so far, it's great to see everything explained in detail here! I've so much love for both the takes feature and the key scale in the piano roll, both long awaited!
Got mines today ( Suite) and I have to be honest - I didnt think there would be much improvements for me personally but I was wrong and glad i got it . Great video again Ritchie.
I love the fact that you pay attention to the MIDI parts, as you mention in this vid, I’m not a real keyboard player but your tips helping me a lot... Thanks. Can’t wait for the next vid’s of Live 11 from you.
Got 11 Standard version, at first i thought not much for me in the upgrade but now im starting to see, the midi plugins with the LFO ,envelope follower and the shaper are a huge step forward, the scale feature should have been done long ago but really happy with it, drawing midi notes like a pen tool with proberbility added is going to change my workflow. Im totaly happy with the upgrade, they dont actually do a good job of showing us Standard users whats so good about the upgrade but it all makes sense to me now.
There’s always confusion about the different versions but I still think Standard is the best version for most and if you have the extra cash at some point you can upgrade to Suite but it’s normally not necessary.
Nice review. When you select all of the same note in the piano roll you can simply click the white or black key to select them all rather than using your mouse to drag across the screen.
Im staying on 10 for a bit more. It has everything i need. Theres some nice tweaks though. However, I did actually run through my 90 day trial pretty quick and made a track out of it.
I'd say so, 10 was a good leap forward and 11 adds a whole load of features but at the end of the day it's down to you because if you're already making the music you want in 9 there's no need unless there's a new feature you really love.
You can actually install Ableton 11 alongside Ableton 10 and have them run both on the same machine. I still run both and plugins should be automatically picked up in the new version (no need to reinstall). I have noticed some plugins have needed to be updated (Native Instrument's Massive for one) as they were crashing v11 for me.
I only ever use Ableton so can't test that but I really don't think rewire would have been taken out - I'm guessing it's either a bug or something in your installation/setup that's not worked.
A little but not as much as everyone else has been reporting. Generally the moment anything starts glitching or slowing my machine down I will always freeze instruments to free up some resources and that usually helps stuff but think there are still the odd little gremlins within v11.
That’s very strange, are you sure that v11 you’ve opened? Usually it installs the new version alongside the old so you can use both - it’s not a physical upgrade on your computer, it’s a new app
@@treyhudson73 Oh weird, maybe it's something they've taken out there. I know the Option.txt file does work as I've put a display tweak in there myself. I don't think you need the 'EnableMapToSiblings' in there any more, it's now a standard option.
ABLETON support really, really sucks. IT is probably second worst after NI. Ableton Live is not the same product and company as it used to be. I do not recommend it anymore.
I can finally get rid of my ultra CPU hungry Komplete Kontrol plugin for chords and scales. If you didn't believe in God before that, here's your reason
@@DirtySecretz yeah definitely. Love NI to pieces but some stuff are really far from ideal considering the engineering resources they have. Really looking forward to downloading Live 11
I so I agree with this reply these bobble-heads RUclipsrs just want views, and hopefully get sponsors to back up their rehearse BS. Their music making skills is so robotic, useless, and rhythm-less. No upgrade is going to make you that big hit wonder. If u don't have the soul u ain't got it!!! I couldn't even watch this review all the way through, words, words, and more words.
@UCllb9wWk96c3UCE9ww4PIGw well that certainly seems like a closed minded view. Because I did a video on the upgrade of some software I don’t have any soul? I’m not getting sponsored on this channel, I just make videos about stuff I like and try to pass on the knowledge.

Wonderfully clear explanations and good pacing - thanks!

Thanks!
It has LFO without needing Max 4 Life! I'm so happy!
Wow that midi focus is a game changer for me. The comping features for loops is great too.
Great overview. Diving into 11 this weekend 👍🏻
Cant wait to have a play!
I have been following the YT videos on abelton 11 but didn’t even know it had focus midi. That’s awesome 👏🏽
Compared to the old way it’s miles better!
Very Intuitive, I'm a Logic user and i'm switching . Appreciated the vid and I love your latest tune - Tribute
I've been BETA Testing Live 11 for 2 months and I didn't know about the Focus Mode. 😳
I saw the button but never fiddled about with it.
Honestly I think it’s one of the best improvements, used to tear my hair out doing it the old way lol

Thanks again man
Looks good, downloading upgrade later!! 👍
Nice review. When you select all of the same note in the piano roll you can simply click the white or black key to select them all rather than using your mouse to drag across the screen.
I did this by accident and had to figure out how I did it lol. But it's another tidy shortcut to one's workflow.
Yes this goes back many versions of Ableton, definitely a handy hack if the notes are all on the same key!
Comping has been my #1 wish list feature since maybe live somewhere around 8 or 9 so for me that single feature would have been worth it..
This is an amazing tutorial. Thank you very much. I'm wondering why almost nobody talks about the individual note pitch automation on expression mode.
Im staying on 10 for a bit more. It has everything i need. Theres some nice tweaks though. However, I did actually run through my 90 day trial pretty quick and made a track out of it.
Maybe specify what's different from standard vs suite
excellent info - downloading now. Can i ask which skin are you using on live 11 in this video
It’s the “Sonic Academy Tweaked” skin from livethemes.co
Best/worst place you can visit😂
I have 9 so I guess 11 would be quite a decent upgrade?
I'd say so, 10 was a good leap forward and 11 adds a whole load of features but at the end of the day it's down to you because if you're already making the music you want in 9 there's no need unless there's a new feature you really love.
@@DirtySecretz Thanks! I think there is enough to want to upgrade.
Hi, what is the theme you use
I use the Sonic Academy Tweaked theme from Livethemes.co
www.livethemes.co/themes/sonic-academy-tweaked/3553
would it be safe to upload for all the VST? never updated before Ableton (as recent new user)

@@DirtySecretz awesome. That helps a lot. Thank you! 🙏
Have they fixed the Audio to midi feature? Was going to upgrade to 10 but didnt think it was worth bothering
Was it broken? Always worked fine for me but I haven't tried it Ableton 11 yet
I can’t believe I can’t use it in rewire mode. Have you tried use it as rewire device inside another DAW? Pls share it
I only ever use Ableton so can't test that but I really don't think rewire would have been taken out - I'm guessing it's either a bug or something in your installation/setup that's not worked.
Have u had issues with cpu usage??.

My audio Effects & Lay out is the SAME as My Version 10, not like yours...
Any help...i dont have the new Reverb ect..

i have 10 standard do i get a free upgrade to 11?
Only if you bought Ableton 10 in the past month or so, there was a promotion on for it.
love the upgrades , but it's a damn cpu hog
I had to move my themes over, but I got an error message about map to siblings. Errrr...
Oh weird! Was it saying it wasn’t available?
The options file (options. txt) contains am unknown option 'EnableMapToSiblings' which will be ignored. No issues with Live 10 this morning.
@@treyhudson73 Oh weird, maybe it's something they've taken out there. I know the Option.txt file does work as I've put a display tweak in there myself. I don't think you need the 'EnableMapToSiblings' in there any more, it's now a standard option.
Spot on, man. I just deleted it. I really enjoy your content and about to check out your Captain Plugins video. I need to dive back into that thing.
Cant believe there is a thumbs down on this .. Show yourself and explain
It was Apple.

Yeah Kontrol is a nightmare, mind you most NI stuff is pretty processor intensive - Massive X is a beast

This should have been called: is Ableton 11 worth the upgrade price. Simple answer, no!
Maybe not for you but was for me!
