    Thank you, this is a great build series on how to build the Goosky RS4 , I found it very helpful. You did a great job pointing out the details. It made my build very easy and fun to do! Its been many months after you posted this video and there are a few things different now. Goosky has now included many of the suggests you gave as improvements. I am very impressed Goosky listen to its customers.

    Thank you, awesome video. I'm a beginner leaning towards novice and this is my first Heli build. I used the video to cross correlate the manual instructions. I was really pleased to see that Goosky has marked and separated all off the parts and screws really well, the server horns were also the correct length.

    That is a great build video. I like the overall design and the attention to detail touches. These are few nice features I noticed:
    1) The white solid head dampener has a boss on both sides; the longer boss retains the dampener O-ring and the shorter boss is a spacer that sits against the inner race of the blade grip radial bearing. Very nicely designed.
    2) The bolts holding the washout arms as "shouldered" style. These shouldered bolts are much better for this component of the assembly compared to fully threaded bolts.
    3) The swashplate pivot balls in the inner and outer races rotate on the same plane.
    4) The swashplate inner and outer races are fastened together using 4 bolts, rather than simply pressure swaging.
    5) The tail belt mechanism uses idler pulleys.
    6) The upper and lower main shaft radial bearings are encased in a one-piece bearing holder design which should keep the main shaft spinning as true as possible.
    7) I really like that the servo horn pivot balls threaded studs are long enough to accommodate nylon lock nuts, so no need for Loctite for this step.
    8) I like how the tail pulley is aluminum rather than plastic
    9) Awesome looking motor connectors
    10) Very nicely designed battery tray slider rail mechanism
    11) The battery tray shock absorbing rubber grommets are pure genius. This should be incorporated on larger helicopters as well.
    12) Both the right and left frames are the same part number
    I few improvement I would like to see:
    1) Replace the Philips head screws on the tail pulley with standard hex head blots.
    A few observations:
    1) You are using good quality hex drivers, but I noticed you are using needle nose pliers to fasten nuts. I believe dedicated nut drivers, even budget nut drivers may make the task of fastening nuts much easier.
    2) At around 24:20, you mentioned to tighten the bolt and nylon lock nut (securing the one-way bearing mechanism) pretty tightly. It is generally better to not over-tighten this particular part of the build (on any helicopter) in an attempt to keep the main shaft spinning true and orthogonal to the OWB mechanism. The same concept applies to the head block.

    Well.. I bit the bullet and ordered a RS4 on Saturday! After everyone saying how great it was and with the DD motor, I had to get one and add it to my fleet! I just built a 470L in November (Black Friday sale!) love that heli, it went together nicely and it flies great. Super excited for the RS4 to show up so I can get building. Thanks for all the great videos as always!

      The kit looks incredible! I am thoroughly impressed. Especially the fit and finish of the parts is extremely good. I think the price point is spot on, a few little things that I would like to see changed which I will go over at the last part of the build series. It does kind of suck that you are limited to a flat mounted servo and can’t use your own servo/regular servos but, the good thing both versions come with the Servos so it’s really not too big of a deal unless you break one and can’t get it lol

This Kit does seem like a good budget alternative to the RAW 420, looks like it a good quality kit. Hope you do a comparison to the RAW 420 since I'm thinking of getting the 420 next...

    About to build an RS4 after being out of the hobby a while. Having a total headache understandng how to bind my SPM9746 Carbon Satellite receiver! I stupidly bought an AR620 receiver thinking I could use that to bind the satellite not realising that it doesn’t support Sat receivers at all! So now I’m wondering how I’m going to do it? Had thought about buying a second hand AR6210 and connect the 9746 to that for binding. Will that work?? Had seen some people having issues binding the carbon sat with some receivers. Hopefully can get an answer here before my head explodes!

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  9 месяцев назад

      You can use any older spektrum receiver, to bind any satellite. So all the newer receivers are not DSMX satellite acceptable. I use a old AR6210 RX you can get them on eBay (they are clone and not real spektrum but work great for this) plug your satellite in and bind then unplug and plug into the FBL. I’ve never heard of issues with carbon satellites. I use them as well as regular. The only difference is the length of the antenna.

    West Hobbies RC. With your knowledge of RC heli's could you please reply with any help.
    I have a Goosky RS4. It was the Kit version. I have the Goosky RS4 flight controller but have the Goosky 60A ESC not the 70A that comes with the PNP Kit. I have a spektrum IX112 TX.
    The heli has a 6 or 7 second delay before it spools up. I calibrated the ESC endppoints and used heli gov store mode. If I increase the transmitter travel for throttle low end point to -32 , the delay is removed. Once I remove the battery and rehook, the heli wont spool up at all if the endpoint is left at -32. When I lower the low end point back to at least -100 then it spools up. Would you happen to have any idea whats causing this issue

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  6 месяцев назад

      The Goosky/Hobbywing 60 amp ESC? With Hobbywing the delay is from the governor setup. Have a delay is normal of about 4-6 seconds. Try a different governor mode on the ESC and see if that delay goes away. Or leave the travel alone and just increase the throttle trim slightly and see if that removes the delay.

    great vid but i gotta say, you would never want to put locktite onto your screw before putting it through a bearing, that locktite would most likely get into the bearing. You should've put the screw through the bearing first then add a bit of locktite on the thread after.

      I’ve built 1000s of heli, never had a issue. If you let the loctite run in the threads before sliding through a bearing it won’t be a problem. If you use to much loctite then yes it can get in the bearing.

      Yes, anything bigger than a 200 size helicopter you will have to build. Regardless of the company and manufacture. This is a 380 class model not a M2 or S2. A lot bigger.
