I remember the local convenience store sold yu-gi-oh boosters when I was 10, and then they started selling fake yu-gi-oh cards in the 50 cent trinket machine that also housed those shitty water applique tattoos and random foil stickers that those kind of machines always had. It was a toss-up whether you would get a sticker or a card in that one, basically. one day I went to the store to get a drink while I was out skating, put my change in the machine and it spit out a blue eyes. I was like ecstatic, It wasn't shiny, no foil, nothing. Just looked like the original artwork, but plain flat color, there was like no detailing in the colors on the front of the card unlike the official cards. it looked like shit, but i thought for sure it had to be real as it had the little holographic square in the bottom right corner that denotes real cards. Then I looked closer and realized that it didn't say "yu-gi-oh" on it like it normally does, no branding on the back, just plain. I was kind of crushed, but should have known better out of a 50 cent machine. I kept it though, since it made for a third blue eyes and in my small town no one ever cared/noticed that it wasn't real and I used it against my friends. Then my deck got taken away for trading in class. oops.
In all realitry though these are the best printed fake cards I've ever seen.

The colouring is a dead giveaway. Yugioh isn't as easy to tell fakes for as Pokémon because they're aren't very many obvious looking fakes like how fake Pokémon cards have the wrong name and 10,000 HP.

Hello there is am replying to this 5 years from when you posted this comment, the current value of this list has gone up to over $1,000 within 5 years! Gaia the fierce knight doesn't have a set value because it's so expensive now! I'd say the total value of what he pulled would be maybe $1,500 if these cards were not fake..... it's crazy to see how these cards were so cheap back then! I wish I could have gotten into yugioh waaaay sooner!

I have seen quite a few varieties of fake cards back then and these are by far the best fakes I've ever seen. I could tell the tint on the back was a little off, but other than that wow.

I bought 3x toon chaos booster boxes from Dave and Adam’s in October. They seems fine to me. This video is old so not sure if it was true back then.
Even back in LOB, the foil and normal rares were always found in the middle of the packs, never on the very top; I still remember finding an Ultra Rare Magic Jammer and a Secret Rare Tri-Horned Dragon (Unlimited Editions) in the middle of the packs they were in and that was back when Yugioh was just starting off outside of Japan, so if you find them on top of all the commons, warning sirens should be going off

I remember back when white stone of legend released I made a dragon exodia deck that needed tri horned dragon to fill allure of darkness, normal dragon, and trade in requirements. It's the only card that meets those req's so I traded way over its value to get them for a tournament. Still have them.
I as Someone from a spanish speaking nation I have never trusted a spanish box at all. And many kids bought these shitty cards back in the day.

If people couldn't tell by the last couple of packs just look at the Trap Hole. It looks like a crease in the card before it was printed on or just a stutter in the printer. Also some were miss cut on the outside border.
I remember one time at this fair me and my friend bought a bunch of starter decks only to realize later the cards were fake. We had original starter decks and compared them and figured maybe they were re-prints but damn they look exactly like these ones.

The Misprint Gaia, the weird cut borders and some of the descriptions have misspelled words or bad spacing. They are counterfeit, unfortunately.

This reminds me of a Gaia, the Dragon Champion secret rare I pulled out of this pack set. It has and english front and a Japanese stamp on the back (what usually says Yu-Gi-Oh is in japanese, not the entire backing). Considering I pulled it from a target card pack and all the card numberings match up I'd assume its real.
I had one of these fake boxes years ago, it was very difficult to tell the difference but something didn't seem right. I ended up sending a few of to the manufacturer and they confirmed it. I never found out if they went after the buyer who sold them to me.

Listen to what he says at the start. Those packs are English printed packs but they came shipped in a Spanish box which they weren't originally shipped in, it was only used as a container.

This reminds me that in 2003 i bought a Pegasus Starter Deck, knowing that it was fake (i already owned 2 real ones), the cards were exactly as these ones, I tried to use them in a Tournament and they never noticed, but i lose on purpose I didn't want to win a single match with that fake deck (besides, it probably would have been imposible to win with just a Starter Deck), in the end i gave it as a present to a friend that could't aford most of the original cards and often played with fakes that really looked fake, of course i told her that they were fake.
By now I still hold a single fake card, it is a Monster Reborn Magic card with wind atribute (lol) from a fake Starter Deck Yugi.

It's real. I seen the Spanish booster packs at Wal Mart a long time ago as well as the English Edition packs. If I had known that the cards were still in English I would have bought them.
