Players need a thick skin. I have always had three rules on heckling. First, never get racial. Second-never go after their family. Third-never cuss. Anything else is fair game. Guy get busted for drugs? Tell him to keep his nose off the third base line. Guy is in a shooting slump? Tell him you are tracking his slump and am betting the under on the number of shots he will miss because he looks like a mason, not a shooter. And if it gets them riled up, you have done your job as a fan. You have distracted them from concentrating on the game. They may say that you are "disrespecting" them. That may be true, but pay me millions of dollars to be "disrespected" and I will ignore you. Which is the way the pros handle it.
It's like customers when they come to the stores disrespecting the workers.
This is why people who also talk trash online are clowns too. They're the same ones who would go "cmon we need you" and "i just wanted a frosty" if they ever get approached about their comments lmao
