Her voice is very soothing period, so when I say "I watch your videos to sleep" it's literally older videos and not the newer (also! that's not meant to be rude...sometimes I just need soothing~!) and it doesn't just stop at Katie, it literally is all of her family. they all have kind sounding voices and I enjoy when they get goofy in vids together. :3

I am so sorry that there are people in your home area who are so insecure about themselves that they feel the need to take that out on others, but I am proud of you for continuing to be your authentic self! You are an amazing human bean and I hope you have an incredible summer ^_^

If someone is not into your style, that's on them. They can move on. At the end of the day, YOU are the important one. The one that needs to be happy. Keep on being you. Last year, at age 47, I finally got to see the Grand Prismatic Spring in person. I've wanted to see it since the 5th grade(there was a pic of it in my social studies book) and after we looked at it for about 15 min, I realized I was in a dream come true moment and stood there for 5 more minutes with tears streaming down my face! I was so happy and my heart was overflowing. I'm so glad, Katie, that you got to experience that feeling in your trip!!! Keep traveling! Keep exploring and keep experiencing! There is so much to see on this one planet that we have. To everyone in the Royal Court.... get in your car and go!! Live your only life to the fullest...squeeze it til it pops! 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Katieeee, I have a friend that lives in Texas that goes to anime conventions and one of her favorite characters she likes Is "Rogue" from the x-man franchise...there was a version of Rogue that she wasn't sure if she was going to be able to pull it off because she is a heavy set girl, and I told her that I knew she could do it, and she did.
I feel like in some places, being heavy set is like... a "sin" or something "dirty" to look down on. I think that's part of the reason I struggle so much with it, and at the same time...just don't care. I've been dealing with a lot of stuff lately (birthday month was a mess @_@ ) However, for the last three months, I have been in physical therapy (and strength training) and I'm starting to slowly take better care of myself...and it seems to have open me up a bit to go back to work on my novel stuff. I think the better we treat ourselves, the better our brains work...but that's just me :3
anywayyyyyyys! I gotta get back to doing work related stuff, but I'm so happy you continue to make videos and soap and I'm truly honored to watch each video (even if I don't always leave a comment!) -Kirby

You sound so happy and energized! I really enjoy your chatty videos. I crochet and let it wash over me and it’s just so cozy and pleasant.
When my son was little, we lived in a close-in suburb of a major city. I experienced exactly the same high-school type cliquishness and mean girl judging you described. I’d also gained weight during my pregnancy and I found mom groups to be so catty and condescending. And you nailed the age range. It got a little better in my late 30s / early 40s.
I’m in my 50s now, and I don’t see any of that. It’s probably because I don’t notice it, rather than it not happening. My give-a-crap broke before COVID, but the last few years have pretty much annihilated it. It wasn’t intentional, but I’m definitely not mad at it. I was such a people pleaser my whole life, and that really started to change when I was 45-46.
This summer, I’m working on my house. Decluttering, cleaning and decorating. I’m planning on buying myself a sewing machine, so one of my main goals is to make room in the Crafting Cave for a dedicated sewing and cutting space. I used to sew, but haven’t owned a machine in about 25 years, so I’m pretty excited!

Katie's beautiful soap. I have been watching you for a few years now but never comment.
But with your experience in Hawaii I agree with you 1000000000%. I am from the caribbean island of St. Vincent and that's how we are back home. Very open and welcoming. The fruits and food are life like no other, everything tastes way better than what we get here because of all the chemicals on them. The meats taste way better also because they eat fresh green grass and fruits and other foods, plus the fishes are salt water fishes which taste way better also. So by me hearing you talk about it i was shaking my head in agreement and smiling. Lol
Then I literally started to feel home sick because I have been living here in Canada for 30 years now and I miss home like crazy. My last trip home was in 2013 for 9 weeks, I didn't want to come back to Canada. Lol. Because I compare everything here too back home. Especially when we go grocery shopping and the price for fruits. I just look at them and feel sad because we grew all the fruits in our backyard. We just wake up and choose which fruit we feel like eating once in season. But that's life sometimes we have to give up a little for something else. But I was on amazon looking at tropical fruit trees the dwarf sizes to plant in pots here and put in the green house in winter, because I saw a homesteader on yt doing that and they have winter too, I got so excited seeing that and got some hopes. So now i am buying dwarf fruit trees like back home to grow here. So I feel very excited and relieved now. No more toxic fruits for us. 💃 💃 😂😂😂.
But I am happy y'all enjoyed the trip.

As a Katie from a small town in northern Texas who was overweight most of her life and entire childhood, I can confirm, this woman speaks truth. I left Texas and have only returned to help my parents move and visit my grandmother. Just being back in Texas for those few days was enough to trigger a major relapse in my depression. Could not get out of there fast enough. Not to say there are not lovely people there, because there are many. It's just that the few who are not are louder and drown out the good sometimes. I have made it my mission to be better and do better and share love and kindness. This world is rough, no need to make it harder on anyone.

I don't know how Texas is, as I've only traveled through, but here in Bakersfield, and the places I've been in CA, Sacramento ➡️ L.A., is if you're kind, you'll receive kindness in return. I have lived in Bakersfield most of my life, but has 3 years in LV and 9 in Sac, and although you encounter rudeness, i hear that the East Coast is worse, lol!

The weather in the UK is not as wet anymore. I live in Belgium and we just to have the same kind of weather like in the UK. But ours has changed also. Yesterday we already had 27° C (= 81°F) What should have been 22° (71° F) for the time of year. And no rain in weeks... Last summer we had big heat weaves with 100°F 😱

I'm sorry that you don't have as much positivity between girls where you live. I think you're a beautiful person inside and out. The first time I watched one of your videos I was excited to see someone who was both super pretty and super relatable just chatting while making your soap. Keep being you, because there are lots of people who appreciate you for the amazing person you are.

I can relate Katie, to the things that you loved during your holiday/visit.
I have always felt like a collectivist living in an individualistic country.
Whenever I have any opportunity to connect with people around me, in my local area, anywhere, it always absolutely makes my day and fills me up with joy inside.
I make an effort to compliment people, and not just asking where they got their shoes or whatever. Just letting someone know that they look nice today, well done 👍🏽.
Yup, I can really relate to what you said.
Take care and have a good day/evening.
    🙂🐿🌈❤️

Welcome to Sweden! I'm born and raised in Stockholm (the capital). It would be great to have you here. Have you read any of the children's books by Astrid Lindgren? Like Pippi Longstocking? Swedish author, I live at the same street as she did when she was alive. Hawaii seems awesome. Very far to travel from Sweden though.

I've been a big girl in Texas basically all of my life, and I typically didn't have many "girlfriends." Quality over quantity, you know - and most of them were bigger as well. Women can be MEAN here.

Aw Katie, I live in Texas but much further south; about 45 mins from Galveston. And girls treat each other so different here. Especially as adults, I as a plus size woman have never had another woman treat me so nasty. I’m so sorry that you don’t have more girl love up there in the north. You of all people deserve it!! I would just love to bump into you one day and maybe even be able to give you a hug!! Love you so much, girl!

I've lived near Dallas, Texas before, I understand that perspective. It, to me, seems to be a very competitive space. As the youngest of 5, who was just happy to get a controller because games were only 4 player, I am NOT competitive. They have schools so the kids can learn gymnastics while being in school. Like, the school is formatted so they will become Olympians. I can see how that mentality could stick, someone fails, you get to raise. That's not how real life works (lucky for me at least). If I start to get stuck on a project, I have to tell my boss, so he can help me.
ALSO, I was raised with the mentality of always say yes, always be helpful. My boss is having to re-train me, I now must always say no. We can't do that. Then, if they plead their case, it could get upgraded to a maybe. I work in an unstaffed department, so we can't please everyone, we must be very selective with our time. He is always checking to make sure we aren't overworking ourselves. It's just 3 of us, serving a company of about 800.

Glad you had a great trip! People in Colorado are super kind! We met some really nice people there. The mountains are gorgeous too. We also visited Foley, Alabama. People there are really sweet (they are honkers), but outside of their cars, they are kind.
Our hometown in Kentucky is great. People in the bigger cities like Louisville and Elizabethtown can be a little rude-ISH (not offense to anyone from there!) Hodgenville has some of the kindest people I’ve ever met.

About the speed limit thing. When my Mom lived in Texas I was surprised to see the speed limit was 60 and 70. I’m like huhh … and this isn’t the highway. This is a normal road( granted it’s a long road). I’d be doing 70- 75 and someone comes zooming past me. Like , what😮. I’m with you on the speed limit thing Katie.

I’ve traveled a lot, and Texas (where I currently live) is the worst. I’ve actually had a woman yell at me and storm out of a party because someone told her I voted for Obama over a decade ago. People are so closed minded that I really only socialize with my sister’s family at this point.
I’ve never been to Hawaii, but it sounds like a pretty unique place. Even countries that I absolutely love, and love the people, can be quite harsh/blunt about things like body size. For example some places in Europe and Hong Kong/China.
I previously warned you against rural France, unless you are fluent, but I think you and Caleb would both love mountainous Switzerland (Interlaken was my favorite but every city was great). Canadians are crazy nice, and have some coastline for you in summer (and mountains for Caleb). The Dutch were very welcoming and a bartender even gave us free drinks when we visited on 9/11 and he heard our accents. Everyone should see Anne Frank’s house in Amsterdam.
You should probably work up to it as it is s bit rustic, but the tiny island of Boracay in the Philippines was an incredible experience. I didn’t put shoes on all week. I didn’t speak the language but everyone was so eager to help us that we didn’t have trouble even when our Filipino friend wasn’t there. There are no cars and the restaurants/shops/hotels/atm are all built into the sand. I’m pretty sure that those tropical screensavers and calendar images were all taken there, it is so indescribably beautiful. You just plop yourself on the sand and you can eat and drink all day, or explore other islands. Fresh mango fruit shakes to die for.
I do have a theory that Southern/Coastal/Tropical/Warmer cities have more relaxed/tolerant/friendly people. Perhaps that is why you are a beach bum. People in land locked parts of France were truly awful to me, but I made many great friends who came from the coastal regions. When meeting a guy from North Italy I was told “the only worse thing than being American, is being an American woman”. The people from the Southern half of Italy were fantastic though!

🤍⛅️💛💖 Hi Katie 🤚 We got Married
in Hanalei Bay , Kauii . I really like the Islands too. Didnt like the Ocean smelling like Suntan lotion in Wakiki though. Fyiing never take the other' Road on Maui ! They say not to , renting a Car. Its so dangerous , and once on It , You basically cant turn back , a tiny dirt road , one lane , very high cliffs to the Sea , and no barriers on the side to keep the Car from falling . Keos Thai restaurant in Wakiki is really good one , I still think about for Years. The Coconut soap is Good there too . The Soap turned out really Nice and Hawaiian looking : ) 🤍🩷

I lived in Las Vegas in the early 2000's. I was by no means large, I wore a size 10 or so in pants. I was shamed in so many ways, from people being mean to being denied entry into clubs. I now live in New Braunfels Texas. When I first moved here I was told I didn't get a job, I'm a certified mixologist, because I wasn't Blonde with big boobs. It's different now here. I never feel self conscious even at the river or lake. It's like a different world. My cousin is in Sunnyvale and has the same problems you do.

I've been to Hawai'i twice, and last time was the best! We stayed in Kihei and got shave ice every day from a family who'd relocated from the same area where my sister lived at the time, so they hit it off. The family made their own juices from their own produce. My niece found a ton of her mom's favorite flower everywhere: hi-BITH-cuth (because she was 3-4 at the time and SO CUTE!). We got honked at once by a guy we later passed after he'd been pulled over, but it was on the back-end of the Hana Highway, and you do not want to speed there

Come visit the Midwest, Katie. The vibe you describe in Hawaii, as far as smiling at strangers and lack of judging looks, exists up here, generally speaking. From what I hear, the East coast is probably the strongest for not-so-friendly to strangers vibe, but that's second hand so don't take my word on that.
