Hi! How long did the entire process take you, from the time you started looking for a family to when you left for France? How soon would you recommend starting to look for a family before you want to leave? Like if I started looking now, how soon do you think I would reasonably be able to leave? Thanks!
Hi! I started looking for my family around March or April, looking now is cutting it a bit close as the school year starts in the end of August / beginning of September so it doesn’t give you much time to get your visa. But if you’re really determined you could start to look now and you might get lucky and get your family decided and your visa back to you quickly enough to start in September!
@@WhereTianaTravels Thank you so much! I just graduated from college in June and I hadn't thought about becoming an au pair until like last week lol and after watching your video I realize there's a lot that needs to be done to prepare and I don't want to rush into it, but I'll definitely be ready for next year!
Hey Tiana! Thanks for the video, super informative. In terms of “proof of funds”, does the money have to have been in the account for a certain period of time? Thanks in advance!!
Thanks Jonathan! No, there’s no specific period of time that I know of! They just want to make sure you either have enough saved or have a recurring amount coming in each month that is at least €600/month or so 😌
Hi Tiana! Loved rhe video very informative. Can I ask how did you make a motivation letter? I don't know where to start I don't speak french at all. I'm scared I just got an offer to be an Au pair in france.
I just looked up a sample one and made a similar one! It's nothing too serious, just a paragraph or two about why you want to come to France and how you'll contribute to the country/culture while you're there
Hi I do freelancing and one of my client who is looking for au pair. Family speak English very well. Please reply if you interested so we can talk more.
Hi! Did you have to get your Au Pair contract validated? The web says la directe no longer does it since 2019 but is it still done somewhere else or does the consulate not require it to be validated anymore?
Yes, I did have to have my contract validated! but that was back in 2019 so i’m not sure if it’s still required. I’d check the france government website to double check the visa requirements!

Hey girl! Great video! Question, now the visa app requires an online application before you can schedule an appt with the consulate in DC (where I live). On the app, I have to have an EEF# which is related to the French course that I have to register for as a part of the visa. Did you have to do this?? Just trying to cover all my bases. Thanks!
Thanks for watching! I did not have to add an EEF# to my visa application, they may have changed it since I applied in 2019. Is it possible to apply without it? As long as you can bring a printed confirmation showing that you signed up for French courses by the time you have your face to face appointment, you should be ok! Hope this helps!
Hi! Thank you for your valuable information. I would like to ask you. Is it acceptable to be hired as an aupair by a family which are of your siblings, for example, your brother's family? And is language tests like TCF required to be passed by the aupair?
I'm currently in the process of applying for a visa and already had my appointment but I got an email from the consulate in DC saying I need a nursery certificate even though there was no mention of this on the website or at my appointment when all my documents were submitted. I've tried calling everywhere I can find online and not even the visa office knows anything about this. I'm so desperate for an answer, you wouldn't happen to know anything would you?
Hi Naomi! I'm sorry, I don't really have a good answer for that :/ I've never heard of anyone needing any kind of nursery certificate to become an au pair here. It could be a new requirement that they implemented after I went through the process but i'm not sure. Definitely get in contact with your host family and ask them, they should have more information on the regulations/requirements for au pairs! Best of luck
Good question! Au pairs in France aren't required to pay taxes here as technically the money we get is just "pocket money" and not a real salary. If I remember correctly I did have to declare my pocket money on my US taxes as "income made overseas" but as it's so low i don't think I was even taxed on it. Hope that helps!
Hi! It's not a hard requirement and it doesn't have to be exactly €3000 but they do want to see that you have at least some money saved up to support yourself while in France. I would recommend having at least $1500 saved but more is better
Hello tiana I am in the process of getting my visa and I have some questions about the physical health clearance. Did you get your doctor to sign a form from au pair world or did you have your doctor write that you were cleared to go to France ? Thank you

Yes, I was able to change from an aupair visa to a student visa. I'm not sure if you can do it after it's expired though, you can send an email to your local prefecture and ask!

Love the video, just wanted to know, do I have to get vaccinated before flying out?
Hey Thabii!
No vaccines required, you’ll just need a negative PCR test done within 72 hours of arrival 🙂
