Thanks Joy. Yours is by far the best and least confusing video on getting the France Visa. You clarified the questions of having an address/funds etc. Now I can move forward with my app. I'm in France now exploring and have decided that I WILL be living here. I'll start the process as soon as I get back to the states. I love France
Hey, thank you so much for this info. I have a few questions that maybe you have the answers to. 1.) How far in advance so you need to apply for these visas? 2.) What if you are not in the US? I am a digital nomad and I’m currently between France and Egypt and have no plans to re-enter the US for a long while.
thank you for this waiting! my appointment is coming up so i loved hearing your take. question though! does washington dc keep all the documents you send them from the VFS office or do they send every document back to you along with your passport after they have made their decision?
Hi Joy thank you so much for this video, congratulations on your residency! I was wondering if you knew about applying once you've arrived in France, rather than your home country, I'm Canadian but in Indonesia so I would think applying when I arrive would be best if possible. Look forward to your next videos!
Thank you! I don’t think you can apply for a visa for the first time when you’re in France I believe you need to go back to your home country but I’m not 100% sure as for residency I did that on arrival
Thank you for this information. Does everyone in the US have to go to NYC to do the interview? I thought there were embassies or consulates around the country. Has this part of the process changed?
I don’t think it’s that they don’t view “content creator” as being a real job, as much as it may be that content creators aren’t being viewed as people who will bring much needed and valuable skills, like teachers doctors, researchers, or people being recruited by a company, all of whom typically fit the definition of highly skilled, and highly educated. Pertaining to “artists”, I think they’re talking about performing artists (actors, musicians, dancers, etc.). That’s my understanding of what is meant by “talent”, as it pertains to visas. Glad you were able to get a visa, anyway.
But content creators generate money for themselves through their clients which in a way is freelance work so people who are self employed. I’m not necessarily expecting to book French companies as clients with the visa.
It’s not about the money you’re making to support yourself. It’s about the education and skills you’re bringing with you, and how they will be of benefit to the country you’re going to.
From the time you receive your visa, you have 3mos to get ic finalized in France? Soclock is ticking upon receipt of visa? 90 days of housing is sufficient?
Hello Joy, I found your email on TikTok and was hoping we could talk over there more about this process of the visa. please and thank you. I love this video a lot because it helped me
@@joymae Thanks for the response! I’ll be applying for long stay visa, then converting to spousal visa after marriage there 🤞🏼 I feel like there aren’t as many sources on immigrating as I expected.
Thanks for the information. Did you have any trouble getting an appointment at VFS? I've been trying for a week and I only get the "no slots available" message.
I did not but have heard it gets competitive. I would recommend looking to book at the start of each month because I hear that’s when you have the best bet
@@joymae Thank you so much! One more question, did you notarize any of your documents? I see a few people mention this, but the france-visa site doesn't.
I posted a ton of videos on my Instagram and Tiktok about it. I made a RUclips about it too do you not see it in the library? If not I may have removed it or set it on private idk lemme know i can check later
As someone who is a sophomore in college, planning on graduating a semester early (December of senior year) and looking to spend 6 months traveling and working in France before coming back and going to law school how is this possible? It looks like there are no US work visas other than ones for those with high experience and high skill
Congratulations on making it to France, Joy! Can the long stay visitor visa be extended for 5 years, and if so, can one acquire permanent residency? I have read that for PR they would check if the person paid tax including social security contributions, etc. I would love to keep working remotely for my US employer while in France but I'm not sure this is allowed since my company has no EU presence.
Good day. Doubts about the long-term visa to study in France 🇫🇷: The "Statements" or "Savings account" of the financial guarantor 💳🧾. Is it necessary that the amount in these be equal to the amount of the entire period of study in France? As an example: they ask for 615 euros for 6 months equal to 3,690 euros 💶. In my case I can meet 4 months. Please and thank you.
The financials for a student are different than that of the long term tourist visa. You just need to pass the exam and place into a French institution. On top of that pay for your student tuition

Super helpful. Thanks! Oh and your hair is amazing!
So happy to hear and thank you so much!!!
Very Interesting video. I man who lived in New York once told me that they only other city he'd rather live then New York would be Paris.
They’re very similar in ways but very different
I agree….I’m 72 been here 22 months
Thanks Joy, you were straight to the point. Smart
My pleasure
@@joymae My french family has been in Canada for 400yrs. Too bad I cant use my ancestry.
Omg the house music playing mid video..did not mean to have it there I’m so sorry lol
Congrats on your visa! You’re living your best life 🥳
Thank you!! 😊

Hmmm I only had my passport in the envelope now that I think about it. Good luck!!!
They keep all paperwork and only return your passport and what type of passport it is.

You don't have to go to NYC, there are 10 French consulates in the US.
I've read that travel insurance won't work. And airbnb reservations won't work either. A one year rental rental agreement is required
interesting, thanks for sharing, can you renew this visa? or eventually become a permanent resident?
Yes you can! You can also apply for a residency on arrival which I did. And after I believe 8-10 years you can apply for citizenship

Hi Joy
For the flight do I need to submit with the online application or bring it with me at the visa appointment ?
Submit ticket with your application
Hi! did you purchase your own pre-paid envelope or did you buy it from the vfs center in NYC
From the time you receive your visa, you have 3mos to get ic finalized in France? Soclock is ticking upon receipt of visa? 90 days of housing is sufficient?
It’s 90 days on arrival in France
that long stay tourist visa is only good for a year. have you done a follow up video?
Hello Joy, I found your email on TikTok and was hoping we could talk over there more about this process of the visa. please and thank you. I love this video a lot because it helped me
My name is Joi and I’m from San Diego too!!!
Wait why’s your username Ciara then lol
It’s my middle name lol. It’s Joi Ciara.
I'm wondering how this process works if I'm currently in the UK...? I live in the Uk as an American and want to move to France.
Probably a lot easier but unsure with Brexit
Did you need to translate any of your docs to french or was everything okay in English?
No English is fine

Just your passport

So this is for a short term visa? For a long stay visa, they have different requirements.
As someone who is a sophomore in college, planning on graduating a semester early (December of senior year) and looking to spend 6 months traveling and working in France before coming back and going to law school how is this possible? Easy Marry Joy Mae
Haha that doesn’t work I’m not a citizen! It takes 10 years
They have been there for years and still do not have the work sponsored visa?! 😵Haberdashery!
jesus i have to go all the way to LA for a visa😂
Yeah it’s usually the nearest metro

Thank you I’m not sure I would seek a professional or lawyer who can properly guide you!
Please look up the bilateral agreements.. you can actually stay in the Schegan region for 180 days. And the UK for 180.
Not true for US citizens!
Do you have to book a round trip plane tickets?
No you dont
