    Wow, far cry from my old Schweitzer 2-22 and 1-26's. Never flew a Glaßflügel though! How sweet is this: no aero-tow to 1500 or 2000 and pulling the red ball to disconnect upper right with the tow performing a split-S downward left! Ausgezeichnet.....wenn ich nur dort wäre! Ich hab' alles genoßen...Vielen Dank!

    I think the future of flight is solar powered gliders with small electric engines for take-off

    • @davecrupel2817

      Its a modern airframe. Lots of parasitic drag eliminated. Lots of smoothening and streamlining the fuselage and wings. Modern ammenities. Modern fuel efficiency.
      Unlike the 40, 50, 70 year old designs we're used to seeing. Cubs, cessnas, mooneys and the like.
      What you speak of should have been the present *decades* ago. Not the future now. :(

    Why does the sound cut off for footage inside the aircraft? there should be engine noise at start, and then wind noise, at least

    today existing electric powered gliders perfectly capable of taking off without need for towing, why a polluting engine? so it means a plane more than a glider

    • @BEaton-kf7ej
      @BEaton-kf7ej 4 года назад +4

      Electric powered sailplanes provide thrust for about 15min. A Stemme can run its Rotax engine all day, if you really needed it. So, it doesn't just get you in the air, it's there in case the weather turns, and you never have to land out. The glide ratio is 50:1...legit performance for a modern sailplane.
