@@JayB-lz6yd That information is incorrect. CITES restrictions were lifted from the Rosewoods. Bubinga is no longer restricted. Tama is making the SLP G-Bubinga snare once again so that should be a clue as to how regulated Bubinga is.
So happy with my purchase of my star bubinga kit from you folks. The best big purchase of my drum career. Every drum including the snare sounds amazing. My first Tama kit. All my others have been Ludwigs. I play reggae, classic rock, metal, and the kit works for all. Expensive and worth every penny.
Gawd!! they sound so beefy!! I get the warm fuzzies listening to them. I'd trade my current three kits for this one, if i could!! They really do sound like a "...perfectly tuned kit."
Love the video...👌🏾 The drumkit sounds awesome! Just bought a Starclassic Walnut Birch and a 14" x 8" Star Walnut snaredrum. These drums are the Best! TAMA🔥🔥🔥🔥
Typically, I don't like bubinga drums....and hated the Starclassic version of these. They always seemed WAY too dry. But, these not only have a beautiful resonance, but it's one of the few kits that sound amazing tuned higher, which is almost impossible on other kits (and still sound good), yet opens up all kinds of playing options for the drummer. Tama's star line is absolutely crushing it. Very well done!
Wow do those drums sound great! I've never been a big fan of Tama drums but the sound of this kit was simply amazing! I think the drum sizes are perfect. Although it's not a finish I would pick it was still visually very stunning.
Best sounding and looking kit in the entire god damn worldddddd omg. Everything about this kit is perfect. I just wish Tama star drums had the option of having the bass drum mount on the bass drum. I personally hate having my toms mounted on cymbal stands and love the new starclassic bass drum mounting systems and wish they had that option. They are so damn comfortable and convenient on my starclassic bb’s and you can position them any which way you can dream of. They do it custom for some artists like Simon Phillips on their star kits but haven’t seen them for sale with a bass drum mount.

If the Tama Star bubinga/bubinga drum shells are no longer available do to the CITES treaties, why does Tama still advertise them on there current website and as being available? I was told by my five star rep. that the individual bubinga drum order dead line was the end of 2019. Even looks like current Tama websit 11/24/2020 is offering a Limited Edition STAR Bubinga Blackwood Kit. Just wondering what the jive is all about? Thank you Drum Center of Portsmouth for all you do.
Those are gorgeous drums and sound fabulous..I've never owned a Tama set (yet) but I've had the privilege of playing a couple and I really liked them. I wish I could add one of these red viking kits to my collection...
Guys I love your content. PLEASE do a comparasion video with the PDP Concept, DW Design, DW Performance and DW Collectors like the one you did with YAMAHA drums. PLEASE!!!
The look on his face at the 1 minute mark when he hits the floor toms hahahaha. His eyes go up like damnnnnnnn these are some beefy low thunderous beautiful floor Toms.
Beautiful kit!! Not in my price range, but I'm sure they'll find a good home...Love some TAMA Drums! So two things I have to ask: What's up with Yamaha cymbal stands on this shoot? And, the round bases for the mic stands are noticeably dusty!! Pristine kit and mic stands been sittin in the garage for 3 months, lol! JK guys.... Y'all are great and I love your demos and comparisons! Really, Yamaha stands on a TAMA Demo????
I use Tama Starclassic B/B kit and Warlord Masai snare! I would like to set up a very clear sound, but I do not have special tuners. How to achieve professional sound without a tuner?
Shane is a solid hitter and it sounds like the snare is Slamming! This is an amazing Rock kit, but I don't hear a very versatile sound for other styles, then again Tama have long mastered the great Rock sounding kits. The snare is killer for sure and I like the bassdrum because it impacts and then gets out if the way, a lot of hard hitting jazz/big band masters used that size back in the old days and Bonham took that inspiration to redefine bass drum for rock. I think he would love this!
I have Starclassic BB and I can tell you that is not Rock or Metal sounding kit. It is more for Fusion or Pop. When you hit It light, it sings very well. So musically and melodic. Pearl drums are more for Rock/Metal.
Love these! I want a set. No matter who played them in this video it had so much thump! Funny it's called red viking because I could have sworn bonham was playing these sons of bitches. Hammer of the gods! Drive our ships to new land!
I love the sound of Bubinga drums. My problem is I want to buy the star Bubinga but I play heavy metal and the star classic Bubinga would be perfect with the thicker shells. They don’t make the star classic Bubinga anymore tho and I am worried about the star bubinga thin shell not projecting enough! I guess my question would be would the star Bubinga be a good choice for heavy metal and will they project enough?
Have to admit that I am not into sound rings but on the bubinga kit the sound is honestly perfect. I cannot even imagine how you improve the sound. Even though I do not normally go with these size, the sound is perfect. The shells look incredible. The color is perfect. Is there a downside? As stated these might be the most perfect drums in the world and maybe more than ever. I can say for certain that the sound and appearance are so perfect together that there is not ever been a more perfect combination ever made. How do you improve upon it? I really thought they would cost a lot more but in some ways they are a steal. Even though I do not have the money laying around to buy them.
Mike Emmendorfer With shells so thin rings are a good idea especially on the 14” and larger shells. I had 4mm Maple shells without re-rings and I always wanted them on the larger drums.
I'm sure others have asked this before, but what is the drum track that plays under the intro? I just realized I've been watching these videos for years but never bothered to find out. Also, that kit sounds ridiculously thick.
It’s Shane’s drum track to a song from his old band. He talks about it briefly in a Dunnett Stainless Steel snare review where he mentions that’s the snare he used in that track.
Gorgeous to look at, and I like the kick drum and floor toms, but the upper toms not as much. To compare, I just watched the Pearl Maple/Gum Kit video demo again you recently posted and that is still the winner for the perfect drum sound to me. Pearl could easily do a similar finish in the Masterworks Studio recipe if I had to have a kit that looks like this Tama. I guess I’m just not as much into the Bubinga drum sound.
I would prefer a deeper bass drum. Deeper rack toms would be nice too. A 5x14 or a 51/2x14 would be nice but all those things are being picky on my part. Yes I would like a set but I Don't think it's fair to those of us who do not have 7 or 8 grand laying around. To be so limited ain't right. Most of us have to save up a lot to buy one and that does not happen overnight. Maybe offer some special financing, that would help.
@@Assimilator702 Sorry. 5 1/2 x 14 is my favorite snare drum size not tom size. I should have said the only small tom I would like is a 8 inch. But again this would be picky. Perfect kick as is.
@@methor1970 I figured you might have been referring to the snare size. It was a joke based on what you said. Also considering the fact that Star kits are shell packs with no snare. My favorite size has always been 14 x 6.5 but after owning every size more recently I can appreciate the merit of each size. I would choose a 14 x 5.5 over a piccollo size any day. Certain snares that I wanted happened to be 14" x 5.5" like the SLP Dynamic Bronze and the Starclassic Copper which DOES NOT react like a 5.5" deep wood snare.
Martin Metz Well the entire point of owning this kit is because you like the finish. They’re the same price as the regular Star Bubinga drums. It’s just that the finish is limited with that stunning Karelian Birch outer ply.
The Tama Star bass drum is absolutely my fav kick of all time.
With a kit like this every time you sit down to play it would make all your old chops new again. Truly stunning.
The toms in higher tuning reminds me on Simon Phillips! Absolutely gorgeous 👍👌
Love my STAR Bubinga kit. So blessed to have one.
