A few years ago I started dating a guy and things got serious quickly. I ended up moving in a rented 2 family home with him. I had the habit of staring and talking to myself in the mirror since age 7 until I would see visions in the mirror. I have taken pictures and seen a spirit of a man in the background etc. So many things that I wasn't able to speak to my mother about because she would turn it into being crazy . So I really valued her friendship and respected her above all. My partner at the time was the only one working so I would stay home from the hours of 2pm-10pm alone. The "friend" worked at the same factory my partner worked at and coincidentally at the same time. So both would leave together. Her husband didn't have a job at the time so he was also at home alone during the same hours as me. I never would go to her home when she wasn't there just out of respect for her and my partner because things could of had easily been misunderstood. Within 3 months being there I find out I'm 4 months pregnant and I share the news with her. A couple days later she comes to my apartment and gives me a little bottle that contains a powder. She told me that before I have intimacy with my partner to put the powder in my vagina and not to tell him about it. She goes on to explain that he won't ever leave me or ever be able to have sex with anyone else after that. Out of respect I tell her leave it on the table and thank you. Mind you I never mentioned to her that I ever needed that or wanted to bind him to me.I never touched the bottle.I felt a little off so when my partner and I were alone in confidence I tell him that she gave me that. So he throws it away in the garbage and I go on to tell him not to mention anything because I don't understand her intensions. Of course he didn't listen and the very next day he mentioned it to her and she was very upset. Time goes by and I see her change alot with me. Eventually I have my child and 3 months in I start feeling very much not myself. Every single day I have the same dream and wake up at the same time feeling hot and anxious. There were times that I would forget how and when I fell asleep. I would open my eyes in the morning and it would take me about 1 or 2 min to realize who I am. I wouldn't recognize my partner or my daughter at all when I would wake up in the AM. It would take 1 or 2 min from waking up for me to realize who they were. I would also wake up trembling and feeling as if I was still dreaming and everything around me wasn't real. The same dream everyday consist of me crawling on the floor in pure darkness inside of a box trying to prevent a panther from biting me. Then I started feeling suicidal and all I had were negative thoughts in my mind. It was a daily battle. I finally had visited my parents and couldn't hold it in anymore and told my mom about it and of course she didn't pay no mind and threw it off to be postpartum but deep down I new it was something more.She thought I was going crazy and needed to be in a hospital. Thankfully I had also told my father and grandfather and they immediately took me to a Botanica in which whom the owners practice the 21 divisiones. I am half Dominican from father side and half Puertorican from mother side. When I'm in the Botanica I feel very upset I want to leave. While I'm getting my cards read I feel something taking over my body. I felt as if I was growing a tail and I had uncontrollable facial spasms. My body felt heavy at the same time I felt as if I was chained up. In one moment I remember cursing and laughing then all of a sudden I felt very dizzy and a peaceful presence that takes over me completely. All I remember after that was that I felt my wrist move in a motion that I never experienced and started dancing. When I came back to myself I felt genuinely clean mentally like I had no negative thoughts at all. I felt lighter. My deep breaths were satisfying. It's so hard to explain but all I can say is that I felt peaceful and as if no one could mess with me. So the man who was doing me the consultation tells me that the Loa who just entered my body was Anaisa and that my supposly "friend" was doing me the brujeria because she thought I wanted her husband. I was lost for words when I realized that she was the one putting me through all of that. He ask me if I wanted to return back what she has done to me and I replied NO. He gives me baths and instructions to take home so that I can finish cleansing myself. Immediately I am myself again. I felt alive ,happy full of joy. Being under a brujeria was the most disgusting experience that I ever went through in my life that I honestly couldn't do it back to her even though she deserved it. I wouldn't wish it literally on my worst enemy. At the time she had a child that was 6 years old and I grew close to the little girl and felt if I would harm her mother it would be as if I would be harming her. When I was under that brujeria I had no connection with my newborn child. I didn't feel love for her ,for myself or for anyone to be honest. I felt empty. I would feed her ,bathe her and change her diapers because I new it was morally correct. I new I had to do it. But the mental space that I was in kept me feeling empty. That hurt me so much to know that she didn't care if I could of harmed my daughter. I honestly know that God and the Loa were by my side giving me strength everyday to care for my baby because they were times that I would be sitting down and she would be in her crib and I would tell myself that it's all fake I'm stuck in a dream nothing that I'm living is real. I don't even know how to explain the pain I mentally went through. I love my daughter and will protect her always. Thankfully as soon as I seeked help my emotions came back in tune. I eventually never returned back to that apartment or to that partner. I simply lied to him and told him that our daughter wasn't his and that I couldn't be with him anymore. I moved and changed my phone number. I do not have any social media.I may have done wrong by lying to him but I don't think he was going to stop communicating with his cousin and his cousin wife is the one who did all that harm to me so I just didn't want anything to do with them anymore or wanted them to know anything about me. I wanted to close that chapter of my life for good. I thank God and Loa that I am still here today. I'm 29 years old now that happen to me when I was 21.

For someone who's generally more interested Physics and Philosophy I'm actually very surprised by what I've found. Thank you for the informational video. My parents are from DR, born and raised, and I know my family practiced 21 Divisions in DR. We had Florida water in the house always, my father has told me he’s protected, my grandmother had little practices and superstitions, etc. I’m not very connected to a lot of my family, as I’ve never gotten to meet a lot of them, and my parents only brought me to DR once, when I was 6 months old. Regardless of never meeting a lot of my family, I know that they are strongly tied to 21 Divisions. My mother gravitated toward Christianity the longer she’s lived in America, and she doesn’t even like to talk about 21 Divisions with me now that I am old enough to learn about it. I know in my heart that my ancestors want me to honor them and our culture. I was wondering how I get started with the practices, because I don’t want to do it by myself and do something wrong. Is there something I can do to maybe invite the loas to speak to me/claim me? I’ve never really had dreams or visions, and I don’t have much knowledge on the religion, so I don’t even think I would know if I did have any significant dreams or visions. Most African religions don’t speak of end of time. Ifa which is the divination system used in west African vodou and orisa tradition speaks mostly of creation and the birth of everything that exists.

Oriate yes this happens. The person I just baptized was like this as many of the culture. So he served and had many experiences with belie and Anaisa throughout life, so he pretty much knew. He got to the point where he was called and decided to initiate. Many are like this. Many within culture are called by their loa organically through dreams experiences and loa mounting them.

Crystal yes there is. What I mean is in comparison to cuban orisha the emphasis is less. In vodou multiple loa can mount the head, another thing is usually you don’t even say who your met tet is. So it’s less of a topic in vodou, but yes there is clearly a met tet and you have to develop with that met tet.

in our culture there is ogou shango which is basically shango. The ogou is added because he is of the nago nation also known as ogou nation. I think that a female ancestor is calling or letting you know that you might have to serve or do a service to ogou shango. possibly if you can investigate through family some one might have served this loa very strongly.

Thankfully I had also told my father and grandfather and they immediately took me to a Botanica in which whom the owners practice the 21 divisiones. I am half Dominican from father side and half Puertorican from mother side. When I'm in the Botanica I feel very upset I want to leave. While I'm getting my cards read I feel something taking over my body. I felt as if I was growing a tail and I had uncontrollable facial spasms. My body felt heavy at the same time I felt as if I was chained up. In one moment I remember cursing and laughing then all of a sudden I felt very dizzy and a peaceful presence that takes over me completely. All I remember after that was that I felt my wrist move in a motion that I never experienced and started dancing. When I came back to myself I felt genuinely clean mentally like I had no negative thoughts at all. I felt lighter. My deep breaths were satisfying. It's so hard to explain but all I can say is that I felt peaceful and as if no one could mess with me. So the man who was doing me the consultation tells me that the Loa who just entered my body was Anaisa and that my supposly "friend" was doing me the brujeria because she thought I wanted her husband. I was lost for words when I realized that she was the one putting me through all of that. He ask me if I wanted to return back what she has done to me and I replied NO. He gives me baths and instructions to take home so that I can finish cleansing myself. Immediately I am myself again. I felt alive ,happy full of joy. Being under a brujeria was the most disgusting experience that I ever went through in my life that I honestly couldn't do it back to her even though she deserved it. I wouldn't wish it literally on my worst enemy. At the time she had a child that was 6 years old and I grew close to the little girl and felt if I would harm her mother it would be as if I would be harming her. When I was under that brujeria I had no connection with my newborn child. I didn't feel love for her ,for myself or for anyone to be honest. I felt empty. I would feed her ,bathe her and change her diapers because I new it was morally correct. I new I had to do it. But the mental space that I was in kept me feeling empty. That hurt me so much to know that she didn't care if I could of harmed my daughter. I honestly know that God and the Loa were by my side giving me strength everyday to care for my baby because they were times that I would be sitting down and she would be in her crib and I would tell myself that it's all fake I'm stuck in a dream nothing that I'm living is real. I don't even know how to explain the pain I mentally went through. I love my daughter and will protect her always. Thankfully as soon as I seeked help my emotions came back in tune. I eventually never returned back to that apartment or to that partner. I simply lied to him and told him that our daughter wasn't his and that I couldn't be with him anymore. I moved and changed my phone number. I do not have any social media.I may have done wrong by lying to him but I don't think he was going to stop communicating with his cousin and his cousin wife is the one who did all that harm to me so I just didn't want anything to do with them anymore or wanted them to know anything about me. I wanted to close that chapter of my life for good. I thank God and Loa that I am still here today. I'm 29 years old now that happen to me when I was 21.

My father's Dominican and also was a 33rd degree Mason and mom's Haitian and is 7th day Adventist, but grew up as Carholic. I've always gravitated towards snakes since I was a child, I would play with them and they would slither towards me but never knew why. I was 10 yrs old when me and my family went to the beach in Cap Haitien and it was my first time seeing La sireine or Yemaya under water while I was swimming. I saw a beautiful dark skinned woman sitting on a rock with a mirror and and comb, and she was waving to me to come to her. I got freaked out and swam back to my family and told them what I saw. Ever since then, ive had trouble swimming. I love the ocean but it scared me at the same time. I almost drowned twice in Miami, because no matter how I try to learn how to swim, I can't. Thank you for the informational video. My parents are from DR, born and raised, and I know my family practiced 21 Divisions in DR. We had Florida water in the house always, my father has told me he’s protected, my grandmother had little practices and superstitions, etc. I’m not very connected to a lot of my family, as I’ve never gotten to meet a lot of them, and my parents only brought me to DR once, when I was 6 months old. Regardless of never meeting a lot of my family, I know that they are strongly tied to 21 Divisions. My mother gravitated toward Christianity the longer she’s lived in America, and she doesn’t even like to talk about 21 Divisions with me now that I am old enough to learn about it. I know in my heart that my ancestors want me to honor them and our culture. I was wondering how I get started with the practices, because I don’t want to do it by myself and do something wrong. Is there something I can do to maybe invite the loas to speak to me/claim me? I’ve never really had dreams or visions, and I don’t have much knowledge on the religion, so I don’t even think I would know if I did have any significant dreams or visions. Most African religions don’t speak of end of time. Ifa which is the divination system used in west African vodou and orisa tradition speaks mostly of creation and the birth of everything that exists.

Oriate yes this happens. The person I just baptized was like this as many of the culture. So he served and had many experiences with belie and Anaisa throughout life, so he pretty much knew. He got to the point where he was called and decided to initiate. Many are like this. Many within culture are called by their loa organically through dreams experiences and loa mounting them.
Thing with vodou is you do not only serve the met tet or cabezera, so you serve many. Sometimes you rarely work the main one. So this differs much from Osha in regards to tutelary deity.

Crystal yes there is. What I mean is in comparison to cuban orisha the emphasis is less. In vodou multiple loa can mount the head, another thing is usually you don’t even say who your met tet is. So it’s less of a topic in vodou, but yes there is clearly a met tet and you have to develop with that met tet.

in our culture there is ogou shango which is basically shango. The ogou is added because he is of the nago nation also known as ogou nation. I think that a female ancestor is calling or letting you know that you might have to serve or do a service to ogou shango. possibly if you can investigate through family some one might have served this loa very strongly.
