Great Lesson, Thanks !!! Never knew you gave Rockabilly Lessons when we lived in Palm Harbor, FL prior to 2010. Got some of your earlier stuff. Moved to California and found a new meaning for the songs "Hotel California" & "All the Gold in California is in a bank in somebody else's name." Keep Rockabilly Alive !!!
Thank you Leonard for watching the lesson and for supporting the channel. I really appreciate it.
Keep on Rockin' & Enjoy California

@@Damianblf Wish I'd known you when I lived there & worked at St Pete Airport: My guitar playing would be years ahead. I took Dobro Lessons in Clearwater and bought guitars from Stevie B's in Palm Harbor. I do have your Ultimate Rockabilly DVD and will check out all of your videos. Thanks
Like Steve I love rockabilly guitar and at the age of 80 years some would say that I should know how to play it by now growing up in my teenage years in the 50s/60s but Damian is brilliant and so encouraging I'm practising his tutorials and enjoying learning so much, many thanks buddy much appreciated. Never to old to learn as the saying goes.
Damian is my Rockabilly Hero
Thank you George for the kind words. :)

Love it how you say "....here in Sunny Tampa Bay, Florida!"...I'd love to live there as well! Classic licks for us this time!
Thank you very much for watching the lesson. Currently it's a beautiful day here. The sky is blue and the sun is shinning. Have a great weekend. :)

thanks Damian in Australia getting warm here too we got crocs here no gators except on my feet lmao
Right on the money man!! I’m going video by video as to absorb all your awesomeness. Cheers from Western Canada!!
I hope ill be famous one day, thanks to people like you i can actually learn guitar. you dont understand how selfless you are for giving out free lessons.
Thank you for watching. Glad you are enjoying the lessons. :)
@@Damianblf You've come such a long way from your first lessons. Today's version of this lesson would have the bouncing ball above the notes and the chord names that go with the tab on the video. Hopefully, the next step will have lines on the tab to show where the measures start and stop. Thanks so much for all your work.
I just found this video of yours and really like your teaching style! I’m a 62 year old beginner to intermediate guitarist and got what you were teaching on the first take. I’m a huge rockabilly fan and am looking forward to exploring your other videos and getting your course soon. Thank you, keep doing what you’re doing, and be well Sir!
Thank you Steve. Glad you enjoyed the lesson. Keep on rockin' :)
Darryl Higham! The English Brian Setzer! Love his stuff. Can't wait to tackle this one! Thanks, Damien and stay healthy and safe!
Enjoy the lesson George. :)

excellent.. I have been playing guitar for many, many years and playing rockabilly was one style I always wanted to learn. Thank you for this quick lesson. I'll be watch more of your videos. Thanks again
Really nice lesson! I like the concept with each part in full speed, slow speed and tabs. It makes it possible to learn!
Great lesson! Much appreciated Damian! All of your lessons are straight forward and easy to understand and that starts with you --- the teacher. They're "not" all over the place. I like how you present them in a fun, friendly and organized manner. Great job!
Thank you Steve. That really means a lot to me. :)

Just wanted to say thanks for the lessons and the good vibes D. And to add that whatever “style” of music people want to play. I’m finding these rockabilly licks really helps me to connect riffs to the underlying chords. I feel like I’m finally able to play “proper” solos using these riffs and not just “notes from the scale targeting chord tones”.
Thanks again.
That's great. I'm glad the lessons have been helpful.
Thank you so much for watching them. :)

Brilliant lesson as always. Thanks for putting these out.

Thank you for yet another great lesson Damian. I was somewhat surprised to realise that I could already play some of these licks. What makes it sound fresh is the wonderful way that they all link together. I have been following your lessons for a few weeks now, while we have been in "lock down" here in the UK, and I think my trio will be surprised when we are able to play again together. The sad thing is that many of the venues we usually play at are are in danger of "going bust", and I sometimes wonder if I will ever get to gig with my new solos. Keeping hopeful though, you have been making an eighty year old man prove the old adage wrong. You have certainly taught this old dog some new tricks. Cheers from Yorkshire England.
Awesome, glad the lessons are helping and thank you for watching. I really appreciate it. Hopefully soon you'll be out rockin' with your band again. :)

84 now and still rocking on - thanks Damian.@@Damianblf
That is one hot lesson! You play so clean (and fast!). I love this kind of guitar. I think of it in relation to what Mickey Baker called "Hot Guitar" in his great book back in the '50s: swing, rockabilly, R&B, rock, soul: it's all good! ;o)
Thank you for those kind words. I really do appreciate it :)
love it, especially the 5B 8G long bend
Thank you Paul. I like that part as well. :)
Cheers
DAMIAN
was a bit of a stretch at first with first finger and pinky i have looked and tried the regular fingering in chart ok slow but when i play between 80 and 120 that goes out of the window i just do what's natural
hey Damian,
Cool t-shirt. I have one like that too. But of course also a cool video.
I love the great sound of Gretsch.

Awesome Damian, and one lick is indeed Scotty Moore, those bends reminded me of Jailhouse Rock.Thought it was more difficult to play it on speed, nailed it within the hour. Thanks man for sharing your wonderfull lessons with us. Gonna transpose it to different keys as well. Keep on Rockin Damian.

@@georgearagon2546 It's a beautiful guitar. :)
You mean Darryl Higham? A great player. I signed him as a Peavey endorses back in the early 2000’s. He helped develop a Peavey guitar named the Rockingham.

Great videos and you're a great player. I recently got my first gretsch 5420 and I'm wondering what amp, effects, and tone settings you use to get that great hollow body rockabilly sound.
What model grestch ate ypu using?
It's a 1996 6120SSU :)
Rock on buddys
Thank you :)
how about the solo in the intro of this video?
Hi Damien - what settings do you use to get the rockabilly sound. Vibrato? Reverb? Other?
If I'm going for a rockabilly sound, I'll usually use a delay pedal for a slapback sound and a bit of reverb.
Hey Damian! Love your stuff! Is this particular riff covered in any of your DVDs?
My full length Rockabilly course features licks very similar to this style. If you search this title that i put down below you will find a video of mine that shows a preview of the lessons in the course. This way you can see what you would be learning.
