    Thanks for this update. Hope you do an update on your levis 511 or any of your jeans too. With you wearing them/fit pics, clips. Very curious. Great content by the way.

    I have this same style in Black Prairie leather. I use the Red Wing leather insole instead of a gel one. I think Red Wing sells them for 40 bucks. Stays in place and doesn't move around. Helps with the fit too.

    Your vids have a touch of ASMR to them, which is pleasant. Keep up the good work, love the vids.

    Those boots are gorgeous. I was tempted to buy them but I went with the famous Iron Rangers instead because I'm more familiar with how to take care of them. Nourishing and brushing my boots is part of the hobby for me. Maybe I'll get one of Red Wing's rough out leather boots some day. In any case, their heritage boots aren't cheap but they're worth every penny.

    I've got a pair of Red Wing Blacksmith 3341s and Roughneck 2948s. Both are also 12 months old and look almost new. The 2948's are the Roughneck's version of your 'spitfires' with the same roughout black leather. If you add a hard plastic stiff bristle brush (similar to what people have in their bathroom) to you cleaning arsenal, you will find it is an excellent way to clean off dust, dirt and mud. It does this while maintaining the natural nap of the roughout leather. Be sure to target the stitching. You can then clean, oil and brush/buff with a horse haired brush. They will look brand new. Lastly, use cedar wood shoe trees to maintain shape and eliminate odor.

    I got a pair of Iron rangers 8111 for Christmas. Fantastic boots. Love to get a pair of the black spitfire ones also. I've used red wing boot cream on them already an it doesn't darken them at all. I got the red wing boot care kit with soap, boot cream, protector spray and two brushes, one small one for applying the cream and a normal one. I also changed the lases to leather ones.

    This is definitely a boot that I would like to add in 2955. No longer carried by Red Wing, but looking for a used pair in size 8.5.

    I agree with the bit of nap that comes up being really nice; I saw a pair of Spitfire Merchants on Imgur and the nap had come up a bit and they just looked even better. I also had a bit of the opposite experience with break in: my 875s were comfy straight out of the box, but my Iron Rangers (same last as the Blacksmith) had some pressure points I had to work through. But now the IRs are unbelievably comfy and the leather is so much more supple than when they were new. I've also had zero issues breaking in these 2015 Huntsman boots, they have a moc toe like the 875, albeit a different stitching style. If you get those IRs, hopefully the break in will be similar to your blacksmiths!

    I love the brass looking eyelets and hooks! Goes so well with the black leather and brown welt! I'm looking at a pair on eBay now at 180,- Euros

    Great video review. If you’ve enjoyed the Blacksmith boots, you’ll love the Iron Rangers. I have three pairs in the amber harness, charcoal rough and tough and hawthorne muleskin leather. I wholeheartedly recommend them. I’m also a big fan of doc martens which I see you also wear.

    Try the all natural leather conditioner on these. That product has beeswax in it and will help condition the leather and keep it back in place.

    Could we get an update on the dr. Martens MIE soon? Just bought a pair myself, and i'm excited to see if you are happy with them or not.

    Try the Red Wing Leather Footbed. It's a stiff but cushioned leather insole with a foam underside.

      Yes, I have recently experienced them in my 1907's they are a good insole; simple but effective!

    Great looking boot
    If I were to change to waxed laces on my Iron Rangers would you mind letting me know the proper length? Is that something they would have at the Redwing store?
    Thanks

    Try a magnet 🧲 in there and I bet these boots have a steel shank. I think are the best for a good boot or shoe. ✌️

    Hi. Love the channel. Where did you manage to pick these up for £100?! Been looking recently and the cheapest I can find them is £200. I know these are now discontinued in the UK and I was hoping to pick up a pair before they go.

    Try otter wax if you want to re wax the boot.

    • @JJ-lu6mg
      @JJ-lu6mg 6 лет назад

      Does the wax on the rough out leather make them more water resistant over the other oil tanned leathers. I do know that the rough out leather is much more durable from abrasions.

    I own a pair of the RW Blacksmith in black spitfire leather, and have always wondered if this is what SB Foot Tannery lists as their "Distressed Waxy Nubuck". www.sbfoot.com/products.html Either way, cool boot style, and leather. Very soft leather, almost zero break in compared to my RW Iron Rangers, and other comparable boots. I condition mine with RW All Natural Boot Oil, just like I would any other oil tanned leather. CJ Cook told me that he uses Mink Oil on his. Good review.

    Are they water-proof (or perhaps water-resistant)? The texture looks like it'd soak up moisture like a sponge but I'm sure I must be wrong....

    • @JJ-lu6mg
      @JJ-lu6mg 6 лет назад +2

      @Paul Greenwood they are actually are pretty good water resistant but not water proof. The rough out leather has a lot of wax on them and if you add some mink oil that will improve it even more 👍🏼

    Bro those boots lookin a little dry. Boot oil.

    • @DevonReviewer
      @DevonReviewer  3 года назад

      I kinda like the look of boots as the dry a little personally, but yes as soon as the leather is looking suede-y they probably need a bit of wax

    • @Loganedward29
      @Loganedward29 3 года назад

      @@DevonReviewer I feel that. They do get a nice look as they age dry. I would do that with the heavy oil tanned leathers to get a longer time out of the boots. Companies like Nicks have 8oz leather that can take extremes and not break on you.

      Hardly, given their quality and provenance. These would absolutely go and do anything you want them to. Far better than glued foam shoes and plastic garbage boots.

      No man no, these are quality made footwear. Wearing well made shoes doesn’t make people hipsters, stop leaving angry uninformed comments.
