Cloverdose They could do that but only the series 5 has the tech to make the screen refresh at 1hz, saving battery so the battery in all other models would be consumed very quickly

Seriously! The best thing was the Iwatch 4 and the X Max versions that actually made the biggest change to Apple to date. Now all they have is reused “newer” models with what “ a better camera” (shocker) and a compass and always on display that will drain your battery. Apple really disappointed this year. First year I won’t upgrade.
Why would I want an always on display? I like that my series 4 turns off when I’m not looking to avoid ppl looking at my watch screen. Keeps it more private.

I bought the series 4 about 3 months ago and it’s amazing. With the 5 though I am absolutely flabbergasted at how they could not come up with anything new to put in the watch so they only branded it with a feature that could have been done with a software update. I think if Apple can’t come up with something actually that new or worth an upgrade in abouts to the series of watch or phone then there is nothing wrong with taking an extra year or even two to come up with an actually new forward thinking product. Being rich off their ass already I guess is not good enough grounds to give up yearly flex bucks though.

I just bought the new series 5 stainless steel gold face and stainless steel black band and I’m loving it so far. I didn’t get the gold band because the color looks more like copper to me
You never answered why you bought the same exact band that you already have 0:54 . If the bands are interchangable, why wouldn't you get something different??? I went to the Apple store yesterday to get the series 5, because I was looking forward for it. I’m not sure if it was the lighting in the store but I didn’t find the always on display very useful as it was very dull so I decided to stay with my series 4.
If I had a 4 I wouldn’t upgrade either. Doing yearly upgrades is not worth it. I’m upgrading from a Series 2 and I can’t wait to get the new stuff going you guys already had with the Series 4 😁⌚️

My 3 years old Samsung Gear S3 has an always-on display. It dimms and brightens according to hand position. Good innovation, Apple! Welcome to the club.
This is the reason I’m upgrading my Apple devices in larger spans of time. They now last longer and perform better during longer periods of time. I’m upgrading iPhone every 2 years (might go for 3 depending on the 2020 version). Apple Watch every 2 years. iPad Pro every 4 years. Bought MacBook Pro in 2014 and it still feels great, probably will upgrade in 2 more years, and keep going for 6-8 years span upgrades. I don’t see why I should buy new HomePod and Apple TV, those work fine and haven’t seen any largely relevant reason to upgrade. Other stuff like AirPods, I could upgrade about every 2 years or a bit more.
I have an elderly mom who lives and travels independently so the "free" international SOS feature with the cellular model is a must have. I don't need to activate the watch with any carrier but can still be rest assured that if she fell or needed to call SOS/911 for any reason then its there right on her wrist. If anyone has an elderly parent get the cellular model for sure, it will be a life saver... the I've fallen and I can't get up scenario is very real and happen at any time.
I have both if you have anything less than a 4 there is no need to upgrade the series 5 is better than the 4 in everyway but I guess it’s a personal choice.

Nobody is being forced to buy a whole new watch. This watch very well be for the person that does not already have a watch or wants to buy a smart watch for the first time. For the hundred plus years the wrist watch has been in existence people could look at the time without even moving their wrist. As I type this comment I can just look at my wrist AND type at the same time without stopping and know the time. The original "auto off" smart watches should have never been made, or they shouldn't have called them a watch. It is not about lazy, it is about having a watch that is actually a watch.
In the same shoes but decided to get the S4 to save money. Not worth getting the S5 brand new. I got a 44MM gold Stainless for the same price as the S5 aluminum

The compass app might not be that useful but the built in compass allows the maps app to show the direction. That is absolutely not a game changer but a big difference to series 4 and in daily use.
Some people complain that the series 5 screen is dimmer than the series 4. It looks a bit like that on the images of your video, but did you notice a difference in brightness?

picked up a Series 4 for $222 on ebay. Super clean. Much better value this year.

You put that band on wrong. The part that you use to adjust goes at the bottom so it’s not pulling against your wrist when you wear it

I have both if you have anything less than a 4 there is no need to upgrade the series 5 is better than the 4 in everyway but I guess it’s a personal choice.
Not sure why my Series 4 does not have the Meridian watch face. It’s running watchOS 6. Can anyone confirm this, please?

Only reason I’m thinking about upgrading is because I need a cellular version. And I can get it for 70down and 0 a month 🤷🏻♂️

Nobody is being forced to buy a whole new watch. This watch very well be for the person that does not already have a watch or wants to buy a smart watch for the first time. For the hundred plus years the wrist watch has been in existence people could look at the time without even moving their wrist. As I type this comment I can just look at my wrist AND type at the same time without stopping and know the time. The original "auto off" smart watches should have never been made, or they shouldn't have called them a watch. It is not about lazy, it is about having a watch that is actually a watch.

In the same shoes but decided to get the S4 to save money. Not worth getting the S5 brand new. I got a 44MM gold Stainless for the same price as the S5 aluminum
I think the compass would be useful when the map direction says “go east” and you don’t know the local geography..

Kinda seems like you’re paying an extra $100+ just for always on display and the always on display is the reason I don’t want it in the first place
The compass app might not be that useful but the built in compass allows the maps app to show the direction. That is absolutely not a game changer but a big difference to series 4 and in daily use.
Can I sync it with Samsung Note 10+?
Some people complain that the series 5 screen is dimmer than the series 4. It looks a bit like that on the images of your video, but did you notice a difference in brightness?
