My brother got his big toe cut off by the chain on his bike when he was a kid. It never held him back. He was a great athlete all thru school. After graduation he wanted to join the Army, but they wouldn't take him. He even brought all his ribbons and medals and trophies he had earned in high school for baseball, basketball, football, and track to show them, but they wouldn't take him. Then my parents got a hold of our congressman, Lee Hamilton, and with a lot of help from him and his staff, my brother joined the Army.

I am shocked that Marks father had been such a big presence in his sons life and then was suddenly gone. It’s one thing to get a divorce, but it’s a whole other to walk out of your child’s life altogether.

What the hell was with Mark's dad? You impress upon your son your OWN dreams, you're in his life....and then you just up and leave because you want your life to be better? You couldn't just make it better with your own family? What a piece of work. That entire family seems like it has some deep and dark dysfunction though...I can feel it. 😢

Aawwwww John, and Mark and every other kid that got abandoned by their fathers, we get it. There are so so many of us. When will men learn how incredibly vital you are to your children. The moms generally step up because that is what we do. Just try and realize that parents have no idea what their getting into when they have a child but if you have a child you will forever be held responsible for that human. If you don't step up and take care of that child it WILL come back on your head tenfold. Someone, somewhere will always love you.

I went to England to visit family for 20+ years (dad worked for an airline). I either never saw a place with central air, or I was too young to have noticed. When your regular top temperature is +25 centigrade, why bother installing it? Same with Vancouver, B.C., however with houses going for $1.25 MILLION CAN, the average homeowner probably can’t afford it.
