The reason we had some confusion with that barrier on exit: we booked Carnfunnock in March 2020 and the booking email said "Upon arrival at Carnfunnock please bring this receipt with you to check in at our Visitor Centre, where a £20 refundable deposit for an access fob and parking pass is payable. " Obviously things changed since then, and those barriers came in. I suppose if we'd gone to reception when they were open, all would have been explained, but we were only there one night, leaving early in the morning and they weren't open!
Thank you Bob and Jenny for the brilliant footage and commentary of our we country you have done us Proud better than our tourist board And so good to see Poppy enjoying the walks enjoy the rest of your stay and have a safe Journey home .
Here in Northern Ireland we have a problem with illegal parking by some members of the travelling community..Hence the high barriers..not so good for the motorhome owners who live in N.I.
We are doing Delamont and Carnfunnock in May this year with our caravan. My wife originally comes from Carrickfergus and her family still lives there. It really is a beautiful part of the world . Really enjoyed your drive up the coast road . We live in Banbury Oxfordshire now but love to go back when we can. Great blog
Bob and Jenny I don't think that can be right that you had to pay additional £4. Might be worth a phonecall to the council. So glad you made it along the coast. For your next visit there is a lovely site at Glenariff Forest and also a few pitches in Cushendun Campsite.
Coast road is beautiful.. its been quite a few decades since I've been along there.. thank you for sharing Yeah height barriers are a pain for tourists.. traveling community/gypsies can take over the car parks hence the barriers
The coast road scenery is stunning. I'm looking forward to the next instalment. Thought it was a bit naughty charging you for parking when you didn't actually park and were staying on the camp site. Such a shame so many places are closed to dogs. It's probably irresponsible owners who have spoilt it for everyone else, but sad that a well behaved dog like little Poppy loses out because of it.
Hi Bob, jenny & poppy. I have fun watching you both joking about. Poor poppy, not allowed to go in all these lovely places. Never mind poppy, there's many more adventures ahead. It is so beautiful in Ireland, did you go to southern Ireland. Lots of memories. Lots of lovecLinda xx ❤
Glad to hear u would come back to NI before u do reach out and we can help plan some of the next sights to see and I would also suggest u include Donegal as part of ur trip. There is so much to see and do. U don’t have too spend a lot of money either. All u need is the weather.
Thank you. We planned NI 3 years ago and announced it on the channel, and when we did, we got lots of suggestions where to go. There only so much we can do in one visit! 😊
Another superbly presented video! Thank you both! Carnfunnock has some great walks and cycle routes. It's great for families with its free playpark, maze, playing field and a privately run activity area with train ride, mini golf etc. Some of the walks are really interesting with great view points. 3 different treasure hunt route maps cane be purchased for a £1 at the reception/shop. Agree that the sites are badly sloped but the entire country park is on a hill. Not right that the MEA council charged you for parking. That ANPR system wasn't there when I last visited. A call/email to the council if you have time? Soo looking forward to your next video of the magical coast road and Glens of Antrim. Fantastic to see you stopped at historic Carrickfergus Castle. Not in GoT but Dungeons and Dragons with Hugh Grant was filmed there recently. For your viewers, the castle museum is well worth a visit and there are a few motorhome spaces and an electric hook up point in the carpark you stopped at, but obviously poorly marked/signed. There is a plaque on the pier you walked along commemorating the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip landing there by boat in 1961. Prince William and Princess Catherine, Baron and Baroness of Carrickfergus visited the castle last week! Hope they've been watching your videos! Wishing you many, many more happy miles!
Hi Bob, Jenny and Poppy, a lovely scenic drive, a nice woodland walk, with a lovely view. Ooh I didn’t like the troll, I agree the owls are beautiful. Bob what do you fix your GoPro on when you are driving, I tend to hold ours, but would be handy to fix it at times x
Thanks for another great video. We stayed there a couple of years ago when we went to wedding at the Ballygally Castle Hotel. There is a fantastic walk through the woods from the campsite to Ballygally. Poppy would love it.
If you come back we'd love to link up.... You make excellent videos and We've really enjoyed them. We've visited a lot of places that you've shown us. If / when you come back make it a long visit and come south. Thanks again
You should have read: On arrival at the main barrier, please take a ticket Validate your ticket at the visitor centre - this allow you to enter and exit the barrier with no delays/charge for the duration of your stay You can get your ticket validated at any stage during your stay so just call into reception when convenient
This was the information we got in the email. "Upon arrival at Carnfunnock please bring this receipt with you to check in at our Visitor Centre, where a £20 refundable deposit for an access fob and parking pass is payable."
Ballygally castle hotel, has a ghost in the top turret. Please are welcome to climb the stairs to the haunted room. Stairs are quiet steep. At exit barrier, the road on the left takes you up to the very large dilapidated manor house. You should NOT have had to pay the car park fee. The entrance barrier was the Y junction. Left for motorhomes etc, right lane to the very large upper car park. Stay Safe enjoy the travel, the sea journey the A75 road trip.
You were about 100 yds from my apartment when you parked up at Carrickfergus. On the other side of the blue apartments at the harbour is another marina. The car park can be busy with people working in the town and others who park to commute to Belfast. Better to come with a motorhome at the weekend, or in the evening to find a good spot and stay overnight as it is free to stay there. The castle was offered for Game of Thrones at the beginning, but the council turned down the request. Huge mistake 🙂. The town has an interesting history and Let's Walk did a narrated walking tour recently on YT. ruclips.net/video/0v51-q9gcsk/видео.html. On your drive down to Larne, you would have passed the main filming site for Game of Thrones without realising. The disused quarry at Magheramourne was the filming location for the ice wall and many other scenes.
Just found your video and wish we had been there to see you in the flesh…we watch and enjoy your videos here in Northern Ireland. Absolutely disgrace you Had to pay for the car park.
When we stayed there a couple of years ago we didn't have to pay an additional parking fee. It is all a bit confusing because you enter and exit the campsite through the same barrier as the country park
Height barriers are the most annoying things ever, it makes you feel very unwelcome. Sometimes it’s very hard to understand the rules on where dogs can go, some of the rules don’t make much sense. The parking fee is terrible and needs sorting out.
It's near Larne, not in Larne and it's we definitely stayed at a site called Carnfunnock Country Park. Here's the link www.midandeastantrim.gov.uk/things-to-do/parks/carnfunnock-country-park/caravaning-camping/
Yes, we were leaving Delamont to Arrive at Carnfunnock Country Park. That's why it's called Arriving at Carnfunnock. We often leave one campsite to go to another, it's part of touring.
Beautiful views

It's not the money, just the inconvenience. Don't know why they couldn't include it in the campsite fee.

Love Ballygally. I’ve stayed in those apartments just 2 months ago . Enjoyed the video as always.
Thank you very much.

Thanks, we had a quick drive into Ireland in a previous video, but that's all.
I had a brief stop in Carrickfergus to like you walk dogs but it does look interesting
I did not know much about William 111 until i moved to Liverpool, the orange lodge is still a big thing here with parades to Southport every year.
Yes, we get those parades every year.

Thanks, I use the GoPro Suction cup and a 360 degree swivel mount attachment. I fix the suction cup just under the rear view screen.
@@BobEarnshawMoHo thanks Bob we will give it a go x
Enjoy the coast road, your in for a treat.
Another brilliant video. Thank you

11:05 THANK YOU to All of you (Poppy included! ☺) I'm making mental notes of height barriers & tunnels etc. I've been forwarding your vids to folk! ☺
I can't believe you had to pay to get out of a campsite!!! You were parked on the pitch you paid for! Must be an Irish thing!!!
Yes, still puzzled by it, all done by the same machine.
I would complain you paid for site did they not know you had a camper as well.
There was number plate recognition, so I assumed it would take that into account. Ah well.
This IS NOT Carnfunnock ....it is a horse shoe site
I hesitate to ask what do you mean?
