An OG warriors fan here I remember watching that lottery with to much optimism thinking we could really jump up to the 1st and get blake griffin (it happened the year before with the bulls and d rose that’s why i had high hopes ) i was so disappointed when it didn’t happen... You know what’s more, Memphis didn’t even need him! They had a young promising center in Marc Gasol who made the NBA All Rookie team in 2008-09 and center wasn’t even their top priority of need. They needed a PF but this wasn’t a strong draft for that position, and later that July they just traded for Zach Randolph to solve that problem. If I was the Grizzlies GM in this situation I would’ve just dealt the pick for something great, cause there was no position that they really needed at the pick.

This shows you that nobody really knows how good players will be, it is a crapshoot. ONCE IN A WHILE there are players that are generational #1 picks (Shaq, Lebron, Zion, Tim Duncsn) that you know will be good players.
