Contractor from the East Coast bro and flawless stuff every time. Seeing your work every time reminds one got into this line of work and just why I love doing shower remodels period because I truly believe this type of work is an art.
I appreciate that!
Beautiful work Landberg!
Thanks boys! Always appreciate the comments from an amazing channel like yours! A lot of hard work goes into each and every video👊😎
Great job , total quality work from start to finish as a contractor I know the attention to detail makes a massive difference well done 👍
Thanks 👍
Best video on this subject that I've seen --- and I've seen a lot!
Hey bro I'm a tiler from Jamaica words can't explain how much u inspired me I LOVE ur work bro
Thanks brother! I'll keep trying to do my best. Appreciate the kind comment 👊
Nice job, I'm tiling two of these inserts today but have to use stainless flat edge trims around the edges as the tiles are cheap ceramic . It's a much better look with a mitre for sure and it won't date in time... Thanks for sharing 🙂
I have only seen those tile niche in foreign hotels. They look real cool when done well. I believe the bathroom is either the most or least important room in a dwelling. There is no in between.
That is impressive work. Like the mitered cuts better than the trim
The Hyper Quality workmanship never gets old!! I sometimes wonder if, the homeowners know just how good their getting it?
They do. It’s called the bill.
Thanks brother. We don't think about that much and simply try to do the best we can. This kind of niche is a challenge and we love a good challenge!
and yes, we certainly collect
Amazing every time. Love the trimless look
It’s a clean look. Haven’t done it in awhile but on my next build with a niche I’m going to try and sell the customer on it. Not seeing as many niches lately though. Designers are going for the schluter corner and linear shelves
Designers...smh...in my opinion niches will never go out of style because most people would rather have recessed shelving than a protruding shelf just for the space. The main thing is cost. With inflation and everyone tightening their budgets i can see how a homeowner would opt out of spending $500 plus on a niche when they could just add a $30 corner shelf that doesnt require much labor cost.
A Mattson, makes sense and I totally agree with you. We pitch return on investment on home value. A beautiful niche is much more desirable than shelves in a shower.
@@LandbergTileTV smart selling strategy on return on investment. A nicely made niche is often the highlight of the whole shower so the upcharge is justified in my mind. They are pricey but some people dont understand the extra labor/time involved in having a niche to construct, layout, waterproof, tile, grout...not to mention the liability involved in sometimes altering the framing structure.
@@amattson6578 Absolutely spot on, agree with everything you said.
I like the look, very modern and clean. Great video bro!
Clean. Nice work sir
I love the look but I rarely have finished tile on all 4 sides of my niches to do so as I build customs sizes and nobody ever wants them thats small here. Lol. The risk/reward method is so worth it if you can pull it off without chipping an edge before grout! Great work as always!
Looks great!
Top,Top,Top,Super Qualität, Sehr gut 👍 👍 👍 👍
Beautiful work!
Still Killin it bro! Nicely done 👍
Fantastic work
yes sir
Cuantos centimetros de ceramica debes de aumentar para que los cortes 45° te den a hueso? Saludos amigo!
Awesome video as always sir. When you were using the diamond pad were you trying to correct the imperfections in the bevel or were you trying to bevel beyond 45°. I have had issues trying to keep the grout joint uniform in the past. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us please keep the videos coming sir. “FLIP”
Top notch brother.
thanks brother
I thought you liked a 7" blade for mitering because it's less flexible. Is that new RTC blade the reason you're able to use the 10" DeWalt saw? I'm sure the clearance on the left side of the blade on that saw is nice too!
Looks great.
I have a Rubi DT 36 and it does just as good as the DeWalt saw on the mitre or any other cuts
I can't seem to find that saw, is it bridge?
@@LandbergTileTV No its like the dewalt with a tray, it is DT-10 inch max,I had the name wrong, but it is equivalent to the Dewalt 36000,but by Rubi
What's up with that flex when you pressed the back wall of the niches tile in? Is that the Decoupling mat flexing like that? It looked like the wall flexing in. Is that going to continue to do that after the thin set and grout cure?
What is the tool that you used to sand or buff the edges? And also the sand pad that you used? Thank you. I learn so much from you!
That is a diamond pad. If you tap the more link under the video, I have the links for the diamond pads (green)
The best ever

I all the years I've been watching you guys Liggy Liggy Landberg I don't think I've ever asked which you prefer. Mitered & Schluter trim niches? Just curious. Hoping all is well guys, Dirty Jersey out!!!!
Hey Mike! We would say Schluter, trims the niche out like a picture frame. Less time for us and less money for the client. Good weekend brother! 👊
Sweet Landberg! Are you using the P4 on the miters? Thanks! 👊
That blade is RTC Rockstar! 👊👊👊
Great video bro. Did client request this?
Nope, we do it when the general price is right and the client is awesome! There are other variables, but it's always fun to do!
Hey I just showed my contractor this for my niche install and he said because of the tile I’m using it will chip. Is there a special blade?
When you miter porcelain or ceramic, you cut below the "glaze" not on the glaze. This takes experience and skill. I would recommend Schluter Jolly trim and miter at all 4 corners.
Ya it looks great. None of our customers want to do this though..everyone wants to use shcluter trim I like this though
Just wondering why miter? It would still work fine without mitering wouldn’t it?
Yes, works fine without mitering. This is a look some clients want (no trim)
hey, what blade where you using in this video?
I saw you use a battery grinder to polish miter edge. I have problems using battery grinder with my polishing pads . I have to pull out the makita variable grinder out. What am I doing wrong. Is it the type of grinder . I think that's awesome you use a battery grinder with pads. I have to use the variable speed grinder. Battery grinder goes to fast for me to polish with pads . What I'm a doing wrong
Variable speed grinder is the right way, we don't have one (dewalt doesn't offer it). Takes a little finesse with the pressure 👊
Have a question on the side pieces do you cut them on the bottom to match the slope on the bottom piece
Yes, the cut is tapered. Measure the front side piece and subtract 1/8" for the back and cut.
Wow. I don’t know of a cleaner look for a niche. Do u flood test your pans before tiling?? And you should play the RUclips music score during your actual work! Also, For the ultimate in waterproofing, would you ever apply hydro ban or red guard over the entire Kerdi membrane and up the walls 6 inches so it will like never leak? Even tho u may not have leaks now with Schluter, would u even consider it??? Thanks.
Thanks Dave! We flood test sometimes, never use a topical membrane on our Schluter showers and always provide a guarantee for our builds. We are extremely confident on each and every build and will always tear out our own showers if they fail. Laticrete will be our go to showers systems very soon
How far into the opening does the miter protrude?
Usually the width of the tile
Does the ledge tile and upper tile in niche get cut 1/4" less than the total width of opening? Doo you nibble the front corners of those mitered cuts to accommodate the two inner side miters?@@LandbergTileTV
Do the grinder polishing pads you use have an rpm limit? I don't have a variable speed grinder. Yet lol
no comment lol
@@LandbergTileTV copy that. Thats what i needed to know. 👍👍
Been do this for couples years.. mitre join with epoxy filing
What blade are you using?
That is the RTC Rock Star blade
What size niche is that?
What kind of grout did you use
prism
@@LandbergTileTV do you recommend epoxy for the mitres or can use regular grout
@@Untam3d28 we always use prism and never had a problem.
👍
Perfect install but tiles are looking like turkey in jelly 🙈
Got a ?.. Whats standsrd depth for a niche ?.. And
Most pre-fab niches are 3.5 inches in depth. We reduced this so it could fit in the bay (2.75")
great tiling job but ughhh those tiles are horrid
This is what all the Russian tile setters do
I'm surprised you grout your mitres. Silicone is a much better option. Just my opinion.
Precision
What blade are you running?
That blade is new, by RTC called the Rockstar. Great hard porcelain blade!
