It’s awesome that you have an actual 35mm projector in your home! I’d love to see a video about the different sound processors, how they work and how/why you choose which sound format to present a film in. Would also love a video talking about what films you own and how you acquire them. Love the videos and also love that you all have family time together!
When I was much younger i would often wonder how interesting It would be learn how to run a projector for a living. I went on to to work as a computer operator. thanks for these videos on this lost art regards Trevor
I'm trying to remember where I got these leaders. I got them when I was at the drive in running film that I worked at and I just collected them all and brought them home when we changed over to digital. I'll try to find out where I got them originally and let you know. Thank you so much for your comments Also I try to keep the leaders off the floor even at the drive in . I was working at I'd never let the leaders touch the floor so they do tend to stay looking better.

Hi there, Really amazing video; I love this stuff. If it would not be too much trouble, would you mind answering an odd question? I am blind, so I might need a little more explanation than what a seeing individual would need. I was just at a theatre tonight where they had a 35mm screening of Titanic (my fav movie). I got a special opportunity to talk to the projectionist for a few moments. One of the questions I asked him was: if you wanted to stop the movie and replay your favourite scene, how hard would it be to do that on a 35mm print? We didn't have much time to talk, but he explained to me that it would take a very long time to do this and would also damage the print. I was just wondering if you would be willing to expand on this? If you were really going to do it, what exactly would be involved? What sort of damage could/ would occur, and is it a foregone conclusion that this action would cause damage no matter how careful you were? Thank you.
It's realy not possible when running on a platter system once the movie is started you have to run to end you can stop in middle. But there is no rewinding back. Running reel to reel you could stop take it offf projector put on rewinds and the put back on projector. This realy ever done . Portable 16mm projectors can go in reverse. So you could back the movie up. Some portable 35mm might be able to go in reverse. Hope this helps thanks for your comments.
@@allensphotographyvideo If you were running reel to reel, what sort of damage risks would exist with the act of taking it off and rewinding? Does a 35mm projector have fast forward? If you can't rewind on a platter, could you get around it if you really wanted to by fast forwarding to the end, setting back up and fast forwarding to the target scene? Also, liked and subbed. Thank you very much.
@@genuinescorruption To answer your question, there is no fast forward on 35 mm projectors. It plays at 24 frames per second. The second question on how takeing the film off the projector in the middle. I did that a lot when I was at the drive in We were on hour reels. And I would sometimes the people would leave at the end of the night and so I would have to stop projector and would carefully pull the film off and then just rewind it. after we got a 13000 foot reels like you see, in my video last run screen 3 then I could run the movie if Everybody left before the movie was over. Then I could just pull the film out of the projector and easily rewind it
This is a HOME theater???? I bet the picture is bright and sharp and probably looks better than a digital picture in a commercial multiplex type setup.

Eat your heart out digital! Film projection is a superior experience.
Absolutely!

Just came across your video. Quite the setup you have at home. How did you acquire all the eqmt? Where do you obtain prints?
I got most of my prints from ebay and I got my equipment from my friend from the capital , theater in brigham city after they switched to digital
