35mm Print of Big Daddy Prep Video
I really wanna see a 35mm film without aperture to revealed a studio lights, Camera Lens, and Boom Mic.
What kind of sound system trailer did you put in DTS Digital Experience or Sonic Landscape
I don't have any sound logo on this print. I am running the print in sony sdds sound
Surprised it has been 20 years since that movie came out Still an underrated film
Analog film and analog sound
I play it in sony sdds sound
When I watched the movie, it took some time before I realized, that it is computer generated
Absolutely bloody wonderful. If I'm ever over in the States again, I'm coming round for a personal screening of this one. One of the best ever. John.
Loved to have come.
@@allensphotographyvideo I'll send a list of films I want to see in advance!!! Twister will probably be top of that list. John.
How many hours can you get out of the projector bulb before it needs replacement?
At least 2000 hours depending on the wattage
I love it!! I did ask the owner if I can have one of the platters and he said yes, I'm so excited, I already have the projector!!
That's Awesome you will have keep me posted on the progress
@ I definitely will 😀
I remember seeing this on the big screen as a kid!
crazy how you can do so many prevews I use to do them at my outside movie theater and my house but people would get mad if I showed more then 3 or 4 at most they would say come on when is the movie gonna start
When ran film in theater I would run 4 previews
Question: in your experience, how many times can you show a print before it wears out? And when they fail, how does it typically manifest? Thank you.
Prints can be run 100dreds of times When projector is well maintained plus keeping the film clean. Tanks for your comments and thanks for watching.
When I was a Projectionist, we showed Titanic for 9 months, 4 shows a day, and at the end of the 9 months the film was still fine. that is excessive wear, but at the end of the day it comes down to how you handle a film print and take care of it.
@@philipgranger6918 I love Titanic. Got to go to a 35MM screening last Valentine's day. As a blind person, I've long wished I could hear the optical soundtrack from a Titanic print. I'm curious to hear what they sound like. There's a version floating around online that's digitized from 35MM, but it doesn't include that.
@genuinescorruption The optical soundtrack was really good, if it is played on a system that can play it back in SR (Spectral Recording). Which is a form of analogue surround sound taken from the optical soundtrack, that is worth it.
@@philipgranger6918 Damn, I'd love to hear that. Can I ask you one more question? As a blind person, I of course don't see or fully understand what goes into this. But I love analogue technologies of all sorts (tapes, vinyl, etc) so this is right up my alley. I wanted to ask about the hypothetical logistics of accommodating a replay of somebody's fav scene on a film print. For me that would be the "I'm flying!" segment from Titanic. I've heard that this is physically impossible on a platter (to stop and go back) but that even when running reel to reel it would potentially be ill-advised. If that's so, can you explain the technical reasons behind it? Obviously we're not talking about an actual theatre setting where business logistics make this unfeasible, but more like a private / semi-private screening for some friends; if one asked you "Could you please replay that beloved scene for me?", could you (or would you) do it, and what would be involved (time, effort, risk) if you did?
nice; and the print is in god condition?
Yes it is
Keep up the good work Allen, two nights ago I ran a nice 35mm print from my platter through, my very close to 100 years old, "Ernemann 2" projector of "Mrs Doubtfire". What a brilliant movie the old girl ran like a swiss watch, both picture and sound were both really good.
Good stuff!!
I have never seen that movie, I know about it, I also have never seen packaging like that before. The reels usally arrive in plastic cans inside the box, have fun making it up.
I love your setup, I miss projecting film, I do have one of the projectors from my theater when we switch to digital, it does work but I have it on display in my concession area of my theater room! I will take a platter from work someday, I just have to add on to my house for a spot to make everything fit and to work!
That's a great idea!
Another great video.❤
Thank you 🤗
Firstly, congrats on getting a 35 mm print of "Twister". Secondly, I love these movie nights that you are having with your children, and your grandchildren. My two grandchildren are just turning two, so I guess I will be almost 70 by that time, but it is something to look forward to.
Thank you so much!
I love how the pictures looks on screen!! Also it look like you really take care of the projector and the equipment as well. It's nice sharing your passion with family, it what make life worth living for.
It does!
I would pay to hear it in SDDS wow I wish they still had places you could go and experience moives this way 35mm and SDDS.
Another amazing video! You've got such a beautiful family Allen! Hope you guys had fun.
You are so kind!!
Can you show the previews, the feature presentation and the sound system bumpers on your Movie Night videos next time?
yes I will. you also can check out my other video;s have some of that thanks for your comments & thanks for watching
@@allensphotographyvideo speaking of Feature Presentation, I have the mov file of the Style 700 Feature Presentation snipe that I brought from Filmack Website, and yep i converted to MP4.
You guys are awesome and lovely family. I love your passion and enthusiasm. 📽
The quality of that is beautiful. Saw this in 1996 at the best Cinema ever built, The Empire Leicester Square.
I take it the projected aspect ratio is 2.39:1?
You are correct.
Looks awesome
That's so interesting. The only movies I've watched in the theater was film. Haven't went back since 1992.
This is wonderful, this film is a classic. When this film came out, i was fortunate enough to watch it at my local cinema in Dolby Digital, then I went to another cinema to watch it in DTS. I don't have a 35mm print of this film, but I do have the Blu-ray. Director Jan De Bont did a great job with this film, not many people are aware that he was the director of photography on ''The Hunt for Red October'', it must look great on your big screen.
Loved this movie ever since it came out was fortunate to find this print and it is very good shape i play it in sdds but i do have the dts disc's sound mix is Awesome. Thank for your comments 🙏
So I want to know what are the audio differences between the three sound systems?
There mostly the same sdds sounds the best to me I do like dts too
Great sir
What movie?
Perfect storm
Spider-Man (2002)
Twister (1996)
Tom and Jerry Magic Ring (2001)
Where and when was this fimed?
Your videos are really informative and interesting. I also have a movie theatre in my garage current showing 16mm with the aim of installing 35mm machine as space becomes available using a Westrex tower system
Very cool! Thanks for watching
I assume this is the end of _The Perfect Storm._
Taward the end
Impresiona que tengas eso en casa... si se funde la lámpara ¿cuánto te cuesta una nueva?... y ¿ cuanto te cuesta cada película?... y ¿tienes muchas películas?. En definitiva ¿se puede mantener ese equipo en casa? 😱😱
I have 2 spare lamps I have about 30 movies
Pero cuanto cuesta 1 película...?? Y una lámpara?? Y donde se compran.... por que a un particular no le debe resultar fácil..... Creo que es demasiado caro
I always liked the flying disk better for dts
Me too!!
I don’t know if it’s possible to extract the 8 channel mix of the SDDS logo?
Good?
I mean, FT Depot did a 35mm scan of the SDDS test film in 5.1, So I don’t know of you have something to extract the audio from your print.
Brings back Warm Memmories , Everytime .... Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Great timing sir, I was just trying to look up how this is done the other day. I have a couple older cleaners from cold storage. They need a bit of TLC on the rubber parts before I can turn one into a bench cleaner. Getting the rubber roller in the center to grip my pads (or grip em less) seems to be the crux with these neglected units.
I need one of these for 16mm film. I’ve seen some set ups but never one for sale. Any idea if something like this one exists for 16mm? Would work good between a pair of rewinds
Not seen one 16mm
i've seen a 16mm Neumade film cleaner. not as nice as these Kelmar units but work on a similar principle. theres one on ebay
@designsbyg I need to find a way to convince my wife we need this one: www.ebay.com/itm/256503506832?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=vdnekBinQTi&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=gAqdupQWTLq&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
@Lundfishbuster Its called Film-0-Clean. I know the guy who manufactures them. Its like a miniature kelmar. They work great! I use on on my Eiki 16mm projector.
Allen, I'd like to know something about how the Dolby processor (in your case the CP500) and the SDDS processor work together. Does the sound come out of the CP500 then goes into the SDDS then out to the amps, or the other way round, SDDS output goes into the CP500 then out from the CP500 to the amps? A second question: is your DTS connected to the aux input of the CP500 or the SDDS? Thanks! Take care. Great installation you have !
in short sdds is separate system from the cp500 Good ? I'll try to do short video to explain
@@allensphotographyvideo Thanks for your reply Allen. I'll eagerly wait for the video. Actually, I'm very familiar with Dolby processors and DTS hook-up but never approached an SDDS processor. It's difficult to perceive it as a complete standalone processor because it has no buttons to select formats. Especially since, in case of digital failure, the system is supposed to switch to Dolby SR as a backup. The later version DFP-D3000 featured these buttons but not the DFP-D2000 that you have.
I am a big fan of old film like 35mm and 16mm
I wish I could hear SDDS all the cool movies had it when i was growning up it has been a long time since it went away I think we lost it in 2001 at united artist then it turned to regal great times it got worse when they went digital in 2012 they went out of business a few years later
thats this one it was the best
What movie was the feature presentation here?
50 1st dates
@@allensphotographyvideo 50 First Dates came out in 2004, but the video showed a trailer for Insidious: Chapter Two, which came out in 2013.
@@alexanderwhittle7671 it's just one of many trailers alote of trailers are from 2013 that was the last year I ran film at the drive in I collected them that year
@@allensphotographyvideo Was this a re-release?
@@alexanderwhittle7671 what are you asking?
Very cool to see all 8 channels working! What’s your favorite format between SSDS, DTS, and Dolby Digital?
Probably dts but I do like sdds alote
DTS is the only 35mm longterm-reliable digital sound format
