The shadow at the end of the video wasn’t a ghost, it’s because this song is part of their Map of the soul series where all the songs explore the psychological theories of Swiss Psychiatrist Carl Jung, who in his book The Map of the Soul talks about reconciling the Three parts of your Soul. The Persona (How other people perceive you). The Shadow ( All your fears and weakness) The Ego ( How you perceive yourself). This song is about them facing up to their fear that they may not be able to do music forever, and once they have faced that fear the Shadow gets smaller.
And RM wrote the song after watching the movie Black Swan also. It represents what an artist goes through when they fear loosing love for their art or not being able to do it anymore for any reason.💜
This is one of the most beautiful songs about fear of losing the ability to follow your passion in this case for them make music. They were inspired by the Martha Graham quote “a dancer dies twice, first when they can no longer dance and the first death is the most painful”. BTS has some of the most beautiful and powerful inspirational music I’ve ever heard and I’m old. They are poets and their audience is so diverse because their messages reach so many. I’ll never be tired of this message and how beautiful the dancing and lyrics are. Absolutely art. There is slot in their music about the shadows within us the shadows here were moving separate from the dancers. RM cried when he wrote this afraid of losing his passion for music.
And to me, the "do your thang with me" is like the audience and the performer talking back and forth. The audience's part is easy - we just consume, and wait for the musician to make songs. But the musician, as with any artist, sometimes has doubts or dry periods of creativity. It's not like they're machines that can just spit out perfectly formed songs on cue. So the listener's like, "Go ahead - be BTS and do your thang, woo!" and BTS is like, "What's my thang again"? Also, the "film it now" is like "quick, record the fruits of my creativity while I'm still able to produce them" - again, pointing to the fear that either their creativity or even passion could run dry, whether temporarily or longer. I agree, their lyrics are really thoughtful, interesting and often downright poetic, much more so than most 'pop' songs.
This song is about fear of losing inspiration or ability to perform.." a first death" ...As an athlete you can probably relate to that feeling......Pretty soon you will sing along in Korean like the rest of us
Yes . I remember another reactor saying about bts songs.. there is never a bad song . You might not like every song or it might not be your type but you can't say it's a bad song ..
This song says, “The dancer dies twice. The first death is when the dancer stops dancing. And this death is much more painful,” the legendary contemporary dancer Martha Graham made its motif. Just as a dancer faces his first death when he quits dancing, it contains the fear of the moment when he will no longer be able to stand on the stage as an artist. "The more I do music, the more I fear that music will no longer give me a lot of emotion or trembling, but the moment I face my inner 'Black Swan' from the depths of my heart, I paradoxically realize that there is only music." [Suga] Ayy, they say my heart is not beating no more listening to music Tryna pull up Time seems to have stopped Oh that would be my first death I been always afraid of [RM] If this makes me cry no more If you can't make my heart tremble more How could I ever die like this But what if that moment’s right now right now.
Namjoon has said they make music and lyrics to be consumed and interpreted by the listener. I'm glad you found your interpretation. BTS only makes hits, honestly. Just wait. A huge discography of great music! React to House of Cards Live by BTS. This is a b track so there's no official music video. The live from concert is wonderful. You'll hear from others what the mv is about. 💜
Yet another genre from BTS for you to consider! Don't worry about rewinding to read again, we appreciate it when you get how important the lyrics are. It is super hard to get it all in one view, with reading. You are right , meaningful message is what is missing from most music these days. Thanks for your thoughts. Now I'm waiting for Singularity and Lie.
I love your reactions! I’ve seen people who are new to BTS and having trouble watching and reading go and read the lyrics before watching the video. This way they can be less tied to reading while watching. I know it seems hard to believe but you will reach a point where Korean doesn’t sound foreign to you and you get accustomed to reading/watching at the same time 💜
I know I say this every reaction, but I’m telling you, Find a live performance video with English subtitles for BTS’s House of Cards, and Pied Piper. There is one that is a medley of Pied Piper and Dimple. That one is good too ( Obviously) But not for you. Find a performance that is Just Pied Piper and react to Dimple separately at a later time since I feel like you will like Pied Piper better. And then you also NEED ( and I’m not just saying that) to watch the music video for Singularity. Singularity is a solo track by BTS’s V. Written by BTS’s RM, and it’s as R&B as you can get. The lyrics are beautiful too. It’s a metaphor about a dream where the ice on a lake is cracking. And you don’t want the ice to crack because under the ice is where you have hidden all the parts of yourself that you don’t want other people to know about. You want to silence the you that is under the surface of that ice, but inevitably spring will come and the ice will melt and everyone will eventually be able to see the real you. Even yourself.
Well you shoul check BTS underated song..... They're very good music with inspirational lyrical... Highly recommend - Tomorrow - Lost - Paradise - Sea - Moving On - Rain - Zero a clock - Blue and grey
The lyrics to many of their pieces are sheer poetry. This is a prime example of that. The dance, scenery, lyrics, music all come together beautifully. I am going to add a little difference in looking at this. When BTS are in white, they are creative in music. In black, they are experiencing no creativity, their first death. They are fighting against it. But, this is part of asking, ‘What’s my thing?’ They no longer know. In this one video, the angel with black wings is the angel of death. It appears. The person at the end has experienced their first death. They are in black. They no longer know what their thing is. A hint of this is the name black swan. A black swan event is an unanticipated catastrophe. One can also say the angel with wings is the black swan event. The end of creativity in music or even musical performance is imminent.
You should react to Dis-ease, which has a really funky vibe. It is mainly written by J-Hope and includes a killer bridge written by Jimin. One of my favorites.
Three rappers RM, Suga aka Agust D, Jhope are great songwriter and producer. My request is Suga aka Agust D Daechwita MV. You will be shocked. 6 years ago I never listened Rap song. I love BTS rap line songs because their lyrics.
Maria C has capture the meaning of this song. It's a part of the concept album. Amazing video, a masterpiece of a song. They do👏🏾 not👏🏾 miss👏🏾. Much appreciate your message too! 💜💜 Another song I request is an ARMY fav.... Paradise. There only a lyric vid.
Thank you 😊. What makes BTS different is their lyrics and what is the motivation behind the lyrics. Their lyrics have many layers and meanings. Glad to see you enjoying their songs.💜
Happy Thursday everybody. Good luck to us cuz we always panic buying at last minute haha 😊 '97 Liner here and can't ever remember an album with more than 1 hit on it. Very rare 2 or 3 but BTS got no skips🔥
I'm enjoying your reactions, looks like this one gave you goosebumps a few times! I like your interpretation of the lyrics, too, though I know you've had the usual essays explaining the meaning behind the song. Oh OK, one request would be Baepsae/Silver Spoon. It's another deep song and it's worth deep diving in to the lyrics and the cultural references. ✌
Black Swan is in a class of its own I feel. Though many of BTSs songs kinda feel like that lol. The dance for this is absolutely beautiful and really tells the story of the song (which others mentioned). Great video! Others mentioned it but with the genre you prefer, Singularity done by V may be right up your alley. Another could be Blood Sweat & Tears (have to check if you have done that one already: edit you have not yet lol) I could recommend a ton of BTS songs but I'm sure ARMY has already given you a long list lol. Can't wait for the next ones you do! Have a great day!
Idk if anyone has told u this but there's several ways to react to these songs. We don't mind long videos at all so u can react to a song more than once in a video. I would like to make a suggestion & u can do this in any order u choose but I prefer it this way: 1st round, vibe to the song & listen to it all the way thru with or without any pauses depending if u have anything to say as u vibe to the song. If it's a mv, vibe & watch the mv. If it's a lyric video, vibe to the song & c who's singing which part. In the same reaction video: 2nd round, go back & react to the lyrics &/or MV cinematography bc not only their songs have deep meaning but their MV have deep meaning to them as well. Armys have a saying that BTS don't do anything in their songs without any reason or meaning behind it. That way u don't miss out on anything. 3rd round, watch a live performance. I personally feel that these types of reaction videos r more genuine than just listening to the song one time thru, giving a couple of comments, & get thru with the video already. I feel that the more quality time a reactor spends on a song is more of a genuine reaction imo 😁
Losing your drive and passion is a scary thing for these guys. I hope that they never get burnt out! Great reactions. Watch some of their early stuff. You can see how diverse they are, and how they have become the best. Please watch "Fire", " We Are Bulletproof ", " Dope", and if you haven't seen Agust D ( Suga) rap please check him out. It is such a awesome thing to watch you discover BTS...... It's a rabbit hole with no way out, and you will not want out cause it's a amazing place. BTS brings it with everything that they do. Black swan is one of my favorites. You should also check them out doing this on one of the late shows.
Thanks for reacting to this -- i think this song and the video is a work of art -- BTS' messages is positive and it makes one reflect -- i love all their tracks and one the songs that's inspires me everyday is the song Love Myself: Answer -- i know you get a lot of suggestions but I think you would like this song- if you do check it out, I love live performance in Japan- til next Thursday, stay safe 💜👍
This song and dance is a masterpiece. I almost wish it came out this year or early next year because now more of the world is really seeing what ARMYs already know. I think we could have gotten it high enough to give it a chance for Grammy now or soon future even with the Korean because of the break through we made with the English ones. I'm so sad that this song and others from that Era weren't able to shine as bright due to the promotions and world tour being canceled. I can't wait to see what BTS does next that's this type so we can show even more people what true artists they are!
Thank you for appreciating their lyrics. That's one of the reasons I like them. I feel like Americans are negative like you said and have become lazy. These guys try so hard to entertain and it shows. One suggestion some reactors will watch the lyric video first and then the music video next, so they're not having to try so hard to do the lyrics and the video at the same time
No not do all. I grew up on all music. Mostly rap and hip-hop. Music has become a sex and drug marketing campaign here in the US. We need more positivity here. Jmo.
Tip: U can always watch the lyric videos first. Then watch the MV and if u are even more interested watch their dance practice. I love their dance practices. I can watch it all day. Thank you 💕 I'm 64 Japanese and my American husband called me crazy BTS grandma 😁. My husband loves BTS too. Because they make me happy.
You’re welcome!!! This is Shelbi, I just might have use your saying (“BTS GRANDMA”). I love it💕. Shelbi (ARMY💜💜💜💜💜💜💜)

This song is about fear of losing inspiration or ability to perform.." a first death" ...As an athlete you can probably relate to that feeling......Pretty soon you will sing along in Korean like the rest of us

Perfection is absolutely right! They are!
Nice reaction. Black Swan is about their fear of losing their passion for music and how it would be their first death.
I love how you keep rubbing your arms because of goosebumps throughout the video haha. Great reaction~
I can’t help it, they get me every time
So glad you did Black Swan. I knew you would love it.
Wow! That is so deep and powerful. Thank you
Black Swan MV is one of my favorite BTS choreography. Contemporary master piece of art.

I am a 47 year old mom from Toronto Canada 🇨🇦 ARMY since 2019. I wish I discovered them sooner. But I’m happy that I did and I get to experience them in this lifetime.

Most of their songs is been written by them
I would just enjoy video then go back for lyric meaning while filming. Alot of reactors are doing that. Just idea.
