I was fishing on the beach this day when you told me to get our your video.. I'm the guy in the Blue jacket shown around 18:35 on the right side of the pier. Being a long time angler here, I advocate for anglers rights also an original Seacliff surfcaster society member and work with anglers into You Tubes and understand the goals you guys are after. Jo Jo or Ed at Capitola boat n bait know me well if you need a reference that I'm not some kook. Other references from locals near your age group, Everet Bowles (Santa Cruz Surfcaster) on You tube, Capitola crew kids Cosgrove, Julian, ETC. I also work with Shimano as a product rep these days plus share special tackle from zoom being a former retired staff member and would appreciate your patience and understanding during the typically very busy summer months here. More anglers means more $$$$$ support to keep the beach and pier going and I know some locals get edgy over the crowds however the money to keep this place going has to come from somewhere, local donations are not enough. Best of luck to you and many tight lines in 2021. thanks for your understanding.
Enjoyed your videos. That was a real good day you had. California surf caster for 60 years so had to ask, how do keep sand out of your reel at that beach?
I think that stingray saw the plight of a young man fishing for greatness, and thus; injected you with the killer juice. All jokes aside. Nice fish stud. Thanks for the view
Yes, Seacliff Pier. You can see the SS Palo Alto at the end of the pier. No need to bee super secret about it bro. Everyone knows about Google Earth now a days.
Its pretty light, not great for horsing fish in but great to play them out and very fun to fight on. If you want to see a big fish on this rod, check out my video "Huge Striped Bass Fishing a Feeding Frenzy"

Good, casts pretty far but ive switched to 20 lb now to get it out further... nothing is really gonna break 20 lb line especially in the surf where you can let it run
@@Areallycleverjoke I’ve caught halibut in Santa Barbara on a 5 inch pink over white fluke with 1/2 oz weight. I used more of a straight retrieve tho. I also caught a calico bass that way. (I was also fishing right at the base of a pier.

LMAO - I'm in NJ....we fish for Summer Flounder which looks almost exactly like a California Halibut. Your first cast fish from the beach is equal to the biggest Summer Flounder I've caught in the past 25 years of fishing for them....and I've caught over a 1000 of them. I wish I could figure out how the hell they grow so much bigger there. It's basically the same damn fish as the California Halibut is not a Halibut at all. The California Halibut is more closely related to a Fluke or Summer Flounder. This is a common misconception among anglers and the general public alike.
Oof, hahaha. To be fair, this was a very lucky first cast 😂 it's not usually like that. California halibut get pretty big, biggest one I saw caught this year was 39 in
@@castncatchem3808 They are called either California Flounder or California Halibut....they are flounder though. These look just like the Flounder we get on the east coast but the eye position is different. These dont look like halibut at all.
