Thank you after 3 years your video has helped my understand the technology of my nikon 600 . I was able to follow your video long yes necessary though thnak you again
Hands down best AF tutorial for the D610 out there. Thank you!
I remember reading the offical user manual when I bought my D600 in the earlies 2010's and forgetting most of it ASAP and not using the camera. Now ith YT videos like yours it's a delight to start again studying and it is so much more efficent and enjoyable to to read a fu*** manual. This was very well done, thank you.
Danke schön, Ralf. Es was ein hervorragendes Tutorial. Das Autofocus ist mir viel klarer jetzt wie bevor.
Thank you so much! Great video! 💪
Big help, thanks so much!!
Just bought a used D610 as an upgrade from my simple D50. The features of the D610 are far beyond the D50. I will watch this video several times and will soon have a far better understanding of the AF modes. Many thanks. You saved me many hours of reading and experimenting. I agree with others the video is not too long. I was surprised at how fast the 40 minutes went by. I also liked the special topic so the subject of the video is "focused" - pun intended.
Thank you, just what I need to learn around our D610 we have had since 2014 ... And first now have taken the time to really get to know! It has given us many nice pictures during the years, but apparently I screw up some settings and gave up finding out more the trial/error way as this around AF has been so confusing! With this video You totally got me on the right page. Thank you and Mojn/ a Dane in Spain 😊
thank you Ralfs! It helps me understand how to choose what to use very clearly.
I just ordered my Nikon D7100, I will be watching a lot of these videos online!! Cant wait
Ralf, very well thought out. I came away with more questions, but a great deal of information. Please continue with the D610 tutorials!
Thanks Ralfs!!! Just subscribed! That was explained so clearly and to be honest in the beginning i thought 40 minutes was too long and I would watch only 10 minutes....I ended up watching it all in one go!!! :D Thanks so much, I have a Nikon D610 and if you make any more tutorials I will be sure to watch them all!
Ralf, you are doing a amazing job! Very didactic and clear. And I don't think your videos are long. Good is what they are! Congrats.
Very good information. I learned a lot by watching this. Keep up the good work Ralf!
This was a great video!! I learned SOSOSOSO much! I love the detail and all the options you showed. Please keep making these detailed learning videos for D7100!!
Thank you Ralph. That was an excellent video and not too long. I think you should continue to produce your videos for as long as you need to get your points across. The menus (D7100) are complex and your presentation technique that is painstaking and thorough cannot be faulted while explaining them.
thanks a lot Mr. Ralph and that's what we need "specific information" I like your way in videos and tutorials, I also liked the way you get into details, you didn't skip a single mode and you know how huge the DSLR menu is and we need some one who has your knowledge .. keep it up and thanks
Good job! Very clear and appreciate you taking your time to share!
Unquestionably useful video! I would definitely like to see more such specialised tutorials for the D7000
My favorite takeaway tip from your video is to take portraits in continuous mode. I have my D600 set for back-button focus, so I'll just have to retrain my thumb to keep pressing on the AE/L-AF/L button until I've snapped the shot. Your tutorial was packed with good information. Much obliged, sir!
Thank you Ralf. Very helpful and educational.
Thank you so much for this Tutorial! Saved my day! I got my new D610, and i was so confused! Thank you, thank you !!!
Great help. Very thorough. I also watch your Fuji (xe1-2). Thank you.
Great job explaining the modes even more impressive, doing this into the camera you were shooting the tutorial with, very difficult to do when everything is reversed! Congratulations on a job very well done!
Hello, Ralf! I would like to thank you for this video and other videos published in your account. They are really very helpful and very different to the rest available. It is very good that you are so detailed, very very structured, and while cover a point/topic you always show it clearly on the camera (button, funcion). And those summary at the end of every videos are just professional from the tutorial perspective. I will follow you here from no on.I only wish you did all videos in English :-)
Absolutely wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Very helpful for a dyslectic person like me,i will fore sure enjoy my new D610 much more, thank you for that :-)
Superb tutorial…. Thanks a million
thanks a lot ralph i love the detailed description ive unfortunately never read the manual of my camera as it was written in german as ive only had a ferw months of basic german learning this beats reading a digital pdf (that ive been postponing for 3 months ) i really enjoyed it !!cant wait to go out shooting tomorrow xd Dankeschön und Grüße aus Frankfurt !!!!!
I didn't think you could spend 40 minutes discussing the AF system settings. I was wrong. Thank you.
Sure you can there's a lot to go over.
This was a REALLY good tutorial! You put the function of AF into the needed context which make easily understand and remember the stuff. After this video I only have two questions relating to the topic, 1. What is AF-F in the liveview mode and 2. How do I move the metering separately from the chosen focus point?
Anyway THANKS!!
Just realised I was unlucky when thinking :) You can not move the metering point (spot or center weight) but you have to use the AE-L/AE-F button lock and reposition the object... As for th AF-F I looked it up in the manual and apparently it basically has the same meaning as the AF-C in mirror phase focus.
Thank You Ralf. We just thought that there was no way to chose autofocus point manually in our new D610
Thank you so much for the AF tutorial. Very helpful.
Very clear, understandable, and well explained.
And no, not too long :-)
Thank you.
U r the best one on youtube, really i like all your videos ... Go on

i learned so much!!!! Thank you - my camera doesn't scare me anymore :)
Finally, a clear explanation.
Excellent!!!!Thank you!! You help me a lot
Bravo. Thank you, Excellent video, The most detail about the Auto focus on the Nikon D600. Now I have a question, what auto focus mode should I use to take videos in general? Thanks again.
You should use manual focus, the autofocus in video mode is very slow.
thanks, i find it is useful
Hope u can have more detail for setting in D610.
Thx again

Hi Ralfs, i have a question for you if you read this i hope you can respond.
so i have the Nikon D7100 and i mostly use it to take picture and videos, so far i know how to do AF in video but i am really annoyed with the sound from video auto focus.. i know that there is only AF-F, AF-S and i know how to use those, but the only problem is the sound. i dont hold my camera when i am filming (its in a tripod) so i really want to get rid of the sound or maybe just reduce it so it wont so obvious. do you know how to do it? i am watching a lot of d7100 autofocus thing but no one ever mention the sound in the video. Thank you in advance and i love all of your videos. i learn a lot :)
*****Ralfs bdw the sound is really loud.
Thank you for this tutorial Ralfs it helped explain a few things to me for my D7100 :) (ps and don't shoot your dog haha) - I would have liked to know more about metering
use nikon d7100 i have a problem with autofocus when i change to AF-C ,AF-S by pressing the left front AF OR M button and turning the command dial is nt displayed on lcd.how can i fix it plz
Thank you, keep it up.
Great review !! Thanks ;)
How do you change the auto focus points? mine are set on 51 and 11. I was studying your video and tried to change the number of focus points but nothing happened. I used the back control wheel.
Is there a way to return to the information display automatically after every shot? I get the image review but then all black screen.
Hi, How bout assist illuminator? did you encounter in Single focus that the focus light illuminator doesnt work? just only in Auto focus... Thanks...
Great! Thanks.
I just switched from a Canon crop, and I'm trying to learn my new D610. Can someone tell me how to set the focus using the shutter half pressed. Right now, I can only focus using the Af-l button on the back.
Thanks!
Thank you
Ralf,
I have obe problem. When I am using auto focus mode the lens keeps on changing continuously does not stop. So I thought may be because I had not set it for release. But when checked it was in release mode but still focussing kept moving. So how can i change this?
Thanks a lot! Now I get it!
super, merci
thank you !
i hear something bad about autofocusing of nikon df in lowlight
can not lock focus in -1EV, hunting focus
it isn't good, don't like D7000 or d600
they was build in same autofocus system
you had one, i am listening your opinion
Thank u
Good video. However, you should NEVER turn on the camera w/o a lens attached. The reason being, whenever the camera is turned on, the sensor becomes energized, which instantly attracts dust to the sensor. When the camera is on, the sensor will PULL dust from the air quite quickly and the dust becomes statically attached to the sensor.
Dave Thompson Whoa! I am so glad you said that, otherwise it would have been a mistake I would have made. So, are you making camera videos?
Det er godt. Tak.
Does anyone know about the “Out-ta focus” he is talking about 🤔
in iso which have less noise 610d or 6d
Tombol mana yang di tekan pada saat ingin mengubah menu af-a
how can i select a mode focus
it is by sony a6400.
is it me or is he to close to the microphone - causing noise to come thru. Otherwise great video.
this guy reminds me of the guy from human centipede
ummmm ummmm ummmmmmmmmmmm ummmmmmmmm
Great comment. Will delete this in 24h ....
maybe autofocus speed its same.aber showing on display is slowly only?😮 because of low cpu.
Thank you...very helpful
thank you
