    I remember reading the offical user manual when I bought my D600 in the earlies 2010's and forgetting most of it ASAP and not using the camera. Now ith YT videos like yours it's a delight to start again studying and it is so much more efficent and enjoyable to to read a fu*** manual. This was very well done, thank you.

    Just bought a used D610 as an upgrade from my simple D50. The features of the D610 are far beyond the D50. I will watch this video several times and will soon have a far better understanding of the AF modes. Many thanks. You saved me many hours of reading and experimenting. I agree with others the video is not too long. I was surprised at how fast the 40 minutes went by. I also liked the special topic so the subject of the video is "focused" - pun intended.

    Thank you, just what I need to learn around our D610 we have had since 2014 ... And first now have taken the time to really get to know! It has given us many nice pictures during the years, but apparently I screw up some settings and gave up finding out more the trial/error way as this around AF has been so confusing! With this video You totally got me on the right page. Thank you and Mojn/ a Dane in Spain 😊

That was explained so clearly and to be honest in the beginning i thought 40 minutes was too long and I would watch only 10 minutes....I ended up watching it all in one go!!! :D Thanks so much, I have a Nikon D610 and if you make any more tutorials I will be sure to watch them all!

    Thank you Ralph. That was an excellent video and not too long. I think you should continue to produce your videos for as long as you need to get your points across. The menus (D7100) are complex and your presentation technique that is painstaking and thorough cannot be faulted while explaining them.

    thanks a lot Mr. Ralph and that's what we need "specific information" I like your way in videos and tutorials, I also liked the way you get into details, you didn't skip a single mode and you know how huge the DSLR menu is and we need some one who has your knowledge .. keep it up and thanks

    My favorite takeaway tip from your video is to take portraits in continuous mode. I have my D600 set for back-button focus, so I'll just have to retrain my thumb to keep pressing on the AE/L-AF/L button until I've snapped the shot. Your tutorial was packed with good information. Much obliged, sir!

    Hello, Ralf! I would like to thank you for this video and other videos published in your account. They are really very helpful and very different to the rest available. It is very good that you are so detailed, very very structured, and while cover a point/topic you always show it clearly on the camera (button, funcion). And those summary at the end of every videos are just professional from the tutorial perspective. I will follow you here from no on.I only wish you did all videos in English :-)

    This was a REALLY good tutorial! You put the function of AF into the needed context which make easily understand and remember the stuff. After this video I only have two questions relating to the topic, 1. What is AF-F in the liveview mode and 2. How do I move the metering separately from the chosen focus point?
    Anyway THANKS!!

    • @perdja
      @perdja 10 лет назад

      Just realised I was unlucky when thinking :) You can not move the metering point (spot or center weight) but you have to use the AE-L/AE-F button lock and reposition the object... As for th AF-F I looked it up in the manual and apparently it basically has the same meaning as the AF-C in mirror phase focus.

    Hi Ralfs, i have a question for you if you read this i hope you can respond.
    so i have the Nikon D7100 and i mostly use it to take picture and videos, so far i know how to do AF in video but i am really annoyed with the sound from video auto focus.. i know that there is only AF-F, AF-S and i know how to use those, but the only problem is the sound. i dont hold my camera when i am filming (its in a tripod) so i really want to get rid of the sound or maybe just reduce it so it wont so obvious. do you know how to do it? i am watching a lot of d7100 autofocus thing but no one ever mention the sound in the video. Thank you in advance and i love all of your videos. i learn a lot :)

    Good video. However, you should NEVER turn on the camera w/o a lens attached. The reason being, whenever the camera is turned on, the sensor becomes energized,which instantly attracts dust to the sensor. When the camera is on, the sensor will PULL dust from the air quite quickly and the dust becomes statically attached to the sensor.
