The Witcher 3 - Boat Races (Restored with REDkit)

- The new Witcher 3 mod restores the original CDPR idea of Boat Races. With the release of REDkit, 100% of the boat race script was found in the game files, which allowed for the restoration process to begin. Only the text and audio files were found, the rest was created from scratch based on CDPR's writing. Which means that all the conversations, characters, notices and journal entries featured in the mod were originally written by CDPR.

Damn this seems exciting! I'm away from home for a few days but when I return I'm downloading it asap!
Great to hear. It was a fun project to work on and uncovering CDPR's original script.
@@mersey1693 Under 50 views for now lol. Of course @xletalis has already seen it.... Hopefully your video gets some more views when he makes his video about the mod!
Btw - a little quirck fact for you next "10 missed things" video - 1. when helping Yoana in Crow's Perch you need to complete the Archgriffin Acid Gland quest (Contract: The Griffin from the Highlands). The quest starts/ends with small chit-chat with the quartermaster. He says that the Baron personally look out for the falks and has issued the contract. The problem with is that you tipically do this quest much later than the death or the departure of the Baron - in each scenario how can the Baron issue the contract. 2. In Toussaint when you deal with the "Till death do you part" quest in the end if you side with the wife of Louis you get a chance to dig up two "unique" gwent cards - in every quest tutorial/description the cards are described as only once retrievable, well quite a disappointment when you discover that they are a bruxa and a Barclay Els card (both can be obtained at other places).

@@mersey1693 hi Mersey! Any plan on making a classic version or is it a pain in the a** ? 🙏 Thx anyways!
Emphyr: Geralt you must find ciri ! The world will end otherwise !
Geralt:
- Geralt, did you find my daughter?
- No, but look at the deck of Gwent cards I've collected
That's a thing is pretty much all RPGs. Gotta solve everyone's personal problem before you save the world.
Gordon: Batman! You must save Gotham from Scarecrow and his army!
Batman with Riddler challenges and side missions:
Admiral Anderson: Commander Shepard, you must save the galaxy from Reapers!
Commander Shepard doin side missions:
@@SeriousDragonify "Shepard, the galaxy stands in mortal peril! Thousands died just yesterday when these three planets fell. What were you doing?"
"I am Commander Shepard, and this is my favourite debriefing on the Citadel."
"Oh no."
the great Navigator, Geraldo de Riviera!
THIS IS AWESOME! I always wanted to enjoy sailing with some more purpose in this game but alas there was only the skellige sea looting.
The only thing left to figure out is how to win these races! No matter how hard you try, the opponent's boat is still first, and given that the boats are moving at the same speed, you can't overtake them 😁
The opponent's speed throughout the track is custom-tailored so you could win, like you see in this video. They tend to slow down in some corners. Also, make sure you use fast boat speed (LShift by default or double tap and hold A on controller). Also, don't press directional buttons while Geralt is sitting down in the boat (there is a vanilla Witcher 3 bug, that will disable fast boat speed if you click the buttons while sitting down).
Very cool, awesome you managed to get the original script too!
Outstanding work you have accomplished here. My respect to it.
It's interesting the remnants of this content were in the game. It was always very obvious to me that CDPR originally planned for NPCs to be able to sail around in the water in both big and little ships (think Assassin's Creed), but that it was cut. It just doesn't make sense to add a set of islands that rely mostly on fishing to a game and then not have NPCs able to go in the water.
Really good job with the mod, but I can see why they were cut out... it looks boring and not really that intuitive... which is not your fault, there is just not much you can do with boats in this game.
The normal horse races in the base game are boring enough already lol. There aren't any real mechanics to add actual tension to these races
Great mod!
Well done my friend good job
Fun fact: Geralt actually attended some lectures in Oxenfurt as part of his witcher training. Would have been a fun reference
The idea it's as easy to enter Oxenfurt university as this quest makes out is crazy
Looks nice, I will try it out. Will you be making other mods using REDkit?
Yeah, probably.
This is better than the actual horse races 😂
Thx for new content. Gratz for winning, although you have weak technique :/
I wish this would be put into the game on the Switch platform
A mod for sailing big ships

I'm glad you're playing in original version.
The "Enhanced" version is awful.
رائع
Great Mod!!!
I feel bad for console players. :/
I play on PC but I don't accept mods, it's as if I started adapting a book or movie to my liking, I want to experience the game as a specific creator's diesel with its advantages and disadvantages
@@Diego-rt2ot why not just have a separate install for modding.. the game can look and feel so much better with mods
mods is optional tho no one is forcing to use them, and using them doesn't disrespect the devs@@Diego-rt2ot
