- What an incredible way to kick off our Toney Reyes trip!
Keep in mind, all of the fishing action seen in this video was within the first 45 minutes of fishing this trip!
Started our journey meeting up with everyone at Performance Tackle in Los Alamitos, and after about a 8 hour drive with a few stops, we arrived in San Felipe to start our trip down the Sea of Cortez! Spent the first night at a hotel, then hopped on the Tony Reyes mother ship first thing the following morning.
Drove all the way through the night and woke up at our first destination, which was just a breath taking first glance! After a quick breakfast, we were on the pangas and 5th cast into the trip, CHAOS BREAKS LOOSE!
More episodes to come weekly, and this is just a little taste of what's to come!

All of the fishing action in this video was within the first 45 minutes of our first morning of fishing! Can’t wait to share the rest of this adventure with you all!
FYI Daiwa Lexa 400 and that heavy rod is NOT bass gear
@@bondonutz1 if it qualifies as a swimbait setup, it’s considered bass gear imo.
This is the same set up I use for casting 3 to +5oz swimbaits for largemouth and striper
Tony Reyes Cabrilla fishing is top level!!! Bigger and meaner than calicos.
So much bigger and meaner than calicos!
Even though everyone calls them “calicos on steroids”, you might target them like calicos, but they still fight like a grouper haha
I thought it was really cool to see not only the pongas on the boat but all the outboards neatly stacked in the back. I really enjoyed watching this video, you're editing was super well and I was engaged the entire way through. 🔥
Really stoked to hear that, thank you man! When I go on these bigger trips, even multi days on sport boats I always try to do my best to capture the full experience.
So I really appreciate that a lot, thank you brotha!👊
Thats awesome!!!
Thanks brotha! Such fun fishing out there!
can't wait for part 2!!
Part 2 is already edited, but just gonna wait till next week to post. But Ep 2 is so good! A lot of bigger grade fish and double ups in Pt 2!
I have done this trip with my brother and it was a blast. I would do it again for sure.
This was my first time experiencing the Tony Reyes trip, and I would 100% do it again for sure! Affordable, great food, and insane fishing! Can’t beat it!
One of my dream trips!! sick vid!!
Thanks man, and I highly recommend! Very affordable as far as multi day fishing trips go!
Great video brother , so much fun just watching you guys catch non stop!! Hey how is the cost for a week on the Tony Reyes ? Million Likes man and thanks for sharing!!
I appreciate that brotha, thank you!
And a week aboard the Tony Reyes can range anywhere from $1,300 - $1800 depending on how many anglers and what time of year you go.
But that will include Fishing, 3 meals a day, all drinks (soda, water, and beer). Only extra cash you’ll need is for tips for chefs and crew
Exciting episode RayRay 🤙🏻
Thanks G! Episode 2 drops in just acouple hours! Waaayy more action in this one, and some nice size ones too!
Man I wish we had cabrilla in so cal
Right! If our water was warmer, they would do so well on our coast! So much good structure for them out here
Big fan bro I’ve been watching you for a couple years now and Ik you work for Phenix and they make sick rods but would you recommend the M1 inshore for like a semi bay and off shore rod a 15-35lb 7’11
That’ll work just fine. I use my m1 inshore rod when I’m offshore here and there for the fun factor
@@Alex88156 thanks man 😎
@@giovanny6888 really appreciate the continued support man, thank you! And I agree with Alex, I’ve used my 15-35 lb m1 for smaller grade yellowfin tuna, and will still use it in the bay to chuck bigger baits for spotties lol.
Just know when you’re using it offshore, what you’re getting yourself into! It’s not gonna be as easy of pulling power as heavier rods with conventional gear, so it’s more challenging.
Awesome trip! What month was this?
Such a blast of a trip! Check out the whole playlist with all the episodes “Tony Reyes”.
This was in November of 2022, and hopefully soon I’ll be able to start putting together the November 2023 trip
Please put in the description the dates you fished and total cost of the voyage.
Would really appreciate that for this and future videos.
I’ll try to keep that in mind for future videos! This whole cabrilla series is from November of 2022.
And cost of trip is anywhere from $1400 - $1800 depending on how many people and what time of year you go
@@Dirty.Hookers -- Okay so that's not too bad for a 5 day long mothership trip
@@jake9705 yeah not at all. Very affordable for sure.
3 meals a day, all the drinks you want (beer, soda, water), fishing, and fish filleted all included in the price!
Just gotta bring a little extra cash for tips and that’s it
13:33 -- Is that a YoZuri lure with weak factory hooks?
Never had much luck with those lures... YoZuri's and Rapallas always seem to tangle themselves when I cast.
Hey sorry just seeing this, yeah they were the stock hooks. Yo-zuri hydro minnow stock hooks are actually really durable and very capable of most fish.
All it takes though is for a fish to be hooked wrong for even the strongest hook to fail.
What rod and reel set ups were you using?
My cabrilla rod was a 7’9”H Phenix M1 inshore.
I’m gonna come out with a follow up rod and reel video as well! Video would’ve been way too long if I had covered everything in this video too
Nice videos. I've been on 5 of these trips so far, and doing another at the end of this month. This will be my 2 boys first trip down there. As awesome as the videos are, there's just no way to capture how amazing it is. I stumbled onto the Cabrilla/rip bait bite several years ago, and it absolutely loads the fish box up. To the point some guys got upset, and our Panguero pulled us off of the Cabrilla. It was ok though, we just went and fished for BSB and big Grouper. What hotel did you guys stay at? Were trying out Las Palmas this time. We always stayed at Hacienda Rojo Langasta, but their reservation policy changed, and they will only confirm our room after a bank to bank wire transfer. I didn't feel comfortable doing that, plus the cost didn't sit well with me.
That’s awesome man, your boys are gonna have an absolute blast! I try to do what I can to capture everything, but you’re right. The cameras just don’t do it justice!
Yeah I would’ve really liked to be able to release a lot more of them, but the captain wanted everything unfortunately. I could really care less about filling the box.
As for hotel, we only stayed in a hotel night before departure but can’t remember what it was called. The Tony Reyes trip is all on the water aboard the “Tony Reyes” mothership.
Watch Episode 1 to get a better idea of what it’s like!
Did someone say Spottys?
Oh just wait! Day 3 I think it was, I catch a like 16” - 17” spotty with the floating Hydro minnow 170 in like 40 feet of water!
