Ive had a toothbrush for three years and it started making weird noises, and I didn't have warranty anymore. You saved me a lot of money since I bought it for €75. It was literally the first screw you pointed out, and the magnet was against the coil. Thanks. You're a hero!
Thanks!
I found this out by research, so I'm not the true hero! lol
Thanks for watching, your support is appreciated!
This worked on a Philips Sonicare Diamondclean. The magnet was right up against the motor. I undid the second screw and prised the magnet off before tightening the screw up leaving a gap, and the toothbrush is fixed! Thank you!
That's great, thanks for stopping by!
Thanks for a great video that showed me how to fix my toothbrush! To remove the inner works, I just tightened a clamp as illustrated and then pushed the steel stem on the opposite end against a hard surface, and the whole inner component popped loose and out.
That's great! one extra thing I want to mention that in the description, if you handled the rubber top too much, you may wipe away some of it sealing ability. You may want to make sure that it does have some type of oil or Vaseline so that it creates a tight seal at the top.
The most useful video I ever seen. I repaired my wife' toothbrush and safe a lot of money! Thank you very much.
Glad it helped!
@@m3rdpwr You are Super Mario :) Thx for your help. I repaired the same as you :) It works.
Awesome!
Mario - you saved me $400. I had four toothbrush that had this same issue. I could fix all of those. I had problem taking out the motor assembly for the first one. I had to pull it hard and I could take it out. Thanks for your video and I have become a subscriber.
Great, and thank you! one extra tip, make sure there is some sort of sealer lubricant on the rubber tip that passes through the body. If not you could get moisture inside the toothbrush.
Thanks for the vid man! Really helped me out. Regarding the spacing. I would imagine small as possible would be best, as long as they aren't touching. Magnetic drop off being 1/r^2 and all.
For everyone else looking for tips, quickest fix, after disassembly, is to loosen the two screws around the electromagnet, pry it away from the neodymium mag with a really small flathead or like a paring knife, then screw the screws back in lightly. Then you can remove the knife/flathead and tighten better. It'll still sound loud at first, so reassemble before checking if you did a good job. Thanks again, and good luck to everyone else!
Mario, thank you for posting this. I have a more recent version of the toothbrush and had the exact same problem. You saved me 200$. One thing I noticed is that when the magnet shifted, the brush pressure warning light stopped working. Might be helpful for people trying to diagnose.
I didn't have any warning lights on mine. Perhaps it's just the newer model?
@@m3rdpwr the newer DiamondClean units have a different plug at the base. More challenging to remove. It also has a clear ring that lights up. When you press too hard when brushing, the handle pulses three times and purple LEDs flash through the base. It may be that the internals flex enough to change the distance between the coil and magnet causing a measurable change in induction.
@@rxchrist that makes sense. I know people who treat the diamond clean like a regular toothbrush with more pressure. Doing that, causes the head of the unit to come loose via the two screws that hold it in place.
Many thanks. Mine was slightly different in that there was another piece of printed circuit attached to both the upper and lower parts. It still just came apart and I was able to loosen both screws and adjust. Without your assistance I would have been at it until Christmas
That's great, glad it worked!
Mario, this is exactly my problem. No vibration when pushed on from the front (brush) side. Going to try this "repair" tonight. Thanks for the vid. Just the thing I was looking for!
That's great, let us know how it goes. Remember not to tighten the base too much with the clamp. Also, you may want to wipe the metal contacts before reassembling if you touched then with your hand. Qtip and isopropyl alcohol is a good choice.
Aaaand much better now. Magnet space was totally clamped tight. Got it separated a bit, tightened the screws and voila. Your vid was spot on! Thanks!
Awesome!
Thank you!! FIxed mine. Mine also would not charge. I washed it with 99% iso alcohol and now it's fine after drying. Water gets in when they get old and fouls connections/
Nice!
Thanks for making this!
Curious as o why do people spend hundreds of dollars on Phillips products that are so cheaply made? Oral-Bs are way better built and cost half as much.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Yes, overpriced, especially the brush heads. I often buy 3rd party brush heads.
Thanks for the help! I was able to get my toothbrush working again!
That's great! Was yours wet inside? Mine was. I may be have put some lube/Vaseline on the rubber top to help seal it. That means taking it apart again.
Awesome video! Just fixed mine. Thank you Mario!!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
much appreciate this effort my wife toothbrush is working again save 40$ thanks
Awesome!
worked great.. thanks so much.. ! Diamondclean lives again!
Awesome!
Great video. I'm going to try and fix mine right now. Thanks.
Just be gentle with that clamp.
Also, I added a note above later.
Be sure you don't wipe the sealing grease from the rubber top to the plastic casing.
That prevents water seepage.
If you do wipe it off accidentally, some sort of light oil or maybe even Vaseline should be okay.
Great video, I took mine apart, going to test battery and more. Hope, I get it working soon.
Just tried this today on my Toof brush today and worked like a charm just Be mindfull that the red wires get stretched a little bit when you remove the circuit board you dont have to pull it down and away you slide it all the way up till it bottoms out then it comes out super easy but you have to remove the bottom preload spring thingy, anyways i did this and one of the red wires was touching the metal gray part and was causing a minor Short Toof Brush wouldnt stay on so make sure red wires are not touching anything metal esides the part where it is sauder'd Thanks for the vid i wouldn't a thunk it on ma own.
Thanks for sharing!
That worked for me. You just saved me $$.
Glad it helped!
Yes that's it exactly!
By any chance do you know how to fix a damaged shift? It comes out easily and I am not sure if it is broken or loosened. Thank you. I appreciate any advice.
If you are referring to the shaft that protrudes out the top, yes. Same procedure, bit there is a screwdriver on top to tighten. As long as it isn't broken, should work. You may need to reseal the rubber ring, so water doesn't leak in.
@@m3rdpwr Great help! Thank u so much.
It should have it, mine has a screw at the top. But I think all of these Phillip are pretty much designed the same way inside.
Is it for sale?
The one I have is a diamond clean.
Nice fix Mario, man thats an expensive tooth brush lol.
I figure it's my only set of teeth.
It's worth the few extra million. lol
Happy New Year Buddy!
Cool.
Thank You!
You're welcome! Thanks for stopping by!.
Too cool and too simple. Using a credit card to re-gap the coil magnet made both my toothbrushes work much better. At first, I thought only one toothbrush was broke. After adding the slight air gap, it worked much better even than the one I thought was still working. So I gaped the "working" one too and now it works much better as well - much more intense!
Awesome, thanks for letting me know, and thanks for watching!
If you had moved that pad to the left about 3" during part of your video, we could have seen what you were working on.
Yeah, $#!+ happens sometimes. It was a quick video during my lunch break. Thanks for watching and your feedback!
You need to get a new brush. That one is pretty worn out. (I know that has nothing to do with fixing the toothbrush...)
I replaced it. I have several new ones on hand.
The big question is, did you win??
Hahahah!
I wanted to post something in the video about it, but everyone loves a mystery!
Yes, $10. lol
Hahaha, Great Job Mario,,, Yes, Thats to much cash to throw away.. You need that for a new Gadget in the Kitchen ....
I ran out of space. LoL I packed away two Air Fryers yesterday, to make room. 3 AFO'S, 4 Air Fryers, a pressure cooker, show cooker, are too much. I only have these teeth, I'm happy to didn't the money if it extends their stay. LoL
That's not the DiamondClean, and the process for opening them is slightly different. I have both.
Interesting, it says it right on there
