Good to see you put to test a couple of ways of weathering track. I'm personally not a fan of airbrush weathering track, the overall effect can look a little "dusty" and the paint only covers the surface.
The advantage with using a diluted paint mix is it'll soak down through the ballast which is what happens in real life with dirt. It's just getting that paint to water ratio mix just right makes or breaks that method. It's also key to not over apply the paint, instead just apply 4/5 coats over a period of a few days.
Nevertheless you've got some cracking tones going on there.
A dry bush of gloss varnish dragged over the middle of the sleepers where you've got areas of black will further enhance it.

Great work with the ballast weathering it looks great.
I did mine with cheap Black Acrylic paint from 'The 'Works' craft shop, the paint was watered down and applied with a paint brush, because of the size of the area I thought it would be quicker to do it this way rather than having to keep reloading an airbrush and then having to clean it out at the end. Keep up the excellent work.
I am looking forward to your next video.

    Hi
I've been looking at my ballast for a few weeks now and wondering what method to use.
I think I will ballast my test track and try out the colours you've used, they look great. The effect I want is mostly much lighter.
    Thanks Paul
