Ya just took my heart when I saw you had Jah wrapped up in a towel and rubbing him dry. Anyone who loves their dog as much as you do, has my heart. Of course I knew the story of Helen Keller and the movie was wonderful, but this tour is so much more! It is so great that most of this place is original. Seeing the pump, the houses, everything, even the room where the food fight happened, was awesome! Thank you Jordan!
A GREAT story on Helen Keller but god bless Ann for all the patience she had. Who knows what would of happened to Helen. And excellent tour experience!!
This is such a inspiring story about how to not give up on your dreams helen keller was a beautiful woman and she didn't allow anyone to bring her down with her disability. RIP Anna and helen
I remember when I first saw the movie of Helen Keller. You can't believe that somebody can overcome such adversity but she did. The other heroes in the story are in Anne of course and their secretary who we're with throughout her life. It was a joy and pleasure to see where her story started. So awe-inspiring that I have watched it twice so far. Thank you for vloging this. She was truly a miracle and inspiration.
Loved the interaction of Jordan and the knowledgeable tour guide of Ivy Green! As a native Alabamian, I am so very proud of the legacy of Helen Keller.
I have always loved autobiographies since I was a little girl. I'd frequent the library. I remember reading Helen Keller's books. What a wonderful vlog today Jordan!
This is a fabulous vlog about two truly great women. I've visited the National Cathedral several times and seen the plaque marking the chapel where Helen and Anne are interred. I've always imagined her house as looking just like the house in the Bancroft/Duke movie. And I imagined the little house as being way out in the woods!. This was absolutely great and I thank you so much for sharing it with us!
Jordan, thank you so much for this video! I realize it has been up for 3 years, but I just found it last night! 🙂 Helen Keller is one of my all time favorite people, and I can't even tell you how many books I checked out at the library on Helen when I was in elementary and middle school, and how many times I did book reports and papers on her in the various grades in school! I absolutely was, and am still, fascinated by Helen's life. She is truly a miracle! I also checked out tons of books on Anne Sullivan and Laura Bridgman. This was back in the 70's when I was growing up, and I found it so amazing to read about these people, who in my mind and heart are our true heroes! ❤ I have always wanted to visit Helen's home in Tuscumbia, and hopefully will be able to travel there from Tennessee one day! I'm now 63 and still work full time in the school system, so maybe one day I will get down there! Thank you so much for this video, and your tour guide was truly amazing and informative! Definitely a place I want to eventually see in person! Keep these wonderful historic videos coming please! Thank you again for your awesome work! ❤❤❤
A Japanese Helen Keller truly respected and called him“my teacher.” In 1937, Helen Keller came to Japan and visited Hokiichi's memorial house. She expressed her impression as follows: “When I was a child, my mother told me that Mr. Hanawa should be my role model. To visit this place and touch his statue was the most significant event during this trip to Japan. The worn desk and the statue facing down earned more respect of him. ” Hokiichi became blind when he was 5 years old. One summer night, a wife of a Samurai, read a book for Hokiichi. She found that he had tied up his hands together. Asked why he did so, Hokiichi replied, “Whenever I move my hand to get mosquitoes away, I tend to miss words of your reading. So as not to do that, I did this.”. He always studied with an attitude like this.
Anazing Vlog about an amazing woman! As a disabled person, I don't think I would have done so many things without her story as an inspiration. Great job, Jordan!
I saw the black and white film, about her life , back in the 80's and was so moved by it.. The statue of Helen and Ann, reminds me of the part in the film. When Helen says "Water" for the first time, l cried buckets. Thank you for such a wonderful vlog. Really made my day. 🙂
I’m so happy right now! One of my favourite things in life is a museum tour and this didn’t disappoint! It’s unbelievable that everything is in such amazing condition. The tour guide was fantastic and I enjoyed how all of her stories flowed along with the furniture, photos, clothes and all of the other wonderful things in the home. How you filmed this was like I was there too and that goes along with why you’re the best!
I like the lady who gave you the tour. She was very nice and she knew a lot. The best tours are given by people like her who love their job. Good video jordan !
What a wonderful surprise seeing the title of this vlog....I always wanted to visit Tuscumbia and Helen Keller has always been a heroine of mine. Thank you!
I have never heard of Helen Keller, what a inspiring duo Annie and Helen made, I get the feeling that Annie was a very special young lady, Helen obviously intelligent just wanted to learn, fantastic story. Lovely property, Very interesting vlog, thanks
great house , and the story, i live not far ,30min from the Alexander bell homestead museum i never knew they known each other , this museum looks great and kept well
Wow ,it's great to see a video on my hometown wish I knew you were coming ,Tuscumbia has great history good and bad, also the "Trail of Tears" come right through Tuscumbia
This is an outstanding vlog. The movie The Miracle Worker with Ann Bancroft and Patty Duke was great. I believe I watched it 3 times. The movie was exactly how your tour guide explained it.Jordan if you haven't seen it I would recommend it and there's a couple of rare videos on you tube of an interview with Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan that's worth watching... Hugs and Peace to you... Nada
Superb absolutely superb vlog. I started to tear up when you first showed the pump as I recalled the scene from the movie with Patti Duke. Thank you Jordan for showing us things that many of us can’t go see. Looking forward to your mom vlogs.
The detached kitchen makes sense, as most homes of wealthy people were built that way. They didn't have air conditioning, so having a detached kitchen made the rest of the house stay cooler.
I remember reading her obituary in the paper. Still cry at the end of the movie when she finally learns the word water. Annie Sullivan was a real trouper just persistent to open up Helen's mind to language. Amazing women, both of them.😊❤
JORDAN!!!!! THANK YOU FOR THIS VLOG! Two of the greatest women to walk the earth are Helen and Anne. Of course Polly was wonderful as well. I have actual tears that you brought this to us.
Omg! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!! I gasped when I saw the title of this video! Then I started crying because Helen Keller has been a heroine of mine since I was in grade school, and I'm old now. I love that you went there so much and the way you spoke about her means so much to me. I've never gotten to go to her home, so that was incredible to get to see the pump and her clothes, etc. I'm actually so emotional right now that I can't think, but I wanted you to know just how much this meant to me and I'm sure many, many other people. Thank you Jordan
NO WAY! Alright, Jordan. You had me really wondering about what you were going to post today and I'M THRILLED. I had to comment now before I even watch it, because I"m already blown away that you're doing a long 39 minute vlog on this. EXCELLENT! Now to watch your great morning wake up call!
SUCH an inspiration. How many souls would have the strength to not only NOT feel sorry for themselves, but far achieve what so many of us never will? Amazing human being. Thanks for the uplift.
Morning coffee w/Jordan on the East coast - very cool they let Steven Tyler play the piano during his visit. JORDAN I LOVE the PASSION in every vlog you do! 👍❤️ I was young but remember how BIG the news of Helen's death was. KISSES for JAH - so sweet you toweling him off after the rain. GREAT LIVE vlogs, too! Thank YOUUU!!!!👍❤️
Another bucket list place. My mother’s from Alabama and I’ve been there many times, but never to this place. Need to change that. Thanks for another great vlog
Talk of the resiliency of the human spirit and the positive personal transformation that can come out of personal lived experience when faced with adversity. Helen's and Ann's is of an epic scale!! Truly inspirational. Lovely Home too!! Just love the whole lay out including the guest house and cooks cabin/living quarters!! The museum is an American treasure for sure!! Thank u Jordan!
Thanks for being our modern day Mark Twain in telling a story of such a fine brave trailblazer woman like Helen Keller. Ann Sullivan was also an amazing, caring and committed teacher and friend to Helen as well. I also liked the point where you mentioned that Mark Twain was the one who called Ann Sullivan a miracle worker. Your lucky dog Jahster got to soak it all in too❣️Thanks for sharing & caring. 🙏🏻
Helen Keller has always been one of my 2 life heros. I absolutely loved this vlog. What a wonderful treat seeing the actual iconic well pump and her childhood home and grounds. This is an incredible opportunity to realize the seemingly impossible odds she overcame. This vlog makes her life so relatable. I’m sure it will be used in many classrooms. Always the best Jordan! What an outstanding vlog. Thank you!
Hey JTL! Long time viewer and recent subscriber I am 😂 so glad to see you on on the side of the states. Blew me away when I watched your Space and Rocket Center vlog. I’m about 45 minutes from there. We have some beautiful sites here in Alabama and some gorgeous “natural” attractions. It is raining a lot this week off and on. I would recommend visiting the beaches here before you go back. My family lives in California and they come home and always want to go to the beach. Anyway hope your visit is awesome and welcome to the Roll Tide/YellowHammer State 😁
This has been my favorite vlog so far, and there have been so many great ones! There is ton of history & information in it, not just from the tour leader, but from yourself. When it started you gave out some great info. Thanks, Jordan for all the work you put into your vlogging for us. We sure appreciate it!!! 👍❤️🇺🇸
What an amazing video you made about Helen Keller. Thank you, Jordan for showing this and letting people know about our great state of Alabama!!!! Next time you come through here you should stop by my hometown of Cullman. Great German heritage in this town and we have our own great piece of history here. The Ave Maria Grotto, located on the grounds of St. Bernard Abbe, is monuments of different cities and scenes of the Bible all built by one monk out of everyday tools or bottles or jars used everyday. I believe you would really enjoy it. Thank you, again for showcasing our great state.
Jordan this is the most touching story in my life . Perkins Institute is 15 Minutes from my house. I’m very touched by this Vlog . So breaks my heart ❤️ then to see or hear how very intelligent Helen was blows me away.
Great blog nice to see you have a lot rain as we have in Ireland this summer Helen a lovely woman nice to hear about her life give that sweet dog a big kiss from me thanks for all your great vlogs love Marie Dublin
This is wonderful. Thanks for posting. Great story, Helen was anti-war and a true liberal. Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke created two of the most brilliant performances in stage and film history. Everyone should see “The Miracle Worker.”
What a inspiring vlog. I can only imagine how different Helen Keller's life would have been if not for Annie Sullivan. The home is beautiful and so well maintained. I especially noticed the blue rug in the living room
Thank you for sharing all of this history! Helen Keller and Ann Sullivan were special people, they showed us to never give up. I went to her home in CT 2 years ago, she lived in Easton, CT right before she went back to be with Ann. My friend and I stood in front of the home (it is a private home now). I noticed the number of the house on the rock wall, and I went up to it and it was in braille. I put my hand on it and I got goosebumps. A man that owned a little store there, had a bust of her, Helen gave it to his father. I couldn't stop looking at it. RIP Helen Keller and Ann Sullivan, you are both remembered.
Okay, now I've watched this and IT'S TOTALLY AMAZING, Jordan! I've known about Helen and seen the movie, but THIS BRINGS IT ALL HOME! What an inspirational woman she was, and you have just shown us a truly great vlog, for which I thank you so much.
Great vlog on one of histories most iconic figures. Helen was a pioneer of deaf and blind people. My best friends brother was born blind and thanks to Helen and Annie he leads a perfectly normal life. So glad you did this Jordan. Thanks a lot.
Helen Keller Is such a inspirational person, that overcame so many opticals. And Ann to give her whole life to help Helen was a absolute saint.Jordan you are so right, it is beautiful that nothing has changed on the family homestead.Another beautiful video Jordan,God bless

Wonderful vlog Jordan thank you 🙏 god bless you what a beautiful and amazing story of Helen Keller wow tell Jah I said hello 👋 I’m one of your biggest fans I enjoy your vlogs have a wonderful and blessed night.
Wow Jordan! You said this one was special and you were not wrong! The Miracle Worker movie with Patty Duke and Anne Bancroft made such an impression on me as a kid, I never forgot it, it was the first time I had ever seen Patty Duke. This was such an inspiring story. This place is just amazing! And knowing this is the true life story of amazing women makes it even better! Such a beautiful home! As much as I love to hear southern accents, this sweet tour guide still talked too fast for me so I will have to watch it again! I just love this story. It taught me any obstacle can be overcome. As I was told long ago, if there is a will, there is a way. Bless your heart Jordan for bringing us here and showing us this. Thank you.
Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan are two of the most amazing women in history. Thank you for taking us on the tour of Ivy Green.
Ya just took my heart when I saw you had Jah wrapped up in a towel and rubbing him dry. Anyone who loves their dog as much as you do, has my heart. A GREAT story on Helen Keller but god bless Ann for all the patience she had. Who knows what would of happened to Helen. And excellent tour experience!!
The doors would not be open and we probably wouldn’t have the disability act that we have today for us handicapped people.
This is such a inspiring story about how to not give up on your dreams helen keller was a beautiful woman and she didn't allow anyone to bring her down with her disability. RIP Anna and helen

Helen Keller is my 5th cousin on my grandmother’s side. She is buried under the Washington National Cathedral, with Ann Sullivan.
A Japanese Helen Keller truly respected and called him“my teacher.”

We take so many things for granted in life. I just love Helen Keller
She was a brave, smart girl. But if not for Anne's discipline - it wouldn't have been. Great vlog. Thanks again Jordan for taking us there.
Bingo

Thank you.
I went there when I was in the fourth grade on a field trip, I am now 61 years old. And from Alabama.😊
