  • After watching a Dave Cam video, I wanted to try a start from the pit race to grind out some SR. Went pretty well! Of course, a video that I don't record my POV, it goes pretty smooth hah!
This was just a race I recorded off stream, just for youuuu!

Also, I'll say the same thing I say to everyone trying the pits. NEVER DO THAT.
It looks safer at first glance, but most of the time you'll end up in trouble, for one simple reason : all less skilled drivers than you will be in front. Which means that all wrecks, off tracks, rejoins etc... will happen right before your eyes. Sometimes you'll get lucky and go through that cleanly, most of the time someone will do something random right into your face. So better to keep all that mess behind you. Another reason is that for other drivers you will catch up because you're faster won't have the same driving standards and habits than you (otherwise you wouldn't catch up), so they can be unpredictable regarding their braking points, lines, or defensive moves, and that's also some troublemaking stuff.
On top of all of that, that'll murder your iRating as you'll never finish as high as if you got on the grid, keeping yourself from racing in better lobbies and you won't practice racing other drivers not using valuable time behind the wheel to learn to deal with pressure and all the stuff coming with it. So that strategy is a loss-loss scenario on the long term.

I looked up at the results, and based on your pace, if you gridded, you would have finished P4-P5. You would have probably been battling with other drivers, more than what you did here, but by doing it wisely you wouldn't have lost more time or SR compared to your actual race, and even gain 10-15 more iRating (rough estimation).

Just for yourself, it's pronounced o-KA-yama, and not o-KEY-yama 😉
