I heard his song heading south ages ago and was like damn this is real country. Gritty, rough and just makes you feel like you're out in the wilderness around a fire. It's crazy how much he's blown up
Zach reminds me so much of my dad omg. Maybe it’s a military thing bc my dad was also in for years, but the way they tell and have so many stories is like the exact same! Going from the main part of it, then trailing off into smaller parts that tie in with the main one, then just completely forgetting what the main part even was. My dad can literally tell a story about his different endeavors in the air force for over an hour 😭 I love Zach’s music already, but this video makes me love and appreciate him so much more, just seeing him tell us how everything happened so crazily for him, and being so humble about everything❤️
@@MyriamBernard13 I never knew it had a name! I really meant that it’s gotta be a military thing how they have so many interesting stories about it, like almost everyday seems like a movie. Like everyone in the military comes out with a never ending book of memories!

What a guy. He’s so genuine and down to earth you can hear it in his lyrics . Not been listening to him for too long but sure glad I found him and his music. It’s the real deal 💪🏻 Something In The Orange touches your soul. Love it
Between him and Luke Combs… you can tell why we love county music. These guys don’t want to speak higher than others. They clearly are raised to be humble and you can tell a genuine appreciation for their position. I almost want them to be more “confident”, but even saying “what I want” is the most ludicrous thing to type on a comment. Through them not being “braggadocio” they make great music
Luke Combs is an amazing artist & would have been known with or without Upchurch. However he did do Upchurch wrong, after Upchurch helped him. The way they both handled the situation made me respect Upchurch more, and Luke less. I'm a team Benjamin Todd from (LDSB). His music & his personal story & triumph have changed my life. He has done what hundreds of therapists & thousands of dollars couldn't do. Then music like Zachs just helps me continue to fight for me & feel again.
Same, but I have to add some Benjamin Todd (LDSB) "using again" broke me but woke me at the same time, "I will rise" made me fight for me. Also, Arlo Mckinney, his t-shirts don't say "Arlo made me cry" for no reason. Although that shirt did make me laugh seeing a 6'5 solid muscle biker guy wearing it. These new artists that are not marching to big labels beat have connected me to music again. Make you feel things you don't realize you need to feel it to move on and be better.
Joe is the BEST interviewer! He makes the conversation so easy for everyone he talks to. Thank you Joe and thank you Zach for the beautiful song writing!!
This kid is living the life I planned before I met my wife in High school Chemistry. I’m glad I chose my path, but I will live vicariously through this dude!
Never heard of this guy (I don't listen to any new music). But seems like a solid, down-to-earth dude. Hope he keeps his morals and ethics in place. He was certainly raised by an upstanding unit.
I didn't listen to any new music either. Untill I discovered all these internet artists that refuse to sign with big labels! They are blowing up without being played on the radio. True blue artist, pouring their soul out in their art, and not selling it to a huge label. You feel connected to them & part of it. It's like a music revolution that most are unaware of, but once you go down that rabbit hole, you'll NEVER listen to a radiostation again. Big music companies are finally losing control of what we listen to and losing $ they've been stealing from artist for generations. It's music war & the underdogs are winning. It's a beautiful thing to be part of.

I found this guy in 2018 and became his biggest fan. Getting to know his navy backstory makes sense. We’ve both done multiple tours in Africa and Djibouti and enjoyed it for the same reason. I was in the Navy at the same time as him. Saw him perform on base in summer of 2019. Pensacola, FL. Before he was super famous and before he was touring. In 2019 he was still in the navy. The schoolhouse just said "heres this country artist, no one knows him but hes an AO, everybody will like him." Crazy how a music career takes off. When it blows up, it really blows up. Im proud to say I have such a unique connection with someone famous that changed my life.
good to see my boy made it. been listening to his music for almost 2 years everyday.
My son just turned 19 and has been in the Navy since last June. He’s been stationed in Japan since a.school and loves it!!! I miss him very much, but I’m so proud of him 🇺🇸
A lot of your songs resonate with me but also with my kids (21f, 20m, 19m, 17m) which very few artists can touch a multitude of generations. Thank you for sharing your gift with all of us along with your service. ❤️💙
This is one of the best stories I've ever heard. And I also listen to his music quite often. Had no idea this was his background. Really cool. I'm super impressed bro
I heard his song heading south ages ago and was like damn this is real country. Gritty, rough and just makes you feel like you're out in the wilderness around a fire. It's crazy how much he's blown up
This kid. Got me through some shit.
Thanks Zach-
from Los Angeles.
Glad you’re “doing fine”.
He mentions Jason Isbell, and I was SO lucky to see them BOTH this year! Amazing year of music for me!
I showed my whole family headin south years ago and now seeing him on jre is kind of what I expected lmao it was so good
Remember getting “Heading south” in my RUclips recommendation some years back now. You’ve come long way man. Cheers Zach! 🎶 🎸
Humility makes him a very likable dude. I saw him when he was releasing early vids and never knew he made it big. Proud of you brother!
Headin south was one of the first 6 songs of his I bootlegged. I love all of his music! He's been my absolute favorite artist since then.
It's called spiderwebbing. Not a military thing but I'd say many of us definitely struggle with that (especially women) lol
@@MyriamBernard13 I never knew it had a name! I really meant that it’s gotta be a military thing how they have so many interesting stories about it, like almost everyday seems like a movie. Like everyone in the military comes out with a never ending book of memories!
@siennaluvskz true! Just realizing this now too haha
He really isn’t humble at all. Threatening the police with “do you know who I am” and getting arrested rather than show his driver’s license is a douchebag move.
@@ingetout I don’t believe he said “do you know who I am.” He explained everything in a video and he didn’t say that, he said he got out and asked the police what was taking so long and they told him that they’d arrest him
I love Zach so much. His story about his mom and his music has changed my life. I cry thinking about how lucky I am, and we are to hear him sing. Leaving the Navy takes forever! We have so many similarities
What an amazing dude, he is so self aware and conscious of everything and how people think
What a guy. He’s so genuine and down to earth you can hear it in his lyrics . Not been listening to him for too long but sure glad I found him and his music. It’s the real deal 💪🏻 Something In The Orange touches your soul. Love it
His Dad's reaction was brilliant
Between him and Luke Combs… you can tell why we love county music. These guys don’t want to speak higher than others. They clearly are raised to be humble and you can tell a genuine appreciation for their position.
I almost want them to be more “confident”, but even saying “what I want” is the most ludicrous thing to type on a comment. Through them not being “braggadocio” they make great music
F Luke Combs #Creeksquad
@@NathanCline12-21#shitcreeksquad
@@matthewgold9402 you wouldn't know who Luke Combs is without Ryan Upchurch
@@NathanCline12-21 very incorrect, but make those assumptions
Luke Combs is an amazing artist & would have been known with or without Upchurch. However he did do Upchurch wrong, after Upchurch helped him. The way they both handled the situation made me respect Upchurch more, and Luke less.
I'm a team Benjamin Todd from (LDSB). His music & his personal story & triumph have changed my life. He has done what hundreds of therapists & thousands of dollars couldn't do. Then music like Zachs just helps me continue to fight for me & feel again.
Excited to see this interview :) such a fan of Zach! Real talent - tunes that touch the soul
I was at the Pageant concert in saint Louis after every song Zach Bryan would tell every one thank you. One of the most humble artists out there.
Never heard of this guy, but looked him up in Spotify and heard just one song, "Something in the Orange", and was really impressed. Wow.
68 Fastback is one of my favs! Kids a hell of an artist!
His whole album "American Heartbreak" is great
He doesn't miss. Every song he puts out is good.
Listen to his new sled titled EP. probably his best work to date, which is saying something
self-titled lol
His dad must be so proud. His voice is like angels singing in my ears.
Such a great listen. Props to Joe as always and Zach seems like such a kind soul
Love his humility, it’s refreshing!
No way ... This mans songs have gotten me through more than any artist since Emo music after my 1st heartbreak in High School.
Haaa - from dashboard & taking back sunday to childers & bryan. Same. A. F.
Shoutout to Jelly Roll for putting Joe on Zach! Dudes a superstar songwriter and singer!!

Zach Bryan! I love his music! I hope it never changes! ❤
Never heard of this guy (I don't listen to any new music). But seems like a solid, down-to-earth dude. Hope he keeps his morals and ethics in place. He was certainly raised by an upstanding unit.
Enjoy the rabbit hole. He's a great singer and song writer.
He is great I promise one of the best new artists out there.
There’s a huge amount of amazing Americana/ folk music like his everywhere these days just gotta look a little further than normal
@@berinmind No rabbit hole at all. But your opinion totally matters... for real.
When this man says a song is beautiful you stop the video and immediately go listen and IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT - amazing song ❤
So great to hear him pay respect to Jason Isbell
A shame that beautiful fool started shining his lib-light. Helluva song writer.
Mine again could be an Isbell song
@@kasiecastleberry careful, Zach has some "lib-light" of his own, LOL
Isbell just gets overlooked by nearly everyone
@@DallasFelonyRing that's for sure. He walks the line
Joe is just riveted. Loved watching this. Love his songs. Every. One.
Zach is an absolute legend 💯
I am from Tulsa, OK, about 45 minutes away from Zach Bryan's hometown. I turn 28 in 5 days, I am also joining the Navy and hoping to make it to BUD/s, it just took me longer than most lol my father and grandfather were also both in the Navy, the similarities are crazy. Only I dont really have any musical ability. This guys music has been a part of some of the key moments and hardest moments of my life so far.
His cover of "Dress Blues" is so awesome.
I listened to this entire episode a couple months back, such an authentic guy, great conversation.
Zach deserves the attention. Lovely songwriter
I thought I loved Zach for his voice and music, until I saw this video. Now I love EVERYTHING about him!
As a fellow Tulsan and JRE fan it’s really cool seeing Zach on here. Repping the Okie state! Dude is already a legend here, you’ll enjoy his music.
I was born in Claremore but grew up in Catoosa.
I found this guy in 2018 and became his biggest fan. Getting to know his navy backstory makes sense. We’ve both done multiple tours in Africa and Djibouti and enjoyed it for the same reason. It’s a different sense over there. It’s where life began. You look up at the stars and it’s just different. And thanks ZB for calling me out…I’m that guy.
Who are the US bombing in Djibouti ?
@@benjaminbradley780 Pirates but they’re mostly dead/retired now. But Djibouti is a happening place. A lot of countries have bases there.
