Jorge Luis Pacheco! Another Cuban genius! God, I love this country for bringing so much musical talent and so much great music to this world. Amazing trio altogether! Dave Weckl - drum god! Richie Goods keeps up with the other too with ease and finesse! Bravo!
It's not because you're capable of anything that you have to show/play everything, good taste is definitely hard to get... I respect the technical skills though.
I see a whole lot of haters here, people giving opinions but have no actual good content of themselves playing AT ALL. Chill out and enjoy it Mr. Virtuosos!!
Unbelievable what they doin’ just music like think and feel out of the traditional music box! Dave as always surprises me! Excellent! Thank you guys! One word amazing!!
Robert Boyle Except!,.. piano man fucked up the very last notated figure on the chart!!! Weckl played it as written on the downbeat!! Piano man played the figure on the upbeat!!
Dave's Latin playing was even top notch back in 1988. Listen to his playing with Michel Camilo. Find it if you can....Anthony Jackson on bass. Remember listening to it when I was an aspiring drummer back then.
Richie Goods swung like crazy with Mulgrew Miller on upright bass long ago and here kills like both Anthony Jackson and John Patitucci on electric! Weckl, superb as always.
Remember those pianists who performed LIVE for Silent Film/Cinema... no disrespect, but listening to Eldar (Djangirov) or Hiromi (Uehara) is more emotionally fulfilling for these ears of mine.
Reminiscent of Rubalcaba, yes. He plays definitely in his style from the 90. But, there is a long way to go for this young chap. Rubalcaba was in the 90 aalready a huge giant of piano. Not yet recognized by all critics probably because Cuban. I mean Gonzalo had chops beyond, and not just Afrocuban. This guy here will hurt himself when he keeps playing like this. Also in terms of sound possibilities and timing Rubalcaba was on another planet. Sorry.
I'm here for Weckl, the master. But man, here's part of the reason jazz audiences have dwindled to the few clinging devotees. There is virtually no music here, just a proliferation of notes, generally played as fast as possible, the novelty of which wears of pretty quickly. No beauty, no feel, no heart, no soul. This is music for the brain. I'm not a hater, I just hate it.
This is one reason Herbie Hancock is a genius of modern music, he plays a few chords and notes and leaves you feeling good, this guy plays 1000 notes and you feel nothing
This guy plays the piano like Arturo Sandoval plays the trumpet, and they both leave me sort of empty! Music is supposed to be used to convey a message in a song, but this is musical trapeze artistry, kind of watching those chinese acrobats do crazy human tricks. I don't remember anything this guy or Arturo play, anything.
Jazz... too many notes that disharmony sets in and no melody (not completely) is created. The effect of music is to uplift and sooth or excite one's emotions to a happy feeling or ecstasy, whichever sets in first. Some Jazz in melody is smooth an soothing but too many notes just scrambled, up, down, up, down and going nowhere just gives me a headache. It feels like a shock treatment as if being in an Asylum just waiting for my next volt discharge therapy! But mix Jazz with Caribbean Latin Rhythms and Ah!!!! what a difference!! The Latin Beat forces into Harmony the Jazz over-run tones going out of whack and all over the place... whether its Mambo, Descarga, Bop or Cha-Cha or even Bata and Salsa, these Rhythms bring Law and Order to the Jazz Ensemble and true meaning to those scaling crazy all over the place notes that by themselves make no sense. Sorry if some people feel "offended" in their "Jazz Sensitivity" but Jazz never meant anything to me until it married the King Of Beats. Don't believe me? Try dancing to Jazz in its pure form... you can't! there is no order!! you just have to seat down and observe. With Latin Jazz, you can dance or even if you don't know how, even sitting down, your butt just bumps from side to side wanting to Dance!
The guy playing the piano is obviously really talented, but his lack of variety got old to me really quick. Seems like he was doing pretty much the same stuff over and over again.
LOL Dave is reading this gig !!
But still ad lib a bit...legend

AMAZING POWER TRIO INTHIS FRAGILE WORLD!!!!!!
I have a feeling by the look on Dave's face the pianist is capable of anything.
Great video, Both monsters.
Jonathan Harrington
Totally. He seems to realize he’s in the presence of a genius ...
It's not because you're capable of anything that you have to show/play everything, good taste is definitely hard to get...

This is so great, Dave is the best technically feeling tempo...
Well that's freakin ridiculous, Weckl and the Pianist each blowing each other away with their extraordinary talent.
Dave Weckl is, well...Dave Weckl!!!😎🖒

Pacheco has an incredible command of the piano. Infinite diversity and style. Together with Dave this may be one of my favorite all time performances.
Only Dave Weckl could keep up with this piano man!!
Robert Boyle Except!,.. piano man
fucked up the very last notated figure on the chart!!! Weckl played it as written on the downbeat!!
Piano man played the figure on the upbeat!!

José Luis Pacheco Piano 🎹 Wizard! One Of A Kind!
amazing drummer and beautiful bass man!!!!
Dave's Latin playing was even top notch back in 1988. Listen to his playing with Michel Camilo. Find it if you can....Anthony Jackson on bass. Remember listening to it when I was an aspiring drummer back then.
Dave arrebenta! Excelente..🥁🥁🥁🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
First time i ever saw Dave Weckl have to work hard at it....great job
He didn't have to work hard. The piano player is good. But not enough variety in his playing.
@@jeffbeharry1002 agreed, great player, lots of potential, but will need to mature a lot still
This performance is even more captivating than the studio version. FANTASTICO !!
Just plain SICK !!!
Doesn't look unwell to me?
Amazing!
Nos vamos todos con el Pache!!! Fenomeno!!!
Incredible.
Richie Goods swung like crazy with Mulgrew Miller on upright bass long ago and here kills like both Anthony Jackson and John Patitucci on electric! Weckl, superb as always.
Great performance - I hear a big Michel Camilo influence

You need to get out more.
Thx for your time. Good luck.
Dave Weckl from 4:16
Glórias à Deus!
Fantástico...
Remember those pianists who performed LIVE for Silent Film/Cinema... no disrespect, but listening to Eldar (Djangirov) or Hiromi (Uehara) is more emotionally fulfilling for these ears of mine.

Luis Molina? quizá quisiste decir Jesús Molina?
Those are some good sounding Stage Customs.
Bjørn Håvard Bakken I think those are Oak Customs. I agree they sound great
@@SteveNanda Oh, yes you're right. They're Oaks. Just went by the color and lugs, so I thought they were SCs.
I think the badge is different
They are Oak Customs!!
Dave es tan musical..!
Here the axe flew off the handle.

Wow.Hot.
Dave is hands down amazing, but that guy playing the piano...
There´s a guy in the piano? Where?
Lacks variety?
Duh 😳 give me a minute to recover ....😁
Alphonso johnson bass solo
With the greatest respect to Dave who is the best: this one was more suited to Dafnis

From 12:25 to end I was unable to close my mouth
Gran virtuosismo. Ma non trasmette nessuna emozione. Come artista è un fallimento totale.
Pianist too agressive.. move slow.. take at easy.. enjoy the music.. dont too push it... just flow..
Peter 888 what kind of talent do you have this pianist performs with love and passion you seem jealous

Ah dude you’ve totally missed it I’m sorry, you need to go back and listen from the 60’s right up to today, then you’ll be blown away..

@Phoenix One why don't you just tell us how you really feel?🤔
Oh FFS I give up, goodnight
Wot a pianist, but not a musician
The guy playing the piano is obviously really talented, but his lack of variety got old to me really quick. Seems like he was doing pretty much the same stuff over and over again.
I'm trying real hard to be amazed, but I got bored...
Pobre piano con semejante aporreo!!
This music sucks, really. Where is Corea ???
Guess ya gotta have crazy hair to play music
