@jasoncole8055 Your offer isn't accurate. Let me set a precise offer (would you accept to give me 3 seconds of your time for a 270$ "price difference" ?!) Of course time is priceless but don't offer a death for millions - be reasonable in your discussion. And speaking about reasoning (who buys or needs a sward in 2023 ?!!!!!!!!!!!!)
I mean, its not cost effective for the cartel. The 300$ sword doesn't factor in its maintenance cost. Considering that its one of their primary equipments, the repeated use would lower its quality overtime plus it doesnt produce that scream of despair that machetes typically produce. 1 cut and its done. Meanwhile machetes barely need any maintenance, i mean, it becomes more effective the more u use it. Machete not being able to cut cleanly means they can hear the screams much longer.
Nah the machete works better, that machete doesn't even have a proper edge I bet,i'd say he just bought it and tried it without sharpen the blade and they are never sold properly sharpened
Well, there are pros and cons with everything, and mitigating the cons while maximizing the pros is rarely ever that cut & dry, as gaining a positive often means having to accept a negative. In the end, you get what you pay for, and the only real question is, "Was it is worth it?"
Initial observations, you just left the machete dull? Is there a reason why you're taking a 45 slice with the $300 boy instead of taking a horizontal one like you did with the machete?
Machetes are generally made thinner with more flexible steel than swords are made of. Which makes it lighter to carry. But being lighter means it takes more swings to cut with unless you know how to use it properly
The thinner and more flexible blade is also better for the function and use of a machete, as well as maintenance/sharpening. Although there is a trade off on the sharpening between holding an edge, and being easier to sharpen. A stiffer, harder blade holds an edge better. But is more difficult to sharpen. A thinner, more flexible blade, with lower carbon content in the steel, is much easier to sharpen, but doesn't hold the edge as well as a harder blade. The real benefit of the thinner and more flexible blade with lower carbon is that it flexes instead of chipping or breaking. A machete with too hard and rigid of a blade, like one made of 1095 steel, will snap or chip before it bends. A low carbon content, like 1045 steel, has more durability, and can be spring tempered so that it flexes upon making hard contact, and returns true to form. As a sword collector and enthusiast, I'm always having to balance these things when buying a functional sword. Theres always a trade off you have to make between hardness and flexibility.
The Thai machete is not for clearing brush. It’s for clearing opponents. The handle is double grip making it very maneuverable and the pommel is for striking. Well balanced and well weighted. Mine stays by my front door.
