Also your white ceiling will bounce light around as well to add fill. It will be harder if this is a restaurant or bar that usually has darker ceiling.
I've been working on a series of semi-scripted, documentary-style videos to engage my fans into more of my life aside from my music, and I think using high-key lighting will be a great way to set that content apart from my usual, more dramatically-lit singing videos and better convey the lighter mood of the reality series. Thank you for the great content as usual Brady!!
so I literally just found you on ig and came here to find your channel and watched all your videos. I LOVE THEM SO MUCH. They are so calm to watch. They remind me of Danny Gavirtz videos.
there is a reflection on oven behind the girl, if the main light can be higher position i think the reflection will gone. Btw thank u Brady, thanks for lighting tutorial set up class!
I love rimming, I used it in my Generic Millennial Programming concept clip. I didn't have a C-stabd though so I used boxes instead 😂😂😂 It came out though so, you gotta do what you can.
@@BradyBessette nothing like a good refresher 📚, looks like music video vibe like 2010-2012. I like 😎. Now all music videos nowadays are all wide angle, It kills me 😔, good to see something with depth.

Grea t job! I think the more I do cinematography the darker and darker I like to go with my images 😂 I should definitely start doing some more high key stuff to switch things up!
@@BradyBessette It really did! Showing the individual elements and how they make up a scene really bring the subject closer to understanding. Thank you for all the effort! :)
So nice content, very well done and fun! What about giving us some samples of the footage do play around? to fill what u felt editing and color grading it?
is it important to darken the scene from strong natural light that comes from the windows? does it harm the soft light we are trying to achieve? thank you brady!
Very nice video, Brady! As someone who does high key themselves, you nailed it. AND don't give those lenses back because I need to see more footage with them!
Watching it now in 2022, it's amazing to see how Aputure paved the way to launch useful products that killed the competition. I bet if you remade this video now we would have Aputure MCs and Amarans in the scene, conveniently manageable via SidusLink (great content by the way, I'm watching all the content on the channel haha)
What settings are you using in camera or what f stop. All other videos I see with the vazen anamorphic and the bmpcc 4K look ugly and soft, but all your videos look solid!?

Professor. How would one go about a high key light for a night scene? For example lighting something to look like night but still have the happy feeling. I’m very curious. Or because it is night, the high key lighting isn’t possible?
Hey brady...can u tackle a flickering issue...i was recording out in the city and i notice this weird flickering in my frame...someone told me it was shutter not matching the light ....im kinda confused???
I have a question regarding your rig. I heard that to work properly with Cine lenses the Nucleus Nano required a quite powerful output (8-12V). Since your V-Mount Battery is feeding the BMPCC, how do your power the Nano? Thanks!
Hi there! Good question, I had gotten a camvate plate for my vmount so I run dtap out of the camvate to the nano. I had to get a different power cord to run dtap to... whatever the nano requires. It has quite some power! No problem on the Vazen 40mm
Late comment here...I guess the DOF was more comparing to a wide open lens. However,ML60 outputs are very low comparing to other fixtures. What was the ISO ?
Love your content (I'm subscribed) and no shade to you, but😁 3:47 - "and that light had no modifier on it; *just the reflector dish that came with the light* " - umm😄..

At the 2:24 mark what's up with that grip arm? Is that a real grip arm or a home depot grip arm, or something else?
I got it from an older photographer, it's a real grip arm but more so just a metal rod with a knuckle on it!
@@BradyBessette hey whatever works right
How essential is a speed booster for the BMPCC 4k ?
I would say pretty essential, and be cautious on the ones you get. Some are VERY soft
@@BradyBessette Thanks for the reply. With the added cost of a speed booster might be worth getting the 6k.?

It’s all preference, so your research. I got the 0.71x, since I have a 18-35 sigma the .64 is TOO wide
Superb 🥰

so grateful for this awesome educating content! would you consider the ML60 as an alternative for the popular 120D? greetings from Austria!
I don’t think it could replace its output but it’s a very great light! Close competition!
Professor. How would one go about a high key light for a night scene? For example lighting something to look like night but still have the happy feeling. I’m very curious. Or because it is night, the high key lighting isn’t possible?
Often times using motivated light like warm practicals inside houses work great as an excuse to bring up ambience

Hey brady...can u tackle a flickering issue...i was recording out in the city and i notice this weird flickering in my frame...someone told me it was shutter not matching the light ....im kinda confused???
Yes try to adjust your shutter to see if it stops. Sometimes I adjust to 1/60 instead of 1/50 and it stops
Did you use any ProMist filters on this shoot?
No I didn’t!

yeah they aren't the BRIGHTEST, although brighter than I was expecting! ISO was 400
i love high key and have always wanted to create the look. but the amount of ml 60 you have used makes it hard. lol. But will try with something cheap
It is a more difficult process to include more lights. But I do prefer lowkey
Thanks man!
Can i use existing house light as back/fill light and use a softbox with same colour temp light as key? (I am on tight budget)
Yes! Just white balance to whatever existing lights are there! I’ve done it many times especially large sets
If a godox ml60 and the aputure 100x are the same price, which would you buy nowadays?
What would the advantage be of the godox ml60s be over getting a sl60, since they are both 60 watt lights, but the sl60 is cheaper?
I believe the ML may be a little brighter, it’s definitely quieter and more compact, also it has effects whereas the SL I don’t believe does
Ya. SL60 doesn’t have any effects. Plain Jane brightness knob.
Also, with the SL you have to choose between either AC or DC power. With the ML, you get both options.
Thank you everyone!
