Long story short. Very lean air/fuel mixture which compresses in this car to like 16 to 1. Spark plug ignites a tiny rich air/fuel mixture right next to it which increases the pressure in the cylinder making the lean mixture ignite like in a diesel all at the same time. Which means youre using the entire fuel to push down the piston from top to bottom not like in a petrol where the fuel is still burning up while the piston is already a certain way down.
@@dinosgura Mazda is generally known for very reliable cars. In case of this engine its hard to say since the oldest ones on the road are only about 2 years old. But since modern turbo charged petrols have to deal with even higher pressures than this one I expect it to be more reliable than those. But Im just guessing here.
@@TheDude50447 Im a bit late for the show, but i recently asked a mazda technician about repair jobs on the X engine and he said that there are not any major issues so far. So almost 3 years after launch the engines seem to be good. Hope this trend keeps up for more years.
I have a 2019 skyactive g 2.5 litre hatch auto, Cool car and fun to drive. My missus just purchased a 2020 sky active x manual hatch, it is very nice with the power compared to her old skyactive g 2.0l Mazda! Mazda make good cars! ❤️🇦🇺
one thing you didnt mention at all is the Automatic Gearbox Mazda was known for shity automatic gearboxed in the MX5 untoll 3d gen and in the RX-8 too which was being built until 2012 well im guessing they have improved them since havent heard anything about them in recent years which is a good thing
Hi there and thanks for your question. On city roads and tar sealed motorways I think you'll find the car very quiet - like most modern cars. It's really when you get on rough chip country rods that road roar becomes an issue. The Mazda still suffer from this BUT, it's not as bad as the Mercedes AMG A35 Sedan I tested a while back. Yes, even very expensive cars can come unstuck on our back roads. Maybe take the CX-30 for a test drive and see what you reckon. Keen to hear how you get on. Cheers for watching. Blu.
Clever car at a reasonable price point. I think, to drive it sporty, you will need high rounds, which will increase the fuel consumption. The trunk is unfortunately little and high. Thanks for the review!
I see this engine has.already been upgraded in Japan to 140kW & 240Nm (from 132kW & 224Nm) and slightly better claimed economy. Be a bit upset if I’d just paid through the nose for this brand new to the (NZ) market engine tech to find out it’s already received a major upgrade that won’t be far away... I suppose it’s the curse of the early adopter.
Hi roto ehu. Thanks for your comments. Mazda did say at the NZ launch of this engine that they aimed for a compromise between the power output and economy figures for this engine. They stated they could have tuned it for more power or more economy but felt these current settings were right for NZ. Good to see there’s some continuing development going on in Hiroshima though. Great research on your party, too. Cheers for watching.
@@CarNutvideos let’s hope they will seed the ecu update through dealers for current X vehicles 🙏 I am looking forward to get one for mine CX-30 😎 Great review by the way 👍 Greetings from Poland 🇵🇱😊
Nice review. I own that car (as a Sedan) since February, and I am really happy with it.
Best regards from Germany
Thanks Frank.

Sorry Sir, is this engine safe or reliable??

Glad you liked it! Thank you. 👍
Seen some of these engine tear downs after engine problems not a pretty site
can you provide some mileage numbers for comparison
Will it come apart after a couple years of driving? Like the notorious vankel.
Hi CarNut, good review. How’s the noisy from sky-X when running on city roads or motorway? Thanks.

Only time will tell if it holds up or falls apart.
I hope they will make a RWD mazda 6 wagon based on this technology
Maybe for a larger engine. They are going to a rwd v6 for the future 6
