  • This is my own shower that has been leaking a little for some time now, but recently, it has gotten worse and now unbearable.
    This is actually an older model hydramax show with the older cartridge. New models have a thermostatic cartridge that is not repairable and basicly needs to be replaced if they leak.
    A service kit is available for this cartridge with all the orings.
    I didn't have a service kit, so I simply used o rings from the workshop.
    No, a difficult job to do, just make sure to turn off the water valves and the shower braker on the mains board before opening it.

    Triton is the best showers I think, iv fitted plenty, they don't seem to give the same trouble as others do, but we'll done for fixing this one.

      @@adrianwhareham8921I think Triton work great until limescale wrecks the insides.
      I wish there was a safe method of adding a descaler into the system every few years.

    What actually is this thing? A pump? And why do you need this in a shower? I've been to Edinburgh some years ago and wondered what it could be.

    • @deandohertygreaser
      @deandohertygreaser  10 месяцев назад +3

      its a power shower. no heating element. it takes hot water from the tank to feed the shower. and has a pump to increase the pressure. We never use the pump, the gravity fed water has enough presure for us.

      @@deandohertygreaser Ohh, so the pump is just for homes with really poor water pressure? Coming from Austria, I have only seen one of them in Edinburgh, and I couldn't really figure out what it was. You don't find power showers in Austria, as we either have public pump stations or a pump in the basement of homes that are a bit further away from infrastructure. I think it's a brilliant idea though.

      These pumped showers are common in the UK & Ireland because historically direct mains fed water heating wasn't allowed, so many older houses still have a gravity hot water system fed from an open header tank (like a big WC cistern) in the attic, the water pressure is very low. We also have electrically heated showers that look very similar, but the water is heated directly in the wall box unit, despite being not very good they are quite common.
