There are different sizes to an optragate and different things happen when the incorrect optragate sizes are used. Like every other tool, this can be invaluable if used correctly. It definitely depends on the patient. For my population, I stock up more on mediums. 😆 I guess they have bigger mouths!

It is a disposable plastic material. One-time use, not to be autoclaved, unfortunately.

What is the cost for this? I would imagine it's pricey since most dentists don't use it
I’m sure you can call your local rep for there exact cost. Most dentist actually have no idea what the tool is. Balance cost vs benefits and see if it ideal for your practice. For me and the dentists I teach, it is!
Can I get this for a 5 year old? My daughter will not let me brush the teeth under her tongue.
I usually just slide the toothbrush between the tongue and teeth. This won't help with tongue placement. Maybe having them lay down with their head on your lap that way gravity will help give you access to their teeth.
