In my younger days when bassing a lot on Okeechobee, one of my favorite ways of locating and verifying that I was around a mussel bed was to fan cast with a 1/2 or 3/4 oz. Little George, keeping it moving just off the bottom.. Many times I caught a mussel on each prong of the single treble hook on the Little George. When the mussels were that thick and active (they were literally “ biting the Little George” as opposed to being foul-hooked), there would be schools of bass around the bed. I wish I had had the Mega imaging Humminbirds I have now back then!
When talking about stirring up the shad that reminded me once when i was in a back of a shallow cove and tilted the engine up to idle out in about 3ft of water the shad started going crazy jumping out of the water and big fish started eating them.
Great. We fished last week and the only bites we got on traps were in 5 feet where we could see the shells on the points. Can't wait to try this as the water warms.
Unrelated to this video but have you discussed about big prespawn fish suspending close to the surface? I hear they do it because it's warmer water and has to do with the eggs, maybe just luck but a slow falling craw texas rigged got me a biggun just after it had started sinking and a faster falling jig craw combo was not working, i believe that slow fall was the key in water under 60 degrees this is when a big swimbait would rock also big bite and slow moving which means less energy spent and larger fish. I know some have talked about this but it's rare.
I like Mr Martins channel. Him and Bob both seem like great guys. I laugh every time they crack jokes about females. Like two old guys missin their younger years lol
Man, this is real juice. I fish FL but so many good takeaways from this
Thank you for watching
Great information. I fish from the bank and have put this into practice. 👍🏻

Thank you for your support and comments
I hear you talk often about a second echo. Can you point me to a video on how to set up my HDS Live to get this second echo?
Should do a video on setting up your birds on the new boat, everything you've done is on lowrance.
Thanks for watching, not happy with the Humminbirds, my next boat will have Lowrance or Garmin units
Just curious Mike what do you not like about the Hunninbirds?
