I had this album on repeat for months. The songs grow on you. Especially when you can relate to the lyrics. Listen to Celine singing “Fly” on Oprah for reference.
"If That's What It Takes" and "I Don't Know" are actually two french songs from her 1995 album "D'eux" called "Pour que tu m 'aimes encore" and "Je sais pas". her final song was actually also a french song from the album "D'eux" called "Vole" it was specially written for Celine's younger niece who past away from a illness and sang this song to her, so overal it's a beautiful song if you know the meaning of that song. I think this is one of Celine's strongest album and also one of my faorits from Celine, maybe it will grow on you when you hear it a couples time more. To bad you don;t like "Call The Man" it's another favorite song of mine from the album, but i gues you can't always like what others like.
FYI, “If That’s What It Takes” is actually the English version of a French song she made titled “Pour que tu m’aimes encore.” It was a HUGE hit in French speaking countries. The English version is far less impressive. Fly also has a French version titled “Vole” and it’s the same situation.
I’ve recently started listening to Mariah, Whitney, and Céline’s albums. And I have to say, while there’s a few lackluster skips each of them have on their albums, I think it’s just outdated production for the most part. When you listen to their discographies, its clicks why these women were as big as they were. Absolutely incredible.
I think its funny how every person reacts differently to songs call the man for me is a spiritual journey and fly makes me instantly cry ehem i listen to it
Unpopular opinion but my favorite album of hers has got to be her self titled from ‘92. Beautiful ballads. Her vocals + Walter’s production was absolutely stellar. Also side note: sad you didn’t enjoy dreamin of you + i love you😭but i get it
The fact that you're not into I Love You and Dreaming Of You is shocking to me since those two are my favorite song in this album. But it's a matter of preference and I respect that.
