Please don't sell yourself short. You are an excellent interviewer. Because of your great technician background you know what to look for and ask about. I very much like this and all your videos. True Topper, looks like a promising product. Happy trails!
I could see the glee in their eyes as you sold their product for them! Your expertise in RV repair was a godsend for their new product. I hope they greatly compensated you for helping them out!! ;)
After watching this and doing my own research I pulled the trigger. I have a Monaco 2008 it had carefree toppers on it. I also have a full wall slide. 3 slides total. We purchased this coach in 2020. Drove it home from LA to Washington. In Oregon we had the big slide out. We have to have this out in order use the coach. We can have the other slides out or in. But in Oregon a big gust of wind hit us and destroyed the topper. We drove the rest of the way home with the topper hanging off the side. Thank you to ALL the people who drove by and told us about it. When I got home I cut it off. As the coach was new to us and we had no tools. But looking in to replacing it was going to be about the same price as the TrueTopper system. Now I don’t have to worry about wind rain water pooling up in the middle of a very long slide (29’). We just got into very high wind situation we had to put in our other two slides in because of the noise at 3:00am and worried that they may rip off. This TrueTopper system is awesome works exactly like they said it would. Dennis and Neil were great to deal with along with Heidi front office. I highly recommend this system. I will be doing my other slides soon.
Great product review. I was getting ready to replace Carefree of Colorado slide out topper on my Class A that I damaged when I came close and personal with a tree (tree 1 RV 0). I love the whole concept, it really does a wonderful job of diverting water away from the side seals. I was only going to have to one topper replaced but after watching this video, I'm going to replace all four of my toppers with this system. You did a great job interviewing them, you asked real good questions that really informed the viewers.
What you talking about being a bad interviewer. You ask the right questions most would not. You also added your views and explanations which is brilliant. Im English Living in Cambridgeshire in the UK and love what you do. Keep it up.
I'll repeat the previous comment James, don't sell yourself short. You are an excellent interviewer! Very glad I watched this video. In the DSW this winter and in need of replacing at least 1 of my 2 toppers. Going to look into this system when I get back to Oregon in the spring. Hoping that somewhere, sometime we can cross paths!
Great interview. I'm in an area with little rain and wind but a lot of hot sun so I like the shade on top of my poorly insulated slide outs. However, for other areas - they are really cool.
Great interview James! I had contacted Dennis last year to upgrade our 2015 Tiffin Allegro Bus. The cost at that time was $1,500 for each slide-out or a total of $6,000 without painting. The only reason i haven’t done it is that we were thinking about trading to a 45’ bus. We decided against that so looking at this upgrade when we can plan a trip to Red Bay. Thanks for video it was so much more informative than their website. Would like to see videos on a Tiffin retrofit, cutting off the slide top flush and the plates to cover the topper mounting holes.
I hate slide toppers! I like this solution. But what about costs not mentioned? I'm sure fabric toppers are still the cheaper way to go (to replace originals) but cost information, even if it were a "general" number (due to size differences, color etc.) , it would be as important to know. Guess they just want you to contact them so they can give you that personalized shock? Good thinking on their part to have you do a meet and greet with them and for you to help get the word out.
I think you did an outstanding job with that interview. So many don't allow the person they're interviewing to talk but you only interrupted them to get more info and then let them explain. All in all, very well done but I expected nothing less...
I lost my 25' slide topper in bad wind, while in Oklahoma. At 3 in the morning. Then it rained and the water came in due to poor seals from the Thor factory. I don't know if something like this would work on my Thor Tuscany. I did replace the topper and springs when I got home, but I made (what I call) a pair of topper clamps, using 3/8" and 1/4" square tubing. The 1/4" tubing slides in the 3/8" tubing with L shape padded tubing on both ends. One goes on the top of the topper and the other goes under the bottom of the slide out. Pull them together and tighten the set screw. Works like a champ. No more flapping. No more worries.
Great video! It was also a pleasure to meet you out there! I see we even made an appearance in the background! 🙃 It was an honor to be able to show you our roof replacement after learning from your great tutorial videos! Thank you for taking the time to stop and see what we had done. 🙏🏼 We also spent a lot of time talking to Jeff and hope to be able to add the True Topper. Genius product & it looks so clean!
There is an issue with older long slides where the slide roof has sagged a 1/2” or so in the middle. This leads to water pooling against the inner flange. AZ Expert have you ever dealt with this sagging issue? Not sure this new topper system could be used with the sag issue. Great video!
Those seem super cool. I'll definitively consider when my '19 Phaeton 40IH toppers have had enough! PS: love our seamless slides. Too bad Tiffin stopped using them. I'm guessing Thor was responsible for that. We toured Tiffin Red Bay and Belmont. All slides have aluminum picture frames now.
Thanks James. We have Seamless Slides on our Tiffin. This product will be considered because we don't like the rain pooling on our full wall slide that also harbors ice sheets that can jam the slide.
Thanks for the video James. I watched it last night and sent them a request for a quote on my 2000 Dynasty with two slides. My slide topper are only a year old installed by shade pro with tan sumbrella fabric if you know someone that needs them.
This came at a good time. I was about to buy new fabric. I’ll give Composite Solutions of Oregon a call. The only problem is that I can’t haul my RV in. Someone will have to come to me.
I didn't read all the previous 100 plus comments...but down south in Louisiana, we deal with heat more than Ice. I value the slide topper to help shade the slide roof from the direct sun. I admit, the wind can be a problem at times but I deal with sun more than wind.
Thanks for sharing, many units don't have the toppers at all, and shade isn't too great when the fabric is black absorbing the heat on many units, but I agree with you.
Wow..what a great idea. I can see a another channel with a stiff bristle nylon brush insert the length of the topper in addition to the "squeegee" channel being developed. Looks fantastic and good job on the interview.
We are full-timers. I met these gentlemen in Coos Bay last summer at the FMCA rally and was excited to get this installed on my diesel pusher. Dennis inspected my coach had not seen slides like mine that did not have a single 90 degree angle between the flange and the slide out box. My slide outs have a “step” so there are are two 90 degree angles to deal with to do the installation. I would have been the first customer with that situation and declined to be the guinea pig. They were candid that it would be a challenge, but could be done. I asked them to call me after they had done someone elses. They were good guys but I haven’t heard back so my slide boxes must not be the norm. I would love to get this done.
Man I stated looking around for prices on this new topper and I couldn’t believe all the naysayers slamming this product and it’s obvious that they did not know what they were talking about. Just crazy assholes, I couldn’t believe it. This product is going to change the way toppers are installed. Fantastic product!
Damn it man. I was just in red bay, al getting my awning replaced on my 2021 25RW, I had that cheap girad fabric that sagged replaced. I had it replaced with a thicker sunbrella material. I've never seen this. This is all true. Damn it man I wish I would've had these installed on my seamless slide.
This is a good product for protecting the slide seal at the top and I guess I see how it can scrape stuff off the top while it’s closing but with the standard topper it keeps the debris off the top completely. Also this will not cut down on noise from rain.
Great video, but I dont know if this will solve all the issues in tow behinds. I hate traditional toppers, but they do provide decent protection from the heat of the sun. The slideouts themselves in 5th wheels have basically no insulation. The heat coming thru those slideouts is insane. I love this product. It looks nice, and the functionality seems to be amazing. now I just need a more insulated slide room roof.
Timing of this video was great. I have a topper on my 06 Monaco that I need to replace and this sounds like an interesting option. Will have to check them out and see if they are an option for an older coach such as mine. Thanks for the vid.
I think that topper is sweet! Its a real game changer. I’d like to find out how much they cost w/labor to replace the 4 toppers I currently have on my ‘07 Navigator. I’ll have to check their website our. Great informative video as always! 👍
James, fantastic video and I can tell you the true topper product is wonderful from first hand experience. I have a 2022 Tiffin Breeze that came from the factory with Seamless Slides and True Toppers which Tiffin called Toppless Toppers. Unfortunately Tiffin no longer offered the seamless slides nor the true toppers. Rumor suggests that the bean counters at Tiffin’s parent company Thor made the call. So sad but also very predictible
Only thing I can add is that, in the event of an interview or product review, you make sure that the conversation(s) are leveled for audio, meaning that your audio level and the other person's are at the same level. This may mean that you put a mic on the person holding a conversation with you, and you wear one, too. I don't know how to tell you to do this, unfortunately, not having done it myself. Otherwise, all very interesting.
UHMW, Ultra High Molecular Weight PolyEthylene. Its high density smooth plastic. The same plastic that milk jugs are made of, but its much higher density. It doesn't crush or smash under reasonable forces and its smooth like Teflon.
UHMW =,ULTRA HIGH MOLECULAR WEIGHT Polyethylene... This stuff is really slippery And it wears like steel It can be a little difficult to machine if you don't understand it It likes very sharp tooling I machined it for the past 27 years before I retired I got my own stash in the garage as I speak It's great for everything.
So, it begs the question…when will these be on the Beaver? Looks like a great solution to a nagging problem. With the price point below the gerard, another selling point!
@@AZExpert As I was watching your video (Well done by the way) my thoughts were, "they solved a problem that beaver eliminated over 20 years ago." Love my patriot! But their seamless slides and these toppers are a fantastic upgrade, doubt the industry will allow the cost to stay.
Great product and you did a good job interviewing, but what's with your shirt neck? Reminds me of the Downy laundry detergent commercial...😊. Love your channel.
Another great video and a very intriguing product! We're wintering close by you here in The Valley and will volunteer to be your guinea pig if you'd like to do an install of these on our Tiffin Breeze with 2 Seamless Slides! ;)
Great concept and product. Is it limited to certain types of slides? Our 2004 Newmar slide drops a few inches at the end of the travel and didn't know if they have a solution for this feature.
I like it! The question I have that I didn't see or maybe I missed it is are they screwed, bolted or rivited on? Also I thought I heard that one benifit to slide toppers was the protection to the slide from the elements especially the heat so wonder how losing that aspect of a slide topper might be addressed. Learning a lot from you James if I ever get that RV I'll be a much better prepared RVer, thank you!
@@AZExpert my take, tradittional topper in rainy Florida, Tampa, is a 2 tier protection against the rain. 1st protection is the topper itself, 2nd is the seal on top of the slide out. " Water finds a way", hence i like the double protection i get from having a normal topper.
Great video, James. What about the outer, upper bulb seal on many slide outs that seals to the top flange of the "picture frame?" Would the "flashing" action of this topper be sufficient to keep water from intruding when going down the road or in heavy rain and winds? (I think that Newmar has these bulb seals at the top on the outside.) Thanks again.
Hey Wil, just an update. We just had these installed on our coach this past week and already love them. About 14 minutes into the video Dennis talks about running the coach with the toppers through their water testing station. Tiffin, on all new coaches, runs them through a specialized water station to check that everything is sealed, with the slides both extended and retracted. It's a pretty intense water show and they passed with flying colors. The toppers completely cover the top edge of the slide and thus protect it from water entry, along with the top seal of the slide. Hope that helps!
Hi AZ Expert - not sure how to contact you but I need some help....I have a 2002 Holiday Rambler Endevour with a rear bedroom slide out that has been leaking for sometime (was not told about this in the sales process) two issues 1. The water was streaming in at the bottom corners of the slide , quick fix was to silicon a dam to stop the flow 2. It looks like the seem around the bottom of the slide was leaking , this has been re-sealed but the slide floor is rotten and needs to be replaced. NOT SURE HOW TO ACCESS this part ...did you do any videos on a slide like this ? I'm in cold Canada at the moment. Any recommendations for this project would be greatly appreciated, tough part is we live in our motorhome fulltime too. You should see how rotten both the floor and subfloor about 2 to 3 feet out from the slide out is. Thanks for any help Darren
James: You did a fine interview job.. thanks. I would need to see the mods to the slide top edge to remove that seam edge height. That mod kinda worries me on separation of the seam over time? I am trying to avoid topper install on my 5th wheel slides

This is a good product for protecting the slide seal at the top and I guess I see how it can scrape stuff off the top while it’s closing but with the standard topper it keeps the debris off the top completely. Also this will not cut down on noise from rain.
Most towables do not have a topper, and while they do keep debris off, they do trap debris underneath too and make cleaning the roof impossible.
I am going to order these and hopefully have you install them, be ready...LOL

The cast marginal amounts of shade and block marginal amounts of rain, their real purpose is to keep debris off the roof of the slide
@@AZExpert my take, tradittional topper in rainy Florida, Tampa, is a 2 tier protection against the rain. 1st protection is the topper itself, 2nd is the seal on top of the slide out. " Water finds a way", hence i like the double protection i get from having a normal topper.
Looks like an awesome idea! Wondering if works on any slide out , like older coaches? Like 1998 American Dream for example!
That would be a great question for them!
@@AZExpert I sent them this question and I have not received a reply. Bummer.
@@billburkey4774 Thanks Bill. What coach do you have?
@@WilHershberger we have a 2011 Tiffin Phaeton 40'.
Thanks for any help
Darren
James: You did a fine interview job.. thanks. I would need to see the mods to the slide top edge to remove that seam edge height. That mod kinda worries me on separation of the seam over time? I am trying to avoid topper install on my 5th wheel slides
That would be a great question for them!
