Have rode since 6 years old. Have followed as much dirt bike racing possible and Doug Henry was a household name. He’s a legend to racing! God bless his family!
I have had his fox racing poster that shows the scar down his back and it says"what's stopping you" on the back of my tool box for 16 years and I look at it every day. The first too win a super cross on a four stroke"Yamaha"and was the development rider for Yamaha with the four stroke yz400f in the mid 90's that got us too were we are today. Doug Henry is my hero and I have his tld cartoon decal tattooed on my arm as I am also a former yz400f racer and Yamaha employee. The ironic thing about this is that I wrecked on my yz that ended my riding for ever but I still love the sport even though I have no connection anymore. Love the Henry family...... Than you.
Me too. On the wall in my shop. Much respect to this amazing man. He will always be my favorite MX rider - talent/character wise. Just a great Legend and even better human.
What an incredibly inspiring athlete. I met Doug back in '97 at Budds Creek when he raced the prototype YZ400M and he was amazing to watch and very humble to speak with.
OMG! He was one of my favorite riders back in the day. I'm going through some stuff right now. Nothing even close to this. Thank you, I needed some encouragement. While my stuff is serious, I can still walk.
Doug has an amazing wife that no one is giving credit to . She has stood by him and he is lucky to have her . If she wasn’t an awesome woman he could be in a wheelchair in a room while she’s selling all his bikes behind his back telling him he’s never gonna ride again
Matt S No kidding. Now all CNN seems to be is a talking head screaming into a megaphone spewing lies about our president, our patriots, and our people. Sure our president screws up, and sure he tweets things I wouldn’t; however, he’s our president, and I respect him and his office.
You have always been an inspiration to us even when my son used to motocross but a streetbike wreck brought that to an end. He's fine and we now have two grandchildren who already have dirt bikes. We love you Doug!!!
Man. I think my life is terrible. Watching this makes me feel ashamed. Life is crazy. And there is no such thing as “Fair”. I’m shedding a tear for his misfortune and for his and his wife’s incredible courage.
wow used to watch him race macgrath, emig etc but never knew this happened! but still living life to the full! total respect but gotta feel for his family having to worry alot
Great attitude. Keep your chin up, this is not our home. Our Lord Jesus has gone to prepare a place for those who believe. In His Father's house there are many mansions! Bless you Doug!
I was Injured in the usmc crushed a boan in my back. At 57 years old it gave paralyzed from the knees down. It was repaired , i tryed to give up riding but i could not. I get a kick out of streat riding taking track riders out and they cant keep up with me. They ask me how i. So fast i tell them im not fast but my ski racing and kart racing makes it so i under stand the road how it works and i can read traffic paderns well. Riding on a track is fun because you can push you bike further to speed. But its the same time after time seeing over 100 different turns in an hour is more fun and a different style of riding i can seem to give up.
I remember when he first started on the 4stroke we would be at the dam and you would hear that thumper coming through the woods to the pit and dud would literally fly over us on the jumps.. we was few years younger than him.. very cool dude and we all gave the put to him when he came through.
I used to pray on the starting line God above all else don’t let me get paralyzed. Eventually I had some really bad falls which caused headaches that were constant and I had to stop racing. I tried to go back to it but couldn’t, the headaches were too bad and it was constant all the time. I guarantee you his wife is right when she said someone’s trying to tell you something. I don’t know what Doug Henry believes in but I guarantee you someone was trying to tell him something. Such a bummer to see that happen to him. It was David Bailey scared the life out of me. He seems to take a while though.
Sad story, and such a tragedy, because I know what it's like to have your legs taken away from you, because my girlfriend has MS. But on the other hand, you have to know the risks that comes with this sport. It's a huge possibility that you might not walk away from every race.
0:27 ". . . the unthinkable happened." Unthinkable? A motorcyclist injured himself badly. Well who would've thought that could happen? I'm shocked. I'm also surprised that people think he's a hero. He's an idiot.

"Don't want to waste time not being happy", words to live by. God bless Doug Henry, what an absolute inspiration for all of human kind!

Because they are sooooo much faster on a motocross track!

Man this guys paralyzed and can still beat me around a track.
She has a right to be afraid. He doesn't know when to grow up, and she will be stuck feeding his selfish ass.

Hey Henry the real Sunnyboy
thanks to a farmer racer, eye can say eye beat mister Henry in a outlaw race in Palmyra Ne on my 1997 CR250. Took him out he did with coveralls on
Tough guy.

Fuck off jackass , this MAN has more inspiration in his little finger than you'll ever know, go back down to mommies basement and play with yourself
Ill bet he can still ride faster than lots of racers that don't have his physical problem.
Great will to keep living a normal life.
