  • United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday after the Russian leader promised Friday to "immediately" order a cease-fire in Ukraine and begin negotiations if Kyiv started withdrawing troops from the four regions annexed by Moscow in 2022 and renounced plans to join NATO. The US didn't tell Ukrainians to seek their independence. The US doesn't benefit from an independent Ukraine. It's Russia that has always tried to dominate them, and now even claims that Ukraine is not a sovereign state.

    Given the immediate and irrational response of Ukraine and the NATO bloc to Putin's speech, when faced with their inevitable defeat on the conventional battlefield, it is most likely that NATO will be the first to resort to the use of nuclear weapons.

  • @cashaeleatemla
    @cashaeleatemla 16 дней назад +6

    Broader demands for peace that Putin listed included Ukraine’s recognition of Crimea as part of Russia, keeping the country’s nonnuclear status, restricting its military force and protecting the interests of the Russian-speaking population. All of these should be part of “fundamental international agreements,” and all Western sanctions against Russia should be lifted, Putin said.
    Putin’s remarks, made to a group of somber Foreign Ministry officials and some senior lawmakers, represented a rare occasion in which he clearly laid out his conditions for ending the war in Ukraine, but it didn’t include any new demands. The Kremlin has said before that Kyiv should recognize its territorial gains and drop its bid to join NATO.

      Security Council Secretary Oleksiy Danilov made the comments on Ukrainian television on July 27, saying the redeployments were taking place in the direction of the Kherson, Melitopol, and Zaporizhzhya regions, and the Russians were bringing in additional forces.
